Anser, calm the fuck down. Miyamoto has done a lot for Nintendo, and though I agree that his current innovations in games have been rather ineffective, doesn't mean that he's a completely terrible person and stuff. Let's see you run Nintendo and all the projects and doing everything he has had to do, and see probably how much stuff he deals with on a daily basis.

This is exactly what I said. He did well in the past, but that's not a reason to keep him in if he's not making the right decisions now. And I never said he's a terrible person, I just want him to retire. It's not like I want him to die or anything. I'll always credit him for creating my favorite series in the world, but that's the exact same reason why I want him to go away: he's ruining it. And right now I wouldn't be able to do what he does because I'm still a student, but it's one of my dreams and possible goals in life, and I'm sure I could do it.

Oh, for goodness sake, giving a story to a main Mario game is just stupid! We don't need a story. You know why? Because, if there's a story, we're going to be interrupted every few levels with "Oh, Mario, here's some more stuff about the plot".

Guess what? There already is a story. There are characters, there's a plot, there's a climax, there's a resolution.

Not a good one by any sort of means whatsoever, but still, there's a story.

At least give us an optional storyline like Rosalina's book or whatever, don't make us just go rescue effing Peach because she's been kidnapped for the trillionth time.

I don't mind saving someone for centillion times or new stories, the major problem from recent SMB titles should be story contradictions.

The other concern could be that without proper plot, it still looks like saving another damsel without new tricks (uh, though it's much better playing as Peach).

I got excited for a second D: I guess I'll have to wait. If she doesn't appear, it's ok, but I'd like her to have a cameo, at least. If she does get a bigger role I'll be happier, of course. I doubt this, though. If her role was big she would have appeared somewhere by now.

I like Rosalina, but since it's not about the observatory this time, chances would better be given to other characters that haven't been in SMB titles for a while (not including those who should already exist in Mushroom Kingdom).

People have been giving Miyamoto a lot of hell recently. I think they're being too hard on him. After looking at the list of games created by him, he still makes great games.

Nintendo Land was great
New Super Mario Bros. U was good
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was good
Pikmin 3 was good

That's 4 out of 4 games!
And I'm sure this will be good, which might make it 5 for 5.

Yes, Sticker Star sucked, but Miyamoto wasn't involved in the creation of that game.

And about that story, I couldn't care less. If I wanted a story, I'd go see a movie. All I care about is the gameplay and the graphics. Besides, I like filling my own blanks in.

Miyamoto was the reason that Sticker Star was changed from being like TTYD to what it was. He was very involved in the game's creation.

And I agree that Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin 3 were excellent examples of him still having it. Nintendo Land for the most part.

But I wouldn't include NSMBU into it, but it was just a rehash of the other NSMB games, even though I agree it was the best out of the 4 of them.

Let me just clarify something here...

New Super Mario Bros. U may have not been a bad game. It's just that it's WAY TOO FUCKING REPETITIVE. I mean, we've had the exact same game FOUR TIMES. All four New Super Mario Bros. games are basically the same crap with a couple of new features and that's it. They're not innovative whatsoever.

And Miyamoto wasn't involved in the creation of Sticker Star, but it was his fault it turned out that badly. Sticker Star was originally going to be similar to Thousand-Year Door (the best RPG Mario game, hands down) but nooo, Miyamoto intervened and he said he didn't want that, so they had to start from zero to create that piece of shit.

Done. :D

Unless there are innovative and available ideas, maybe the next NSMB would still be the same thing. The major problems are, even though 2D platformers are one of the important origins of whole Mario series, Nintendo want to sell NSMB into every console so bad, but the game itself doesn't have that magic, and we don't see them solve plot contradictions for too many times.

My opinion is, they should slow it down. Temporarily concentrate on other mainstream games including Wario, DK series, SM3DW, and then return to think how to make a NSMB2/NSMBU. It could probably help the quality, or at least make us wait without boredom. Well, maybe NSMB would be overshadowed by any of them :P.

Personally, I don't want to see another New Super Mario Bros. title in around 15 years. It should be for the Wii U's successor's successor's successor or something like that.

You may hate the NSMB games, but people keep buying, playing, and liking them, even after 4 games, so Nintendo is doing something right by making them. They won't stop until the next game sells horribly.

False. Knowing Nintendo, they'll have another go at releasing another one after that, with "improvements".

I bet there is a picture of this somewhere on the internet. (Nintendo milking the NSMB series)

The closest thing is Iwata and Miyamoto using a DS to print money.

Nintendo Land was great lol no it wasn't, it was a group of twelve shallow minigames, half of which could have been made on the Wii
New Super Mario Bros. U was good joy, another rehash. it wasn't bad, but it's not like they really have to put effort into making these
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was good again, it was basically a longer version of Luigi's Mansion (and a worse version, imo)
Pikmin 3 was good haven't played, though i suppose it's probably good
