My god Toad's Turnpike is hell in Extra mode :/

The music, though...

The music doesn't save that course from being utter hell

cant argue with that, dont really like the game a whole lot, but that track was utter bullshit.

Nothing should be that badly designed.

I never had a problem with the course. Literally, I'm so confused on what was so bad about Toad's Turnpike.

I keep clicking here when there's a new post hoping someone has more info. Anyone know when said info will actually come?

Have you ever played it on Extra?

Re: Mario Kart 8

You can't be literally confused on why people don't like Toad's Turnpike in Extra Mode. :P

In Extra Mode, the cars drive TOWARDS you. You have barely any reaction time at some turns. If you get hit by a car ONCE, you lose a lot of time from flying, bouncing a bit, and slowly accelerating to normal (even if you're a lightweight). The slippery controls don't help either. Also, the bad programming in the AI can cause one of them to be super fast and rubber-banding, so you if you're hit ONCE, you're punished. You have to be thankful the AI can't use any shells.

We'll be super lucky to get any info before the September press conference

Re: Mario Kart 8

This wouldn't be the best spot to get new Mario-related announcements in the first place. Try somewhere else, such as GameFAQs, to find topics related to new information. If there aren't any new topics, then there aren't any new news.

Re: Mario Kart 8

If anything major was announced, then even this place would be talking about it

Re: Mario Kart 8

My point is that at least in GameFAQs, you'll get a glance at what's new. Here, you have to check in one topic that may or may not have the news.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I guess I just never had a problem with Toad's Turnpike then. I always found it on Extra Mode a lot of fun, but I haven't played the game in years and you two definitely seem to almost take apart and put back together any game you get and know what you're talking about (or at least I hope. :P).

At least the traffic pattern is quite predictable once you've studied the vehicles. The main issue after that is trying to leave your competition in the dust.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I played Toad's Turnpike in Mario Kart Wii via CT's (custom tracks if you don't get my jargon) and it's far worse in that game. The road's very small, the vehicles smash you and knock you over, and there are bomb karts added to the mix. Oh and they drive towards you too.

Now I really don't want Toad's Turnpike like that to return :/

Re: Mario Kart 8

Maybe one resolution is to make the traffic vehicles smaller in size, much like with the traffic in Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City.

Re: Mario Kart 8

And maybe remove some vehicles like the oil trucks and buses (or whatever they were) and hopefully Put in Bomb-Cars don't put Bomb-Cars in the road.

Re: Mario Kart 8

They're just going to replace the oil trucks and buses with something equally as long as them

Re: Mario Kart 8

Because it seem we don't want Toad Turnpike back, I decided to look over some retro courses we might. Please bear in mind, I only own DS, Wii and 7 so any before that I am basing because I like the concept. So, from SMK Vanilla Lake, it's about time one of those tracks reappeared. From MK64 Yoshi Valley, just incase a new Yoshi themed track isn't introduced. From MK:SS Boo Lake, Cheese Land, Cheep-Cheep Island, Sunset Wilds, Yoshi Desert and Lakeside Park. From MK:DD Sherbet Land and Wario Colosseum. From MKDS Cheep-Cheep Beach, Tick-Tock Clock, those tracks were quite fun. From MKW Moo Moo Meadows, always loved that and Daisy Circuit, mainly because I think it'd look good in HD and for MK7 Daisy Hills, Shy Guy Bazaar, Alpine Pass and Koopa City. It's weird I used to hate Koopa City, but I now love it

Am I the only one who wants N64 Rainbow Road? That course is nostalgic, and I'd love to see it in HD.

I wanted to have a game where all the previous Rainbow Roads were all in a cup, as I think that would be so cool. But whatever, too late now.

I do hope N64 Rainbow Road returns, because it was a lot of fun, even though you spent like 2 minutes just doing one lap. :P

Re: Mario Kart 8

It's possible for N64 Rainbow Road, Nintedo may start having each feature as a retro course now. Maybe N64 here, Super Circuit's in the next etc.

It seems that Rainbow Road"s" are exclusive to each title. Bowser's Castles can be reused perhaps due to that each castle can have different style, while Rainbows Roads are more like similar redesign and putting two would decrease the diversity. Unless there are more retro races in the next title.

MK7 had SNES Rainbow Road and a new Rainbow Road.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I really hope N64 Rainbow Road doesn't return. It's a bore-fest with a side of snores.

And the Rainbow Cup idea is the most abused, unoriginal idea I've seen suggested. It's been suggested about a million times nearly every time there's a new Mario Kart game and it won't get it in. It's also going to be highly boring to race on. No variety =/= no fun.

Re: Mario Kart 8

personally they need to switch up the rainbow road tracks because they are pretty dang similar. I mean you'd think there'd be some wacky ideas all over the place, but nooooooooooooooooope

Re: Mario Kart 8

Hey, at least they tried differentiating with 3DS Rainbow Road, which is why it's my favorite Rainbow Road.

Hmm yeah still need to play 7 to find out if that game is good or what. Although the fact that they attempted to make rainbow road different is always a nice thing.
