Other Marvel Movies(Non-MCU)

it was pretty good, kind of expected it but most of the other mutants like blink were just there to show off the fancy sfx and die.

but the best thing about this movie is that X3 no longer exists. how many different strykers do they need though
 
alright kids its time for the long-awaited SM347review! i made this after watching the movie 3 times

holy shit was this movie great. easily the best x-men movie, best movie of 2014 and arguably the best superhero film ever. the only thing i disliked was how Logan, not Kitty, was sent back in time like in the comics. The movie was a well blend of humor, suspense, action, and grimness. i give it 13/13.

Rob Liefeld has possibly dropped a bombshell on everyone today. He confirmed that Marvel is indeed trying to shut out Fox with the properties that it owns. This "shut out" was rumored the other day with reports that Marvel will be canceling all Fantastic Four books and the lack of FF, and any X-men on Marvels 75th anniversary cover. Its simply buisness, and that is why we do not see X-men toys on shelves, but we see Cap and Spidey toys.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past will match If not exceed The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s domestic box office, meaning lots of eyeballs, but there are no toy tie-ins. The Fox shut out is real. It’s not money that matters in this strategy, it’s the hearts and minds of kids/toy buyers, not-too-subtly communicating what’s “important.” Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 toys everywhere, X-Men – zippo. No promotions from toy aisles. Starve those properties. Makes X-Men [box office] comeback impressive! No emotion in these facts/reporting, it’s just numbers and business. But the messages are clear. X-Men: Days of Future Past toys would get in the way of upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy onslaught of toys. He also says that Sony and Marvel are thinking of putting Spidey in Avengers 3 due to TASM2s lackluster box office results/Sonys financial problems. I've met Liefeld, and read his comments when it comes to movies. He may be a terrible artist, and jerk at times but he does have an insight into the comic movie industry. In all honesty if you look at this from a strictly buisness perspective it makes total sense. Its like Marvel is playing the Game of Thrones. (Marciel)

It basically says that Rob Liefeld, infamous comic illustrator and "writer", is trying to force Fox into a corner with X-Men and the Fantastic Four, refusing to make comic book or merchandise tie-ins for the movies they'll make. Sony, on the other hand, seems desperate, given how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 under-performed and Sony's in quite a bit of financial trouble as it is, and might be in talks with Marvel to have Spider-Man show up in the third Avengers movie.

IMO, I liked X-Men: Days of Future Past so for the moment I'm okay if the rights don't revert back to Marvel, though the new Fantastic Four movie looks like it's going to suck big-time. And Spider-Man... yeesh...
 
Still can't believe that Dark Knight writer called She-Hulk a pornstar. Oh the feminists that likely came after the poor chump.

I don't know how you could tie those two universes in with each other. It just raises a ton of questions. Where the hell was Spider-Man when the Chitauri were invading New York, his home town? Why has not been informed about the Avengers initiative? Why did S.H.I.E.L.D. not get involved with all the shit going down in the Spider-Man movies? I don't think Liefeld's idea of Spider-Man in the Avengers 3 will come to fruition. Sony has clear plans for their cinematic universe. They have two sequels planned along with movies for Venom and the Sinister Six.

Spider-Man also was close to making 700 million dollars. How is that underperforming?

Because with all the marketing they put into this movie, in addition to all kinds of other expenses when it came to making the movie, they'd need at least $800 million to start breaking even. And keep in mind, Sony only makes money through movie ticket and DVD sales, any tie-in merchandise goes directly to Marvel/Disney.
 
Figures. I saw marketing for the film everywhere. I never actually went to go see it and decided to save my money for other things.

Would Sony just have Spider-Man guest star or would they sell him back to Marvel? Part of me doubts it because the name is just too profitable to get rid of. Since superhero movies are all the rage they could make another with a much more modest marketing budget. The name alone guarantees ticket sales.
 
Someone pointed out that they wouldn't want to rights to divert back to Marvel, because they'd totally sell the Hell out of Spider-Man, at the expense of other Marvel properties that could use some love. Same goes for X-Men and the Fantastic Four. I can kind of see their point in that, not to mention, yeah, how exactly is Spider-Man supposed to tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given all that's happened in both TASM movies and the MCU...

From the sounds of it, Sony clearly doesn't want to give up Spider-Man, but they know that the MCU movies are doing well, so trying to tie them together will maybe make people want to see Spider-Man more?

I find this doubtful, given that QuickSilver shows up in both X-Men: Days of Future Past and
the mid-credits stinger for Captain America: The Winter Soldier
and will appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and they're both played by different actors.

Who cares? Spiderman in Avengers would be awesome. No need to ask questions about it.

And yeah, a guest appearance would seem more likely to me.

Alright, perhaps I worded that poorly.

What I'm saying is that if your end goal is strong enough, you can bend the continuity to serve a cool goal. Spiderman in Avengers would be cool. Therefore, they should be willing to work him in somehow with a creative solution to work out the continuity problems.

As I like to say, most continuity problems can be solved with a bit of creativity.
 
The problem with that idea is that New York seems completely rebuilt in ASM. The amount of damage caused in The Avengers would take a long time to repair.

Yea. The city seemed to be completely great after Iron Man.
