Toadnette as a new character is true for their games.
 
Considering that NdCube is composed of the same people at Hudson, and that they're continuing the Mario Party series instead of starting a new one, I doubt that excuse would work.

On the characters section, there is two more slots left (one of them is Spike and one is Toadette).
 
How do you unlock Spike? Oh and why is that cyan princess here she wasn't in either Wii Mario Party game, she doesn't deserve a spot at all, hopefully Birdo returns in the next game.

I think if a character popular enough for Nintendo to promote them so much they even get a spot in Smash Bros as a newcomer with a unique moveset. Then I think you can expect Rosalina to appear in pretty much every new Spin-Off Mario game after which. When she was confirmed for Smash, that was the big indication we'd be seeing quite a bit of Playable Rosalina.

She made in Smash. Oh, and by your logic, Spike wasn't in any Wii Mario Party game, he doesn't deserve a spot.

AFAIK Diddy was never playable, so I dunno why yall are saying RIP for him.

IDGAF about the other cut characters, though I would take Dry Bones over Spike.
 
Leave it to ND Cube to introduce new random crap characters only to pull them in the next game.

Were there ANY newcomers in Mario Party 9 or Island Tour that made it past their debut game?

They have the same amount of playable characters as a game TWO home console generations ago (Gamecube).
