Re: The Anser thread.

Oh good, I'm really glad somebody made a Thread like this. And it makes sense that you would make it Sweeteevee, since you are more or less going through the same thing as Anser.

I really want to reiterate that I admire Anser for what he is doing and I think he's really noble because of it. I would like to say that I would do the same thing in his situation, but I really can't. I just wouldn't have the courage.

Re: The Anser thread.

He has been away for over 24 hours...

Re: The Anser thread.

I sincerely hope he makes it through this, his 24 hour absence from here has really got me worried though.

It's stupid that these protests are getting barely any attention from the rest of the world.

Re: The Anser thread.

I'm entirely supportive of him and I sent a PM to him wishing him good luck

Guys, do something. I haven't heard about what's going on with Anser until very recently, and it's unfair for the oppressed Venezuelans that I didn't know about this.

Write a letter to your senator. which is what I'm doing very soon.

Sign petitions, do something, ANYTHING that can change it so people at Venezuela get the help they need.

What do you think your Senator will do? levy some sanctions against Venezuela.

You know, I sort of agree with Shoey. Oddly enough, I trust the US government the least for doing things done right.
......
Nah the government in the United States is better then most governments especially in the third and second world.
Also what do you expect them to do declare war on Venezuela?

If you guys would check the news, you'd see that the US is already doing what they can without getting themselves actively involved. If the US doesn't do anything, we'll get chastised for not using our money and power to make a difference; if we do get involved, we'll get chastised for abusing our money and power to sway international crisis events. Relations are already terrible between the US and Venezuela/Cuba so, it sounds selfish, but this is something we really don't need to stick our nose into and try and shape it. John Kerry has made statements condemning what the Venezuelan government is doing and unless things get dramatically worse I can't see the US doing anything more than maybe giving some more statements.

What we can do is just be here and support the Opposition, if one so chooses to agree with their point of view. We can give Anser (and FE) words of support and encouragement and be here when/if he needs us.

Is it a bad thing that I lost some sleep last night because of some users engaged in this?

Well guys, I don't know if you have heard it on the news, but Venezuela is going through a very difficult situation.

Let me sum it up for you: the government is stealing all the money and we don't have food. We can't find flour, butter, oil, milk, eggs, meat, chicken, hell, not even PAPER (toilet paper too). Hundreds of newspapers have gone out of circulation because they don't have paper. The insecurity rate is insanely high, and we are the most dangerous country in Latin America. Our economy is the worst in the whole continent and fifth in the entire planet. Many media communicators have been shut down because the government doesn't want the world to know what's going on here and they don't want us to spread any news within the country. We're on a dictatorship right now.

People are tired of this. Nicolás Maduro, our illegitimate president, who stole the elections last April, is the one to be blamed for all of this. Several riots have occurred since yesterday. Many pacific manifestations have been organized by the students of the country (I am part of that group). It's all peace until the government sends the military to harm us and kill us. Three students died yesterday in Caracas (the capital of the city). People are angry, sad, frustrated, and willing to do whatever it takes to end this situation because we don't want to live like this anymore.

I am going today, once again, to manifestate against the government. Hopefully I will be back, but since people are actually dying out there, I don't know if I'll come back home today. Just in case I don't post anymore, well, you know what happened. Please stay tuned and help us spread the news across the world, since the government is not letting us do it. I'll say this just in case: it's been a pleasure to share this space with you, it was very fun and I'm glad I got to meet such great people. I hope you all have success in your lives. Take care! Hopefully I'll get to live today and the following days of protests and keep spending some time here with you.

SOS VENEZUELA!!

Okay, the political situation in Venezuela is flat out terrible.

Best of luck Anser, I fully support you and the opposition.

Well it'd be understandable.

But i usually pray before going to sleep and pray for those people in dire situations, so it makes me rest easier.

Venezuela, along with Thailand and Ukraine, have made CNN.com's front page today. So the media is paying more attention now.

The fact that Venezuelan government supporters apparently took some of CNN's cameras at gunpoint kinda makes them more sympathetic to the non-Chavistas.

Good.

I wouldn't like U.S. intervention though. As I stated, anti-U.S. sentiment and oil ties, plus, U.S. wouldn't repeat their action as they did with the Middle-East. Despite this, I think they helped Egypt and other protestors at Saudi-Arabia? I think?

Good for them. About time the media started paying attention.

A celebrity will do something stupid and we'll stop paying attention
