Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

So I somehow managed to do 1-K on my second try with only DK....

I never actually beat it because the first time I went in there because I died halfway through from spikes and essentially ragequitted. I don't know if I should count my blessings or not....

Man I've wasted like 90 lives on 1-K. This game is bananas

I've been having trouble with 4-1. There are 7 puzzle pieces there, but I can only seem to find 6 of them. Even Squawks can't seem to pinpoint the location of this last puzzle piece, and it's really getting me annoyed.

i haven't been bothering getting the puzzle pieces

i try to get them if i can find them but i'll just pick the rest up on another run after i beat the game

I'm starting to wonder if 4-1 has a well-placed secret exit, as I've been asking myself if the last puzzle piece is located there.

Edit: Spoilers...

I've found 4-1's secret exit. I did have to backtrack to find it, and one of the puzzle pieces is found there as well.

This game's been keeping me away from the Boards... I'll post some pics and get the level pages on the wiki going soon.

I just unlocked Hard Mode................

Fun times ahead.............is what I would say if 7-2 and 7-3 didn't burn me out from the game. Seriously, those levels go way to long and 7-2 combines my hatred of Rocket Barrels with shitty unstable platform and Bopopolis jumping. If you sucked at Bopopolis, you'll suck at this world I'm warning you right now.

Just got it.

I hate having to be DK though he sucks. He can't even jump lol. (my sister is the other character :P )

Other than that it's awesome. Love the music and it's really gorgeous.

Gamepad controls feel kind of awkward. I keep rolling into spikes. Hopefully I get used to it.

My god the final boss is hard, already wasted like 10 lives. His hitbox is so small, you have to jump right between the shoulders. I can't even do it with extra hearts and 2 banana juices. Does he have a second form?

From peoples reactions to certain level of this game, I think this game will be the death of me.

I already had a bad taste in my mouth from Champions Road, now this?

It's way easier to get balloons if it counts.

And it wasn't easy to get lives in Super Mario 3D World? Lives are meaningless and totally irrelevant to a games difficulty. I was at 7-1 last night and surprisingly it was a good bit easier than the unlock able floating giant banana and oranges and exploding strawberry platforms from the original. But there is still a whole world like it to go. Without spoiling anything, all three Kongs are good partners for the final boss. Dixie is good because well, she's Dixie. Useful especially for getting some air when he raises the platforms in the air. If you come down too soon, you'll take an eternal lava nap in real life, or coming back hanging on a red balloon in this game. Cranky is useful for jumping over the boss safely, and don't underestimate Diddy. His left to right jet can get you a precise landing on the bosses back. Really the final boss in this game is most comparable to Thugly from dkcr, but on steroids. with all the difficulty and uncertainty of having to land on the back of an enemy charging head first at you, with tough as nails attacks to have to dodge throughout. He simply rapes the final dkcr boss in terms of difficulty.

No, they matter.

Because checkpoints are taken off if you get a game over.

Whatever it is, I'm going to abuse those items like heck like I did with DKC Returns.

OK, so the other characters are pointless.

Dixie Kong is really the only one worth using. (cranky sometimes, but he just gets annoying)

I wish they balanced the characters more and gave Diddy and DK different/more powers.

Dixie and Cranky will probably be my saviors in many potential deaths.

Crankys cane does not deploy sometimes. I don't know why they didn't just let you hold A to pogo instead of having to let go and push it again at the apex of the jump. This never would have been a problem.

oh, okay

i know where the 2-4 exit is, i just can't get to it for my life.
you're supposed to jump off the big bird thingy to get to the lower track near the end of the level, right? i can't get the cart to bounce high enough to make the jump

Anyways, Worlds 1-3 are completed on Hard mode for me. World 4 is fucking impossible thanks to Irate Eight, Fugu Face-off, Shoal Atoll.....actually fuck World 4 in general except for Rockin' Relics that level's awesome. Also, not looking forward to Blurry Flurry from World 6 and Panicky Paddles from World 5.

The Irate Gamer released a new episode today and mentioned this game.

wow everyone's been going through this game so fast and i'm still on world 2 lol

i haven't really had much time to play

I got the game yesterday (as many of you already know).

Just beat Fugu. I swear, the Y button fails to deploy like half the time, which was the death of me. I loved the battle though!

This game is just...it's so much fun, but it's bringing out my trash mouth. Lol, 2-K I died like 30 times, with 20 of them being because I made a small error, and the rest being when I passed an area and entered unknown territory. Once you learn the pattern though, it is a piece of cake! I actually found it to not be a challenge at all.

To be honest though, while I think this game is definitely harder than DKCR, I am finding that I am dying less often than I did in DKCR. Half the time I die, it's intentional because I missed a puzzle piece.

And World 3 is definitely my favorite so far!!! The Savannah theme is definitely very cool.

And I love how all the worlds in this game are so unique and don't follow suite of the standard world formula stuff. I mean, World 3 being a savannah with unique levels like the wildfire and the tornado one, and world two with all the windmill stuff and the music one. It really makes me love this game.

It definitely is better than DKCR so far, and it is far from being an "expansion pack" of the first one like SMG2 was. It definitely is it's own unique sequel.
