I think it's because toad was blue in SMB2.
This saying is to be determined. If we consider it true, we can't see an independent playable Peach or a new Mario team (eg,Mario+Peach+Wario+Toadette) in the future SMB games, which isn't a good thing too.

And the question that red and blue Toad were seperate in past games isn't solved. In Japanese new it wasn't clearly said to be Kinopio or another person too.

Toad the species is a special case. They have identitcal looks but doesn't differ with natural colors like yoshis or koopa-troopas, so their costume is the only personal signature. If one of them needs to change clothes, in theory there must be a cut scene to explain it.

There are three decent reasons as to why Toad is Blue

>Homage to Super Mario Bros. 2, which this game takes the character abilities from
>Bringing back Blue Toad from NSMBW & NSMBU because he was one if the four co-op characters.
>The colours are Red, Green, Pink & Blue. Blue Toad makes the colour coded part of this stronger, since he normally has Red dots. The colours on the others are very obvious but on toad it's a lot smaller and not very obvious so making him Blue makes it a whole lot easier to notice which character you when you are looking for your colour.

I'm sorry if I'm not good at explaining this but it makes sense that they would choose Blue Toad over generic Toad, either one would fit but Blue Toad makes a stronger connection to the colour he represents in-game than regular Toad does.

ok so far this thread is the one with more post and more likely to gat sticked so im will post...

A Really Big Post here:
Ok lets play Snifit or Whiffit"Analyze that Game" were we tried to find the story before nintendo reveal it!

So far we have this image:

WiiU_SuperMario_scrn04_E3.png

This guys is a mix between yoshi and dorri, i find it cool, but wait, who is the Fairy-Like pokemon Creature?, rigth know people is screaming "SUBCON" but maybe that can be something else, maybe a new alien-creature.

Why? because the next image.
SM3DWtower.png

This image was in the trailer, shows Toad in a miny-level, but look, the icon isn´t Blue Toad, is "THE" Toad, and looks like its confirmed "THE" Toad is the Captain of the Toad Brigade from galaxy 1 and 2, so, this game maybe is more like a direct sequel to the galaxy series and have some connection with it, but why toad is here, and why he is playable only in this scene?, well, i think is more like a mini-stage like the Boxes Stages in 3D Land, look, toad has 5 stars slots instead 3 and there is 4 green stars in the place, so this can be a minigame or something that help you to collect the stars, other detail are the green stars, another connection with the Galaxy Series, instead Star Medals, we have Green Stars, why?, is Bowser Trying to conquer the universe again but from his home planet?, are the fairy things connected with this?, maybe, oh and we are sure that bowser still behind this because all the Bowser Sybomls and enemies in the game.

Look.
SM3DWruins.png

Yes, peach is playable and many think bowser isn´t the villain now, but remember, Bowser has many other plots in the spin-offs games, maybe this one don´t involve peach at all and involve the fairy things, and look is Chargin´Chuck, well maybe is a let down don´t have Wart as villain, but we can see that the multiplayer aspect isnt the only think that can be a reference to SMB2.

Behold the AMAZIN´ DESSERT...desert
WiiU_SuperMario_scrn09_E3.png

Unlike NSMBU this Desert is made totally with cake, you can see the layers and the Meringue, but the structure in the background looks like an arabian palace, and the SMB2 theme is more arabic one (because Doki Doki Panic), but wait there´s another possible reference.

The Dragon-Serpent-Worm Boss
WiiU_SuperMario_scrn05_E3.png

This guy looks like Cobrat from SMB2, unlike past games, this one has an original boss instead the Koopalings, or Boom Booms, its the first time since Galaxy 2 we had original bosses, oddly, in the demo, the boss can be find in a separate level (4-Boss) unlike the other mario games, maybe its because the boss its a little more complicated that a koopaling boss, or to avoid made the demo too long, i dont know why but we can see the place is some sort of carnival decored castle, and in the trailer we can see a normal castle level with lava...maybe its a diferent level, maybe the castle leves will be separate from bosses levels now...or as i said before, the separate the boss from the level to avoid a look demo.

Before i finish i need to recall, Cat-Luigi is a Cheetah, just like Tanooki-Luigi is a Kitsune(fox) instead a Racoon, Peach is a little shorter in this game and mini peach has short hair and Fire Peach has ponytail, and remember, 3D Land had some special bosses after the normal ending so maybe we can see wart as a special boss.

Well a long post but i wish i made my point...see ya

Uh, I still don't get it since none of them make answers to the previous points:

>Bringing back Blue Toad from NSMBW & NSMBU because he was one if the four co-op characters.

The premise is the majority really accept what they got since NSMBWii, regardless of popular main characters who get more support. In all examples, it is more likely to be Miyamoto's laziness.

> Blue Toad makes the colour coded part of this stronger, since he normally has Red dots.

The contradiction is, it doesn't have to be toads. Even though they have the most thing to do when Bowser invades their kingdom, Peach isn't kidnapped this time.
As said, color theory doesn't really make sense since Daisy and Wario can replace the yellow toad last time (or Toadbert replaces blue toad?). Or I still doubt why can't Nintendo give mulitple color options as same as spinoffs. Maybe people want to play as lime toads sometimes.

SMB2(USA) could be the truth. However, as long as new fans don't really understand NES things, not all referring make effects. Pauline's case would be reasonable since she is to explain the relationships between major characters, but the generic blue toad doesn't make necessary help but possible chaos.

Isn't their already a topic?
Yeah... what happened was NSY's thread was created when Nintendo announced a new Mario game which was to be revealed later on. Then I forgot that thread was the same concept as this one, and this was started when the game was officially revealed at E3. NSY renamed his thread from "upcoming 3D Mario title" to "Super Mario 3D World", and we've ended up with two threads. Sorry for the inconvenience this causes. Those who have moderator right, please take the appropriate action.

I'm already wondering for a little while when these two get merged.

I played Super Mario 3D World in the Best Buy. I enjoyed it, and it's better than 3D Land. Still, BabyLuigiOnFire decided to speed run through the dang thing. And we're allowed to play one level...

The new game is on display in stores already?!!

(I also keep forgetting to mention, it also has both regular goombas and SMW-style bodyless ones. I think it was NSMBU that had both?

What's supposed to be the difference between them, in practical terms?)

The SMW Goombas take two hits to kill. They're like Koopas. One hit knocks them over, but they can get back up. Also, NSMBU only had standard Goombas.

Took you some time.

So yes. But only at Best Buy.

Wasn't there one of the other games that had both? I know this isn't the first time I saw those. Perhaps SMG2, then?

Don't know if this is specifically a Super Mario game, but they seem to be associating it with 3DW:

I tried two of them, here in NYC. (Neither one even had the WiiU set up). Where did you see it at Best Buy?

(Thanks, mods for combining the threads!)

If with 'you', you mean me, then you are at the wrong one. Best Buy doesn't operate on my continent.

uh
Obviously s/he means a more widely use, not merely in one or two games.

But it's a SMB game, the reuse part are mostly some secondary/minor enemies or items. More important uses like reintroducing partner characters would only happen in other RPG sequels or spinoffs.

I assumed you were the one who said you saw it. But I see you weren't.
Anyway, I found out it was a limited demo at some stores, and found out which ones in the area, but when I got there, I was told it was only for a few days. :(
Oh, well, the guy who did play it was sure lucky!
