This was actually really funny.

The funniest part was "cattoad". Athough there was too much talking and not enough playing.

I posted this in the ''suggestions & imporvements'' topic, but I think I'll ask the question here...

I was wondering, in the Super Mario 3D World article, there is a References to Other Games section...

I was wondering... In the :bowser:-8 level (A Beam in the Dark), there is a Luigi Switch...

Since this is a ghost house level, and that this is the only switch that requires Luigi to activate it in the entire game, should we consider this as a reference to Luigi's Mansion?

I dunno, that didn't pop up in my mind...it's a little vague

That's overthinking it, in my opinion.

Oh, and by the way, Baby Luigi and I 100% with the help of our brother. Yup, we got all stamps.

Since I have no friends how do you suggest I get the last five stamps faster than having to essentially beat the game four more times?

Get controllers and spawn people near the flagpole. That should do it.

Yeah but how much time do I have to grab the remaining three controllers and jump on the pole with each character before the level ends?

And furthermore, I only have two Wiimotes and the Wiiu gamepad so what do I do? That's only three!

Play the level twice.

Just align the characters in a spot where it is easy to grab the flagpole. Maybe get some people to help.

In levels like rushing to the flagpole, do them one by one. These levels, thankfully, are short levels anyway.

i don't get why people hate super mario galaxy 2 simply because it's similar to the other one. for example, i've never seen the first three sonic games suffer from these problems, and, essentially, they were pretty similar, despite adding a new character each time or something (and they were great games). so i'm not sure why super mario galaxy 2 suffers from this, especially considering it adds a quite a lot more than those games. super mario galaxy 2's levels were fun and well-designed. i'd honestly be pretty happy if it was super mario galaxy 3.

The problem with your argument is that the Sonic games were made 20 years ago and everyone is now accustomed to expect more from a sequel than just DLC at full retail price.

I found a fast way to beat the two hissocrats in boss blitz (requires at least two players)

If you're playing with two players, toss the other player on top of it

Exactly. I do NOT want to shell out 50 dollars for a game like this instead of another game with much more effort poured onto it.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is basically Super Mario Galaxy with new addons and worse swimming controls.

It does not deserve anywhere near a 9/10, yet its Metacritic average is 97/100. That's way too high. There's nothing so redeeming about Super Mario Galaxy 2 to warrant such an unbelievably high score, so I think there's huge bias. It's not just the critics either. The fans also praise this game up the ass.

Super Mario Galaxy is still original, but like the first one, its Metacritic score is way too high (again, 97), but at least an honest score would be closer to this.

Okay since I am 99% through this game (beat everything except for Crown-Crown and Crown-House) I can share my opinions.

Pros:

-The Graphics. This, along with Pikmin and Wind Waker might just be one of the games that really show off what the Wii U is capable of.
-The Easter Eggs. Link + Zelda Music. Enough has been said here.
-The Gameplay. While it is basically the same as in SM3DL, I really liked some of the new power-ups (Bullet Bill helmet, Cat Mario), and also liked how each character got their own speciality (even though Rosalina is arguably the best (Spin-Attack)).
-Super Mario Galaxy. Everything in this game related to Super Mario Galaxy makes it a whole lot better.
-Diversity. Excluding the 'Shroom and Flower worlds every level was something totally different. I especially liked Crown-House and the level in Star World where you chase the flagpost.

Cons:

-Length. While the overall length of the game is ok, compared to other 3D Mario Games this was really short. Especially if you don't aim for 100% of all items.
-Story.
-Music. 60% of this game's music has been reused. Although that isn't necessarily bad, I would have loved to see more new stuff.
-Golden Tanooki Leaf.

Overall Rating: Super Mario 3D Land<Super Mario 3D World<<Super Mario Galaxy

SMG2<SMS<SM3DL<SM64<SMG

to me, anyways, haven't played this one yet

also, I still think SMS is a damn good game

SMG2 is the only one I actually dislike

I personally have no problem with the golden tanuki leaf. I personally feel it prevents unnecessary frustration. Would you rather see a kid throwing a tandrum because he can't beat a level or see him enjoying the game because he can actually do something about the level being too difficult for him? Also, the tanuki leaf is completely optional. Therefore, I don't see how it is a con. In addition, didn't people have cheat codes and even game enhancers back then, which gave you even more advantages than the tanuki leaf can?

In addition, talking about how video games were in the past is not a very valid argument. Years have passed, gaming has changed over those years introducing new things, and it will only keep changing as the years go on and people need to except that.

I have a problem with it because merely seeing it stops the stars-a sparklin on your file. Once again, even if you don't use it. So I had to turn the Wii U off everytime I died five times, which happened virtually ALWAYS because I was going for the three Green Stars and the Stamp, and almost never by virtue of the hardness of the levels themselves. VERY annoying.

It's as if people might have different opinions THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS

What.....? That's one hell of an exaggeration.

There's only two "reused" tracks I can think of off the top of my head: the Gusty Garden theme and the Snow Overworld from 3D Land, both of which have been remixed and aren't practically copy/paste like the New Super Mario Bros. series post-Wii.

Are you sure you just didn't use one accidentally? I thought it only stopped sparkling if you actually USED one, not if it appeared.

We had a block appear. We still have sparkling stars

If I am correct, if you ever use the White Tanooki in a level. If you want those Shining stars all you have to do is replay that level again without grabbing it. I am not sure if this is true but I believe Gamexplain said it in a video.

I think that both Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 deserve their 100/100s very freaking much. They're awesome games, and no game is perfect. Their problem is the swimming controls, and all Mario games have been awful at that. I'm sick of people saying that Galaxy 2 doesn't deserve its praise just because it's a rehash of another game. If the first one was excellent, and this one is a rehash, of course it's excellent too. That doesn't make it have less credit.

I haven't even finished Galaxy 1 yet. However, I feel Galaxy 2 got so much because Galaxy 1 was so great that fans were begging for more. As a result, they basically excepted anything from the sequel just because their beloved Galaxy returns.

I never played the sequel so I can't say anything about it, but it looks like a huge improvement over the original.

Anyway, the music in this game is great. Some music is something you wouldn't even expect in a mario game (play the japanese catsle level to hear what I mean).

I like the enemy battle theme, but I would prefer it was this...

I have signed my death sentence by saying that...

Okay I might have been a bit too harsh on that one. The remixed stuff was indeed quite good, and also I totally forgot about that SMG remix. I basically just searched for another con so it looks more professional.

Oh and about those sparkling stars, I used the white tanooki suit several times by accident, I just simply never reached the goal with it, and still have sparkling stars.
