Meh, I don't know. I mean, I know they are Assist Trophies, but there have to be some un-assisting ones as well, as that would be a bit of like "I got it and now I have a great advantage for the next 5-30 seconds. Plus, it does "assist" a bit though too, as it is not like it only does it to you but the others as well. It's basically an "Assistant or Neutral" Trophy.

When playing Smash with my sister we sprung up a conversation about being able to turn off specific pokemon and assist trophies because we were sick of Goldeen and Devil.

There were a few unlockable assist trophies in Brawl

Though it might of just been Grey Fox and Shadow when you unlocked Snake and Sonic respectively

Most of it's just educated guessing. The website isn't run by Sakurai, it's fan-made (and bloody well done).

Looks like as of today's screenshot we finally know if Yellow Devil is a Stage Hazard or a Boss. (Though there's still room for both being possible)

Sakurai said on Miiverse Yellow Devil comes in from the background. So it looks like sometimes when you're fighting on Wily's Castle. The Yellow Devil will come in to interrupt the fight. So it is indeed a Stage Hazard.
