Are the latest mario games better than old mario games?

New Mario games are good, but nothing can top the Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2 combo.

Mario Sunshine which perhaps was a disappointment after Mario 64.

Mario had good or bad games then, and he has good or bad games now. Can't really judge them on a time period.

The Worst Mario games were back in those days, Mario is missing, Mario's Time Machine and Hotel Mario were all said to be horrible.

I felt the same way. I found Sunshine soooo boring.

...video showing disapproval with jetty's comment...

...anser supposedly agrees with me...

...says sunshine is boring...

...when I just said the exact opposite thing...

...mindfuck?

I just wanted to show how I agree with him and disagree with you at the same time.

Tough :???: , but I'm going to have to go with the newer ones (even though I grew up with an N64). ;D

Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite 3d platformer, and NSMBU is my favorite 2D one, but DKCR is a very close second.
Bros. U to me is like the redemption of the NSMB series, and can hold up against SMW and the god-like SMB3.

My favorite systems are SNES and Wii. 8)

ohhhh you were agreeing with him

why didn't you just say that

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place.

Your whole set (nickname, avatar, signature and everything) is epic, by the way.

.. I really gotta hand it to nintendo for not just focusing on one type of series but keeping 'em all goin~ :3
Well, of course they do that. Unlike SEGA, Nintendo has more than one cash cow (they have four), and if you have cash cows, why not milk them?

People seem to easily forget what was so great about the old games. Why was Super Mario World great? It was completely new - and still better than NSMBU, by the way. Brand new graphics, brand new idea of Yoshi, brand new music - barely and rehashed ones - branching paths and connected overworld (which was done much better than NSMBU, anyway. While playing NSMBU, the overworld still felt like separate worlds just placed on the same map.) Completely new enemies - again, there were barely any rehashed ones. New moves, new powerups.

What did NSMBU introduce? One meager new powerup (besides those Baby Yoshi things that, far from making the game interesting, were barely ever used and only made the game easier instead of adding new mechanics and stuff.) Mostly rehashed music, mostly rehashed enemies.

Sure, it had some good level design. But at the end of the day it simply can't compare to World.

I do see what you mean, I completely agree that SMW's innovation was through the roof.
I love that P-Balloon btw :).

I do think that NSMBU is equal to World in terms of gameplay, not innovation.

I recommend you delete your last post and next time modify it if you screw up again.

I've never played U but it looks ok and has some original elements in.

I'm just sad they put in Glider Mario or whatever they call it.

IF you're going to give a Mario game a flying power-up, give it a CAPE OR TANOOKI SUIT!

Older games are easily better, but I still like some of the newer games.

No. The reasons are that they have recycled music that I'm just ABSOLUTELY TIRED of hearing and most of the boss battles are easy. Sure, Boom Boom in Mario 3, some false Bowsers from the first game, and all boss battles in Super Mario World except for Bowser were easy but still, most new boss battles are reaching the first false Bowser/Boom Boom level of difficulty. However, New Super Mario Bros. U took some steps in the right direction with some harder boss battles, some new music, and an epic final boss.

I like to consider NSMBU as like a test run for Nintendo, as they improved in some aspects here and there for the Mario series. I think now they're actually learning from their mistakes, and actually changing something when it NEEDS to be changed. =P

NSMBW's final boss was actually quite difficult.

NSMB2's final boss on the other hand was EASY

I beat NSMBW back in 2010, I don't remember it being difficult at all. The final boss was Bowser, right? The only part that I consider difficult about that game was World 9, and getting all the Star Coins in it, but I eventually managed to finish that.
