General Discussion

I'm not trying to discuss it, I'm just making a friendly reminder

They're gonna have it settled. I'd wait at least one week before you have to remind them.

pfft I'm just impatient

Isn't there any template that can be used instead of {{construction}} in case of the article being not under construction. I mean, something like {{Missing information}}, found on Wikipedia (I'm not copying Wikipedia).

I'm bringing this, because the construction template is put wherever the article is missing any type of information, whether it is already being worked on or not. Some article has been tagged with it since years, and no input has been entered.

So in short, the construction template is put, however if no input was found on the page in few days (maximum a week). The template should be replaced by {{Missing information}} or {{MoreImages}} depending on the issue.

Draft for the proposed template: User:Dashbot/Sandbox

I don't think there should be a timeframe on when construction changes. I mean me and LGM put a construction tag on Luigi's Mansion, the only reason I'm not touching it that much is because school work takes priority.

Template:Rewrite-expand can also be used for pages that are missing info. Rather than putting a target completion date, for this template, you go the opposite way and put the date that the template's added so that we know how long the article's been flagged.

Rewrite-expand is rather general, A much more specific template was in my mind.

I also didn't keen on putting the completion tag, I didn't care either way, but the date of the template addition is very good, actually.

General is good: that means it can be widely used, instead of only for very specific circumstances. If there are specific issues, Template:Rewrite can be customized to list said reasons (in fact, it's ideal if it does list the issues).

I don't know, some articles may just need more information without need to rewrite. Otherwise, the {{rewrite-expand}} could have an additional variable for the specific subject.

Usually adding information requires integrating it and thus, rewriting some parts of the existing page - unless you're just shoving entire, self-contained sections in here and there, but if that's the case, Template:Section-expand can just be used to flag said underdeveloped chunks.

Mucking about with {{rewrite-expand}} to make it variable isn't a good idea: simpler is better, and besides, I really doubt anyone gets that hung up about the "rewrite" half in the very unlikely case that a page is perfect and amazing except for the giant gaps in its coverage that need expanding...

Um, no, that hasn't been the norm. Only a select few people add the construction template in place of the rewrite template. In my case, I've tagged some articles for construction in the past, because I was actually working on it but eventually forgot all about it. When I stumble across them again, I just replace them with a rewrite template.

Sleep

Any recommendation before I go overhaul this thing?

take some drugs. it'll help you

I'd do it immediately...if it weren't for that names in other languages section which is vague on what course they're exactly describing. Who knows, it could be a different name???

So, since this discussion has kinda stalled out, I want to ask for some opinions here. Does Shadow Mario really warrant its own page? In my opinion, it hasn't done enough to distinguish itself as a separate character.

Off-topic: that "quote" at the top is awful.

My argument for Shadow Mario is the same for Mr. Pipe.

What makes Mr. Pipe different from other forms is that it's a well-established alias in the game, and the true identity doesn't get revealed until the conclusion of the game, so Mr. Pipe was clearly intended for players to believe he is separate from Mario. Unlike Casanova Koopa or Nurse Toadstool, which were clearly intended to be identified as Luigi and Peach, Mr. Pipe was clearly intended to be taken as a separate character until the end of the game for the shock value.

Replace Mr. Pipe with Shadow Mario....they're both very similar scenarios.

Besides, Shadow Mario was a separate playable character in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.

Shadow Mario still gets revealed relatively early in the game though, the midpoint at the latest.(My memory is a bit foggy, I've been meaning to replay SMS for the longest time now.)

Still, Shadow Mario is a separate alias from Bowser Jr. The game manual even says nothing about it because he was intended to be his own character until the spoiler alert. So I say he still deserves his own article.

He's also a different, distinct form of Bowser Jr. regardless.
