Sticker Star was indeed the worst game in the series, but Super Paper Mario is in no way the best either. Sure, it is a good game, but the title for the best game in the series goes definitely to Thousand-Year Door.

absolutely nothing. But the league of SPM fanboys is not amused.

Honestly, the TTYD fans are worse than SPM fanboys since they won't even see light that some aspects of SPM were actually better, and constantly point out the changed battling system and 2-D vs. 3-D gimmick in this game.

I definitely agree that TTYD had the best gameplay and controls of the series. SPM is just easily the better one in terms of dialogue, character development, and plot.

So depending on what perspective you're going with, TTYD is better or SPM is better, which is why I personally like to think that TTYD = SPM. Now, if they had a PM game where it had the gameplay of TTYD and the plot/dialogue of SPM, it would trump both of said games above.

And let's not forget about PM64 with this. I definitely feel that it was good, but TTYD basically fixed everything that felt limited or was a shortcoming with this game. But I find this game to be the most positive of the three, since TTYD you spent it in this area of thieves, crooks, etc. and SPM you spent the entire game with a ticking clock in the sky waiting to destroy everything. Not saying that not positive is bad, but I did like the feel that PM64 gave, and made it very enjoyable and rather nostalgic. Sometimes the game gets unnoticed in light of the other two, so I wanted to bring that up. And I left out Sticker Star because I'm not willing to accept it in this trio of what was a big part of my childhood.

Sorry about the spiel. I've been on a Paper Mario run-through of 100% all three Paper Mario's and so they're very fresh in my mind. :P

Anyways, back to the E3 2014 discussion, it's only a little over 4 1/2 days! I swear, if I don't wake up in time, I am going to be so mad at myself, so I'm setting like 10 alarms to make sure I'm up. I may be up earlier anyways, so we'll see.

Well, I did say that Super Paper Mario is a great game, and about it being the one with the best dialogue and character development, I concur. It gave me lots and lots of laughs, more than any other game so far. However, as a game, I feel TTYD was deeper, the story was darker, and there were many more things to do. It was also more complex, as the battle system required to have several strategies in order to play it well, and that's something I really liked.

One of my favorite things about TTYD is its soundtrack. SPM had a nice soundtrack, but TTYD's is just better.

About Paper Mario 64, I have to say that I owe at least 70% of my English skills to that game. It marked such a huge part of my childhood. My best friend, who is like my brother from other mother, became my friend because we were classmates and we got the game basically at the same time, and we both became addicted to it. You're definitely right when you say it has a nostalgic feel to it. I will always cherish it and it will always be my favorite Nintendo 64 game.

By the way, can we please take a moment to appreciate this?

I also went through a Paper Mario run-through recently :) All three games are great, but TTYD is my favorite. And I also refuse to acknowledge Sticker Star as part of this magnificent saga.

I disagree. I don't think that TTYD was deeper. The story was darker, but darker doesn't mean that it's better. And I found that the sidequests were a bit more longer in SPM rather than being plentiful with TTYD.

As for the soundtrack, I think that TTYD had a lot of great songs and an overall good selection to choose from, but I felt that SPM had a little bit of a weaker overall selection, but more memorable and moving song selections.

I mean, Champion of Destruction, Bounding Through Time, The Ultimate Show...

Also, forgot to add to my other post, but SPM had a lot of background stuff to it. Like, Chapter 7 with basically The Underworld and Heaven allusions? Many allusions to both Greek and Roman Mythology as well as Dante's Divine Comedy? And not to mention the cultural backgrounds in Chapter 6 and...

OMG, I just realized...in TTYD Scarlett died from an illness, and I think it was a fever. Scarlet Fever. *Childhood blows up*

A leak that seems legit for once. Nobody has 'proven' it wrong yet as far as I can tell.

Spoilered it just in case somebody doesn't want leaks and would rather wait until the event in a few days.

mario maker looks like a revival of the picross series
the other 3 stations look like they probably have smash

I actually love Super Paper Mario, so don't know what you're saying about "TTYD fans".

And PM64 has never been able to hook me yet. I'm at the third world - and that was over a year ago.

TBH, out of the first three Paper Mario Games, TTYD was the one that had the least "feels"-factor to me.

For some reason I am insanely nostalgia'd and biased about PM64 even though I've never played it in my chilhood.

TTYD mightve been better but it just doesnt mean that much to me.

And SPM is cool for alone the fact that the real main villain is an insane clown who wants to destroy the world sounds familiar?

My brain instantly jumped to the idea of a level editor.

None of the games really had this 'feels' effect on me. I liked TTYD for the gameplay and style, not the plot. I didn't care for the plot in super paper Mario, which is probably why I didn't enjoy it as much as others since I just seriously didn't give a shit about count bleck and timpi's backstory or any of the characters sad tales. The game was fun though.

That was why I was not bothered by the lack of a decent plot in Sticker Star or the no bowser speech problem. It didn't really affect me, instead I just enjoyed the sticker mechanic and when I finished it I thought it was better than 64 and SPM.

Probably to add on to that I didn't think the plot or the dialogue in SPM was anything better than TTYD, maybe on par at a few points.

I was sure that was what it is.

How long did you take making those?

TTYD was my favourite Paper Mario as well, simply because of how deep it was. However, SPM wins in story and characters. PM64 was a nice little RPG whose lighter feel provides a fresh break from the darkness of TTYD and SPM.

I also refuse to acknowledge SS as part of the great trilogy.

I remember claiming that Gabe Newell was going to show up out of nowhere during last year's E3. I think I'll do it again this year because it was pretty fun.

If Gabe ever announces Half-Life 3, he'll probably just go on stage, take a seat, stare at the audience, and do absolutely nothing, and everybody knows what's up.

Wasn't that already announced?

kinda, but it's basically just everyone assuming it's going to happen anyways (there is a chance of at least 90%)

why would they have three smash bros stations and then one "mario maker"

idk it looks legit but they could have easily photoshopped it onto an existing booth so i'm gonna take it with a grain of salt

I'd like it to be real, it seems a really interesting idea, but I'd be okay with it being faked as I'm not really the most creative person in that area.

Yes, I posted an image I happened to see on reddit that might have been a leak. We must get the intervention team in here because these people seriously care about this. The discussion about this leak here has been absolutely outrageous.
