Unpopular opinions about the Super Smash Bros. series

Awakening really gave the series the boost it needed.

- I don't find fighting Meta Knight in Brawl to be so bad; I just have a lot more fun fighting most other characters.
^To be honest, characters like Ike, Snake, Kirby, G&W, and Luigi give me more trouble... I swear Ike's Jab and his Forward Tilt need to get nerfed.

- Yoshi's recovery is actually one of the best in Brawl.
Many people think it sucks, but there's the option to modify your controls to disable Tap Jump and allow Yoshi to use his Egg Toss and THEN his Double Jump if necessary. Yoshi's recovery isn't really a flaw; his lack of KO power and his abnormal shield are the issues (especially the latter).
...Of course though being footstooled still sucks and it's dumb how Egg Roll leaves him helpless when used in mid-air. If the Egg Roll issue is gone, I'll be happy.

Not sure if this is popular or not, but wave-dashing is awful and I hope it stays gone

Unpopular opinion? Well, I REALLY liked the Subspace Emissary, and thus I'm really sad to see it's not going to get the same kind of attention on Wii U and 3DS.

I also don't have any problems with the inclusion of any characters. At the very worst, I'm "eh" about a the inclusion of a character I either don't like or wouldn't think would be in Super Smash Bros.

Subspace Emissary: good concept, terrible execution

and awesome cutscenes

That's the only reason you should play Subspace Emissary

Yeah, the cutscenes, like just the IDEA of these characters on an episode crossover story, officially done by Nintendo, is so awesome. Incidentally, I like these reveal videos for the newcomers for the 3DS and Wii U games. I get the feeling they're being made to make up for the lack of story mode cutscenes in the new games.

I like them too. I find them really quirky, which I love.

I liked the part where Wario got absorbed in the Subspace

Maybe because that's actually what they're making them for, hahahaha. Sakurai himself stated it.

MOD NOTICE

Since this is an unpopular opinion thread, more than likely someone is going to say something that you may or may not agree with. Should the latter occur, it would probably be in everyone's best interest for the offendee not to get all defensive about said opinion. It just puts everyone in a bad mood and nobody really wants that.

Thanks.

My personal favorite cutscene is the one where King Dedede turns Luigi into a trophy, then takes Ness from Wario.

Actually, any cutscene with King Dedede is my favorite! He's practically the hero of the story! :P

Where did he say that, exactly?

ditto to that

Never liked Fox or Falco. I choose characters that I like even if they supposedly suck.
WFT is the best newcomer hands down (though Rosalina is a close second).
Items, free-for-all battles and stage gimmicks make Smash Bros. fun, not shitty itemless 1v1 matches.
I like Coin Launcher more than Lottery, but I think Brawl's selection of Trophies pales in comparison to Melee's
I hate it when people compare SSB4 to Melee when the former isn't even out yet and the latter isn't the be-all and end-all for the series. Even though I use one for Brawl, I also think that the GameCube is in the past and people should stop complaining about the lack of a GCN controller for Wii U.

I think SSB4 will be the best installment yet.

However:

I don't want rosters to become even bigger and full of unnecessary characters.
Because of that, I want SSB4's roster size to be only slightly larger than Brawl's, as Brawl's roster didn't have really any characters who are unimportant to SSB. Just cut Wolf, R.O.B., Lucario and Snake and I'll be fine.

I like it too. The only thing I hate about it is the OP spikes

That's the only thing I heard about the shitty Subspace piece of crap. We're supposed to be in a whimsy fantastical world of Nintendo, but my god, the colors are dull, the plot-hole filled story is way too dark, and everyone is so awkwardly silent.

By the way, I think Smashville and Final Destination are dull stages, and that Brawl theme is dumb and overused. I also find all Pokemon except for Jigglypuff to be dumb.
