This is what Mario Kart will devolve into if the Power-Up clones are separate characters and not costume changes.

Admittedly, I'd use more characters than the amount I currently use in Mario Kart 8.

2. I'm fine with Baby characters being separate characters, because their minds and bodies are technically less matured. But the reason I don't like metal characters (and now Tanooki and Cat characters) is the fact that they're just a character with a power-up. Stats-schmats. I'm interested in the actual character of a character. (not redundant)

Except Metal Mario has pretty much been his own character since Super Smash Bros.
