Goku and Shrek have been in their own games, but due to legal rights, I highly doubt their presence.

Maybe you should change to title to Characters that won't be playable?

Because it's easy to say what characters will not be in at all (That'd be non-video game characters & characters not owned by Nintendo that don't have a big history with Nintendo or were never on a Nintendo console). But the Nintendo characters could appear in some form whether that's an assist trophy, stage hazard, trophy, etc.

Though I think the fact you said "too big" (Because seriously I'm not even that sure Ridley is in the game and I'M tired of that argument) for Ridley either makes you either a troll or someone who doesn't understand that there is ability for characters to be scaled up or down if their normal selves are too huge or too small (Olimar) to get in the game yet.

If Ridley is in the game and is a top tier character, I'll definitely consider maining him.

However, if Marth is still top tier, he'll probably remain my go to guy.
 
Seeing aside the obvious flame bait and the two idiotic but surprisingly common suggestions...

How is Ghirahim "too obscure"? He was one of the main antagonists in the last major Zelda game! Vaati feels more obscure then him, and Vaati was in three times as many games as Ghirahim!

...As to who I think won't be playable... I don't think any other Sonic characters will be playable; Shadow, Knuckles, Tails, what have you. I think they're just going to stick with Sonic and that will be that. After all, you don't want too many third party characters to overshadow the Nintendo characters that this series is supposed to be about.
 
Speaking realistically, yeah, they probably won't add any Sonic characters. But I'd still like to hope one day I'll be able to play as Knuckles in a Smash Bros game.

I would probably main him if he was playable, too! It's just that he seems to big to fit IMO.

Although I've seen some people insist that it just won't work, because he'd look awkward or something. Well, that's one way of putting it, but that's only when pressed further when being disproven when it comes to the above argument.
