Well FINALLY, they changed up Luigi's moveset to include the Poltergust! Actually, if you look closely, it's the Poltergust 5000 from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, as opposed to the Poltergust 3000 from the original Luigi's Mansion. This makes WAY more sense then that trippy-ass Negative Zone that was barely justified as being Luigi's "dark side that he suppressed from being in Mario's shadow".Ira Gamagoori said:
Looks like some characters are going to have a different Final Smash from Brawl's as we can see in this picture: instead of the Negative Zone which had nothing to do with Luigi, we're now getting a more Luigi-centric final smash, the Poltergust. Judging from Sakurai's quote, it seems it'll be used to suck people in. I was hoping it could be used to release generic ghosts and Boos at the opponents.
...Actually, it's not explicitly stated if this was a Final Smash or not. Then again, someone commented on the Super Smash Bros. Wiki that you have to draw the line between "playful toying with fanbase" and "deliberately misleading them", and saying this isn't a Final Smash would be crossing that line. After all, he's glowing like characters do during a Final Smash, so just saying that he just so happens to be using a move WHILE charged up to use his Final Smash would be really stretching it.
Not to mention, this move would make a lot more sense as a Final Smash then as a regular move. Mario using the F.L.U.D.D. as a regular move was interesting but, for me anyway, had very limited practical use. Similar, a regular move wherin Luigi just uses his Poltergust to suck in opponents, even if it's like Kirby and King Dedede's Inhale move, doesn't have that much use, either. As a Final Smash, though, I could totally see how it could work! Like, Luigi powers up his Poltergust, and a giant whirlwind forms, and Luigi has to suck up as many opponents as he can during a limited timeframe. Then, once he's sucked everyone up (or time runs out), he shoots them back out, resulting in an instant KO! Sounds pretty awesome to me!
