They could also have him whack enemies with a wrench, doesn't mean its a particularly good idea.
What game did that come from?

How come everytime it comes to a spin-off game you have to always request RPG things when you know Nintendo doesn't budge for anything related to them? I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't request it but it goes far beyond requesting. It turns into long-winded complaining, arguing, and countless request threads of the same thing.

There's no characters from the main series you like?

I'm tempted to nitpick that and say that Luigi doesn't really use thunder

Luigi's more air-based than his brother, and he's sometimes he's displayed as being faster. Electricity fits him very well.

I think she's talking about thunder thunder. You know, the sound.

Nothing, but even it was, I wouldn't be asking for it to be included just because it happened that one time.

It's not a matter of who I like. I like almost every main character (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, and the spinoff ones like Wario, Waluigi, etc) and there are even some RPG characters I don't care for (Kersti, the Cragnons other than Flint and crew) It's more a matter of representation. The RPGs have a large and loyal fan following but aren't as well known to those who haven't played them. Why? Because they never get represented where they potentially could. Even the smallest details that could serve to reference the RPGs get shafted in favor of made-up crap all the time.

You may have been thinking of the Super Mario 3D World opening. However, Luigi has the hammer while Mario has the wrench.

What made up crap? Has it ever occured to you that maybe Nintendo doesn't personally own those characters so they avoid putting them in things so that down the line they won't have to worry about not being able to rerelease things because theres characters they don't have rights to is in the game? You know, like Geno, Mallow, and the Axem Rangers?

Dr Mario

Wrecking Crew

Mario vs Donkey Kong

Warioware

Wario Land

Super Mario Land

Mario Party

All get shafted, but the fanbase doesn't complain. I have no sympathy for you.

Super Mario RPG's original characters are properties of Square. However, the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series and both owned by Nintendo.

That doesn't mean the characters are though. Also Mario had a hammer at the end of that pipe fix sequence.

Does Alphadream get any sort of say, though? Or are they just a subordinate second-party company?

Intelligent Systems is first-party, so yeah.

Super Mario RPG not getting referenced (while sad) is understandable because of Square Enix's ownership over the characters. The other RPGs however are developed by Nintendo first/second parties (I think) and even if they weren't, Waluigi was created by Camelot and appears in almost all the spinoffs. Even Super Mario RPG was rereleased on the Wii VC though, so I don't see how that is an argument.

I never said those shouldn't get referenced. In fact I'd welcome references to those too, although Daisy appearing in stuff technically represents Super Mario Land.

You'd probably see the SMK treatment of the Super Paper Mario characters as an improvement. They all look less blocky and more Mario-like.

I'd hesitate to recommend that issue though, there is a pretty gruesome scene involving Francis in it.

Waluigi is obviously Nintendo's since they literally had the idea and told camelot to make it an reality.

Well, you can't anyway, since it's Japan-exclusive.

Art style shouldn't concern you as much as how it's the only long-running nongame Mario medium, spanning over 40 volumes and still going. Art style is cutsey, weird, and on crack, but the adaptions of the characters are spot on to the games, which is arguably a rarity for nongame Mario media.

The morbidly curious self is interested. I'm exposed to Yoshi's bleeding face and Burt the Bashful's uncensored manhood area, so bring it on.

Derail.

Well I'm sure there are english translations somewhere.

But some character designs are just really off putting, most notably Bowser.
