Is it bad that every time I hear about a new superhero appearing in these movies, I think in the back of my mind "More corpses for Thanos in Avengers 3?" I think Avengers 3 is going to be a massive film for the cinematic universe. I expect some dead heores. Especially considering that the contracts for Downey Jr. and Chris Evans expire with Avengers 3.
Honestly...
if Coulsen, and even Nick Fury are any indication, it's that characters never truly stay dead... or, at the very least, the MCU has a way of writing characters out of death, typically in a more skillful fashion then the actual comics.

Though you do raise a point, hopefully they won't go TOO crazy when Thanos inevitably gets his Infinity Gauntlet and all the Infinity Stones.

Speaking of new heroes, I decided to browse through certain Marvel superheroes on TV Tropes, to see who could potentially show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Setting aside heroes who are going to show up (Ant-Man [hopefully], Doctor Strange, the Netflix heroes [Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones], etc.) and heroes owned by other studios (Spider-Man [unless he DOES show up in Avengers 3], X-Men, Fantastic Four... Apparently Namor is owned by Universal... Who owns Blade, again? Man-Thing is also apparently owned by another movie-making studio, but I don't know who)...

Well, obvious choices include Black Panther and Ms. Marvel. After people got riled up about what David Goyer said, perhaps a She-Hulk movie wouldn't be out of the question? I'd like Beta Ray Bill to show up in an upcoming Thor movie sometime, same for The Incredible Hercules. Once the Ant-Man movie's been sorted out, maybe the Wasp will show up? Since Guardians of the Galaxy is coming up, perhaps we'll get a Nova movie (Nova's pretty much the Green Lanterns of the Marvel universe), and while we're at it, perhaps Adam Warlock will pop up in the movie?

Could Cloak & Dagger be possible, or are they more closely associated with Spider-Man? I've read up about Captain Universe, who DEFINITELY sounds like an interesting concept... if they do it right.

There's one superhero I just found out about while doing this, though, and I'm shocked to have not found out about him sooner, because he sounds awesome!

The Awesome Slapstick!

He's basically a superhero who's superpower is being a cartoon character (technically, going through a portal to "Dimension X" caused his body to change into "electroplasm", an indestructible and infinitely malleable substance, allowing him to stretch, twist, and basically take any kind of hit and recover instantly), and he "fights crime" by pulling incredibly cruel pranks on the bad guys... and also mashes them with his giant mallet. He was voted "best new character" in 1992, but his series only lasted 4 issues before he faded into obscurity, though he does make brief appearances from time to time.

Hell yeah, I would love to see this guy show up in the MCU somehow (he's even friends with a guy called Mike Peterson)! ...Then I was reminded of something... Wouldn't it be weird... if Howard the Duck turned up at some point? :P

ANYWAY, that's what I'd like to see out of the MCU in the future. Given Guardians of the Galaxy and the risks its taking, I'd say anything's possible.

time to get this hype train back on track

EDIT: and TV spot 2

You're welcome.

Ant-Man officially has a new director (plus someone to help with the screenplay):

http://marvel.com/news/movies/2014/6/7/22643/director_peyton_reed_and_writer_adam_mckay_join_marvels_ant-man

...Plus, an official plot synopsis!

"Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world."

Sounds pretty cool! As for the new director, I took a look at his previous works and...

...

...Well, at least they have a new director now.

So...ant man is a thief?
Well, one of them is. Ant-Man was three different people in the comics (I kind of forget if that's how many... I also think that Scott Lang did, in fact, steal the Ant-Man suit in the comics as well).
