Now that the hype is calming down a bit from the trailer reveal a few days ago, I think its a good time to discuss the status on the Gematsu leak! I'm going over both what makes it legit and what makes it seem fake.
All around /r/smashbros and Smash Boards a lot of people are prancing around and saying this particular leak is "dead" and "completely fake." However anyone that knows how the game development process and leaks work shouldn't be surprised at one missing character. I'd say Chrom not being playable critically damaged it, but didn't KO it. After all Brawl has those empty Dixie, Mewtwo, and Toon Zelda files on the disk. If a leak claimed all of those characters would be in alongside the current roster we got in Brawl, it'd be because things can change during the process. It completely depends on when this "leaker" got his info and who he is and where he works in the company.
If anyone followed the Pokemon X/Y leaks, they were able to leak the exact English names of several new Pokemon before we knew they existed (with minor spelling errors) but a couple of features mentioned in their leak were not in X/Y at all. Some parts were 100% true and others didn't happen at all! It could be the same for Gematsu. At the same time he could be lucky and just have guessed these characters since a lot of them like Palutena/Villager were obvious shoe-ins and some guesses like "Pokemon from X/Y" were vague enough that they'd work without having to make a specific guess.
What does the lack of Chrom mean? Well one thing it means is this list, assuming its real, isn't a list of every character. AKA: We can expect other characters besides these guys on the list. It ALSO means "Anything can change!!!" (Chrom quote) and some of these characters can be cut during development. The people afraid of including the new/unheard of to many Chorus Boys will all be crossing their fingers that they'll be one of the characters to get the boot (maybe in exchange for another more suitable-for-combat Rhythm Heaven character like Karate Joe/The Wrestler).
Also I think now's a good time to discuss where people think a leak like this is coming from. A lot of people assume leaks are magical "knows everything" list but it really depends on where this stuff is coming from. Is it an artist who textures/models the models and just assumed the Chrom model he made would be for a playable character? Is it a leak from someone who was there from early in the development process and isn't currently there to see what things are being cut/changed? What about those weird comments about the leaker claiming to know about DLC/cutting Lucas. Some of that stuff seems fishy! =.=
What do I personally think? Well looking at this leak logically... it's gotten 8 out of 9 characters right. Nothing on the list has been a lie except for Chrom, which even then wasn't a total lie considering he has soooome presence in the game. Most of the characters listed are obvious guesses like Palutena and Villager, but the risky predictions like WFT and Pac-Man on one list gives it a lot of credit. Missing Chrom and hyping everyone for Shulk the day before the Fire Emblem trailer however makes it look REALLY bad though. Also the "Sal Romano" posting on Smash Boards keeps saying some very conflicting information like the "they're currently discussing whether to keep Lucas or not" while at the same time claiming that the leaker "knows what has been done but doesn't know what they're currently doing and changing."
I think it still leans towards being legit considering the mathmatical odds of guessing such a list almost completely correctly. I'd say I'm 70% sure its legit and all doubt will be erased if those Chorus Boys get in. Why Chorus Boys? Because they're not the main character of their game like Shulk would be. There's like 30 games in Rhythm Heaven featuring original characters in each one, and guessing the Chorus Boys would be astronomically impossible imo. So the only thing left to do to see how accurate this "leak" is to play the waiting game. I don't think any amount of speculation will crack open the walnut of truth!

I've heard that Robin has this spell called Nosferatu, and I heard that it can also heal him (not sure how though)... o.o
If so, can someone point out where/when in the trailer he uses it? I don't know how the spell looks like. =P

I personally still believe the leak is dead because it has three strikes against (the reveal on Monday alone has three strikes against it).
-Rosalina was not mentioned in the leak at all
-"Pokemon from X/Y" is about as specific as saying "character from Mario"
-The entire trailer on Monday, which had:
--Shulk not being confirmed even though the leaker said he'd be confirmed
--Chrom being confirmed as non-playable
--Lucina and Robin being playable without mention from the leaker
I'm just going to call bull*bleep* on this and hope people stop praising the leak as gospel.
You don't just accurately predict the Miis names to be "Mii Fighters". I think he has some info, but some of his info is either outdated or just plain wrong. The theory is that the supposed leaker works for E3 or works somewhere in marketing. His info really only popped up during major events. Again, The Wii Fit Trainer and accurately calling the Miis "Mii Fighters" might be something. Look again at the X and Y leaks. The leaks had incredibly accurate info and stuff way far off in the same leak.Magolor said:I'll admit Wii Fit trainer was a "risky" prediction, but can Pac-Man seriously be considered one? apparently, sakurai had to cut a character (gee, i wonder who THIS could've been) and decided to make lucina a full on character instead of an alt, and basically made a marth clone
now, i'm not trying to insinuate anything but cutting a character, which then had to force an alt to become a full on character from fire emblem SOUNDS VERY SUSPICIOUS *cough*chrom*cough*

lucina's more popular everywhere, i don't know what you're talking aboutGalacticPetey said:Hmm. Haven't seen anything else on that. I think Chrom may have been the one cut. Perhaps he was considered for the role of "Marth clone' but they went with Lucina because she's more popular in Japan and she would add another female character.
