Things in the Mario series that made you upset/disappointed

Luigi being the "chosen" wielder of the Chaos Heart in Super Paper Mario and ultimately ending up as the final boss. That just bothered me when I first played through the game, because I loved Bleck so much and wasn't too fond of the idea of having Luigi as the final boss

what astounds me as you dont even get to play as luigi for very long, which is a shame.

Yea I just realized that a couple of days ago; you find him so late in the game, so his role on the hero side of things was almost nothing

The fact that most villains besides Bowser and his minions either get killed off in their debut game, killed off eventually, or just vanish off the face of the earth. The worst case is Antasma, where he even gets the main villain role usurped in his own game.

Yeah, poor Antasma his only appearance is messed up and he is not likely to comeback.

My poor Yoshi's long absence :’(

↑the disc is scratched again...I need a hobby.

Is everyone still angry at the blue and yellow toads?

His own game? Buddy it is not his game, its Mario and Luigi's.

I meant his debut game. When a game introduces a character, especially a major villain, it's best to not shove them aside in their own debut game in favor of a villain who already appears and is glorified in everything else under the sun.

Except that happens plenty of times in other works of fiction and as long as its well done, it doesn't matter.

I've been meaning to ask you this.

Is it just a coincidence that all the characters you like are obscure or one-shots?
Because I don't think it is.

I started liking Mario RPG characters when I played Superstar Saga, Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario. Because they just seemed really special, I liked the whole idea of a Mario adventure with an actual plot to it, and I grew attached to those characters because of their roles in the plot. I never became attached to the main series characters in the same way because they were used so often in adventures that were lacking in plot/didn't get all that much personality in their debut game.

Basically it's how the character is handled in their debut that makes me like them. After a while I started just liking most RPG characters in general because of their integration into good plots. Especially the villains. I just saw the potential in Antasma and was saddened that they didn't give him the screentime and development he could've gotten.

As long as they stand for something with a deep or engaging plot that is relevant to their debut game, that's what makes me like the characters, I dislike that they are never chosen to rep anything in Mario Kart or the like, because I want to play as a character that represents the part of the series I like the best.

argument in 3 2 1
Oh, would you look at that, I was right.

Hey guys, since none of you are planning on changing your opinion, why don't you stop wasting your breath and just avoid arguing? Leave FTG alone for liking them, and leave McMadness alone for disliking them. Simple as that.

I enjoy it so no.

I'm pretty sure plently of us don't. It's getting annoying to listen to you two bicker about, I'll be honest. I think you should both stay out of each others buisness.

Not really my problem, unless it actually becomes disruptive, which it hasn't, then I shall continue to do so.

*sigh* Whatever, I don't even know why I'm here in the first place, I should be studying the US Oil Spill

I concur

i think 1-ups are far too common in many of the recent games, especially nsmb2 and sm3dl.

it cheapens death, and rewards trial-and-error more than it should.

i think the solution is to get rid of lives and 1-ups altogether

Agreed; maybe the 1-UPs could be reworked into a new powerup.
Once we remove the lives system, the coins have to serve another purpose. The 1-up maybe an translate to more coins? Or, it can serve as a checkpoint, but Mario (and platformers in general) can benefit if every Warp Pipe/Door/etc. is essentially a checkpoint. Hm...

coins can be used to buy stuff or something
