What was wrong with the DS version?

Exactly this. The DS version had so much more areas and stars to collect, plus new characters that each had unique features. This is what people call Nostalgia Blindness, when somebody likes a game only because of its nostalgic value. So I'd say the 2 games are equal.

No.

The "3D Mario" games are as follows.

Super Mario 64
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario 3D Land
Super Mario 3D World

Mario kart was meant to be a joke :P (hense me striking it out )

I still voted for it anyway because none of those games come close to Mario Kart

I know what you mean. :)

Mate I think you need to calm your tits and not make poor assumptions. I didn't choose DS because I have never owned it, and therefore haven't played enough of it to make a judgement.

Though having said that, putting the red coins on the map felt incredibly cheap considering the point is to, you know, find them. That's about all I remember from when I briefly played it.

My favorite 3D Mario game is Mario Party 6.

well the whole red coin on map thing is actually pretty pointless in this game as most are easy to find, plus you have to talk to a npc to see them. Doesnt help the fact that the npc is usually placed when you are literally about to finish finding them all.

The challenge is then actually *reaching* the red coins.

Maybe he's talking about silver stars?

You know, there are people who prefer the simplicity of the original game over the complexity of the remake. For them, less is often more. It's the same reason why some people prefer Banjo Kazooie over Banjo Tooie. The latter has more content, but due to the compactness of the former, it may feel more wholesome and distilled. It's not always all about nostalgia.

I also want to say I am an avid fan of the Wario Land series, and as such, the portrayal of Wario in the DS remake leaves a sour taste with me. In theory it is awesome that he is a character in the game, but in practice he is basically unplayable. He can't jump for shit, he can't run, he swims like a sack of cloth, he is useless.

He was never like this in Wario Land. Wario's shtick, besides being greedy, is that he is a weird fat man who is amazingly acrobatic against all reason. He jumps and swims just as well as Mario (he's his counterpart after all) and he does insane things like light himself on fire to smash blocks, or crush himself under a huge weight so he fits through narrow passages. He is pretty much the epitome of crazy awesome.

The way he handles in Super Mario DS is... insulting. I get that Wario is fat and IRL fat people usually can't jump well, but that has never stopped Wario before. They don't make Mario's jump suck because he's pudgy. Imagine Mario in a game like Super Smash Bros. or something, and they'd make him unable to jump higher than half his height. It would be silly and people would rage. For the same reason I would have preferred if Wario wasn't playable, because for me bad Wario is worse than no Wario.

So I guess the gist of it is that less content is more enjoyable if you have a hard time agreeing with said content.

I think Wario is a fun character to use in Super Mario 64 DS, but he's mainly a lulz character.

I do wish he gets buffed, though.

Wario is awesome to play as in SM64DS. He's like the game's hard mode.

I use him as a joke, though.

were silver stars ever a big deal though?

never had too much trouble with them.

Shouldn't this be in The Marioverse?

super mario 64

also moved

I would say Galaxy 1. The orchestral score, the vastness of space, the scenery, the platforming, it just all came together in this really great package.
