Next Paper Mario game (Likely on Wii U)

>takes opinions of 2-3 people in one topic as the general consensus

And in my time on the Internet I've seen more praise for SPM's story than hate. Even from some SPM haters.

I'm the opposite of that though. I like the game, hate the storyline.

I don't see how SPM's story doesn't fit with the Mario series when there were games like Partners in Time and The Thousand Year Door before it, which both had "darker" stories compared to the Mario series. Are the stories cliche? Yes, but what story nowadays doesn't have cliches. Also, SPM is the best in the series.

Those games merely have moments, SPM the entire game is based around annoying melodramatic crap that takes itself too seriously.

And again the problem isn't that its just cliched. Its that it picks really tired rpg scenarios (minus certain individual chapters) and doesn't even put its own ''mario-like'' spin on them.

It really depends on where you look, actually.

I think the people who don't like the story have a valid reason to dislike it. On the other hand, Mario doesn't get a lot of those kinds of stories, so I'd understand why some people would like it.

Besides the Shroobs in Partners in Time can be pretty goofy.

Paper Mario: The Palette of Wonders
A Paper Mario game which is like Scribblenauts

You use drawn objects to attack
and you can make objects

Like Scribblenuats Unlimited

It still has everything that made the series great- colorful original characters, a well-thought-out plot, tons of side content, etc

And the gameplay is still decent. Lumping it with Sticker Star is something that I'll never understand.

Meh, I don't want them to try anything new for a while, the next one should be a return to the general formula of the first three. (Yes I include SPM in there because what it has in common with the other two is greater than what is different)

FTG, I noticed the background in the mirror of your sig is SPM style.

Personally, I don't care what formula they go back to, I just want it to have an actual story this time. And partners.

Oh I forgot we were talking about Sticker Star

At least sticker star doesn't try to pretend its crap plot is worth caring about.

It's an RPG so we should care about the plot.

And I'd hardly consider SPM's plot crap.

And considering how ignorant of the genre you are that doesn't surprise me.

oh, you mean that nonexistent plot and nonhelpful i-shouldn't-even-call-a-partner that made everyone hate the game?

TBH I've seen more positivity to SPM than SS

I never said what SS had was good, its just not as obnoxious about its crap story and characters.

SPM tries to pretend its dime a dozen generic jrpg plot and characters are actually worth giving a shit about thus making it all the more annoying to deal with.

It's way more obnoxious to me.

I actually liked the plot of it. Personally, it's the best Mario RPG (my favourite RPG is Awakening).
It is my opinion though, and that is your opinion, so I personally think we shouldn't bash each other, but that's just me.

Don't worry. I don't lump them together.

Sticker Star is much higher on my list.

I got more enjoyment from the one playthrough of Sticker Star than my four of SPM. Stickers might have been a dumb gimmick, but it wasn't completely boring and tedious, unlike "memorize the long-ass pattern for three invisible blocks" or whatever that shit even was. And say what you will about Sticker Star, but at least it got the "Paper" part right. There was nothing in SPM that reminded me that it was paper. It could have just been called "Mario Meets the Fanfiction.net OCs" because if you're not gonna put paper in Paper Mario, don't bother leaving it in the fucking title.

Also, the characters are butt-ugly, except for Count Bleck who I admit looks kinda cool. But what the hell happened to the Merlon family?

I think this Paper Mario will be about a time machine.

I am hoping more Mario characters such as Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi will appear in the Paper Mario games.
