The official "I hate this game" thread

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

I love graphics, but i don't define hyper-realistic graphics as the best.

halo anniversary is good, plus you can get it for pc, which is always a bonus
You can also get the original Halo: Combat Evolved for PC, which is what I played it on.

I never got anniversary because I thought, "why get this when I already have the old version?".
they should release all versions for pc
then I would actually buy them

yeah id love to have reach and 4 for my pc.

Because 4 seems interesting and reach was just an amazing game in general.

But hey halo 1 and 2 are for pc, so thats cool. 2 is very good, although i have it for my xbox anyway.

I only have an original xbox
I have original for xbox and anniversary for pc, but I should get halo 2

Same thing.

In fact, I shoo away from hyper-realistic graphics in favor with toony, yet beautiful visuals. Like some scenes at Frozen.

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

This isn't particularly a rant on a single game, but I HATE how people nowadays are under the impression that linear=bad and open world=good. Sure, an open world might make the game last longer, but some games are NOT supposed to be open world. It's like all the people who love A Link Between Worlds and say Zelda games should all be like that from now on. Guys, there's nothing wrong with linear games. Just play the goddamn game and stop worrying if you have enough freedom for your taste.

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

I like to have a 3d world, side scrolling just isn't my style
but 3d doesn't mean open world, the games course/plot can still be linear

although side scrolling has its place, which is mostly mobile games nowadays

actually the only games that arent linear are complete free roaming open world games such as oblivion and kingdom of amular reckoning.

Almost all games literally require you to do this before you can do anything else, example is about every rpg in existence.

but the problem here is, is people want more open games, people like to explore, and in a lot of games, this isnt even allowed really.

So yeah.

However people consider linear games to be bad while open games are better, and vice versa.

Nothing you can do about it other then watch them bicker about it.

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

Assassins creed is becoming more open world, and skyrim is open world

well for the longest time assassins creed required you to do story segments before parts of the world were available, but ive only played 1 and 2 so i dont know much about the other games.

and skyrim is the sequel to oblivion so lol

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

yah, I guess the whole elder scrolls series is like that, but still with a main plot line to finish at your own leisure
as for AC, the third was sort-of open world, and the fourth most definitely is

well the main stories in elder scrolls are usually pretty bland and horrible, and almost no one does them until late in the game anyway due to side stuff being astoundingly more interesting.

Can't say the same for kingdom of amular reckoning, but yeah, Bethesda isnt impressive with main storylines.

CoD. It's alright in mild doses, but the community who play nothing but CoD are horrible. They think it's the only good game, and when I try to talk about Mario & Zelda at school, they say "Lol durrrrr Mario an Zelda r 4 Babies grow up kid yolo swag you have no swag." Luckily, there is a sizeable Pokémon fan base at my school.

can we all agree that bitching about cod is spam

please

Ok. No more talking about CoD.

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

I don't understand how suffering from their crappy fanbase and expressing it here exactly qualifies as spam, but yeah, it's gotten pretty old; of course there are good members who are reasonable.

I want to go back to hating Skylanders and other based video games again :P

yes actual bad games, not some game that gets attention.

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

I still have no idea why Skylanders gets a pretty fricking high Metacritic average (a 92!?)

Were the reviewers paid by Activision to give it good reviews?

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

well there are paid reviewers to do reviews any game to be good.

I think it's pretty dishonest. Aren't reviews supposed to help the consumer, not give them stretched truths?

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

well, it shows that activision cares an awful lot about it :P
and actually them game isn't half bad, its pretty fun(ny) its just the way they sell it that makes it evil

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

The only (major) problem I have with it is that it's exactly like the first two games in the series with very little changes (including snore-fest gameplay). Oh and the overpriced figures required to beat the game.

well the reviews are just opinions anyway, even if a person likes the game and reviews it, it will more than likely have a different outcome for a different person anyhow.

You shouldn't judge a game on a review. If there's a demo, download it and try it yourself.

Re: The official Rant and Rave thread

well demos are pretty faulty as well as they may not contain enough content to be liked or just have too many issues.
