Mario is the Mickey Mouse of Nintendo. Even those that aren't too familiar with Nintendo or Disney know who Mario and Mickey Mouse are. It's like saying Donald Duck is just as or more iconic then Mickey. It's true that he is really well-known and probably amongst the most well-known Disney characters and it's easy to say Luigi is also fairly well-known even outside of Nintendo. But he still isn't at the level that Mickey Mouse or Mario achieved where it's completely hard to not know what they are when you've lived long enough in countries where Video games or Cartoons are widespread and popular.

Man I've been looking at the 3DS version and was like "Where's all the character expressions?" but I don't think the 3DS version can do all that. Dedede looks almost as dead as his Brawl model. Man the Wii U version is going to be great with screenshots with all the character expression above and beyond Brawl.
