post any random Mario thought on your mind

There's something about Super Mario Odyssey that bugs me, and that's how they're going to deal with both Pauline and Peach in one game. If they were both made to be Mario's love interests, doesn't it seem a bit weird that they both appear in one game? Are they just going to pretend that those relationships don't exist, or one does and the other doesn't? Or both? Jump up, Super Star doesn't really do breaking the relationship any favours (i.e. "You know that you're my Super Star, No one else can take me this far", "I'll be your 1-Up Girl"), but it does seem to promote both existing at once, or it as an on-off thing ("Every journey starts a new romance"), and the fact that Mario is still rescuing Peach, particularly from marriage to Bowser, doesn't seem to show nothing's happening there. What on Earth in the Mushroom Kingdom in New Donk City in the Marioverse is going on? They don't seem to be pretending it's nothing, but I don't think they can fully isolate the two in the game. So how are they going to do it? It just seems too weird to me.

Hey, Mario can be a chick magnet in other games anyway, so it's totally fine.

Maybe Mario and Pauline broke off their relationship but are still on friendly terms. Not every break up ends messily and with both parties hating each other.

Or maybe Mario is rescuing Peach because she's in danger and has no romantic motivation to do so.

I think they might be retconning Pauline's previous relationship and just making her a platonic friend of Mario's, like Rosalina.

people always talk about how often bowser kidnaps peach, but nobody ever talks about the kidnappings that don't happen

how reliable are toads at stopping a koopa attack?

We don't see it ever get prevented so I still say Toads are as reliable as wet paper bags at stopping a Bowser attack.

Considering that their strategy for protecting Peach when she is being attacked right in front of them is "cowering and running away", I'm going to say that they're not particularly reliable.

I know all too well what that is like.

Toads make decent caretakers and stuff like that but in terms of actual guards? Worthless.

I think you guys are t giving Toads enough credit, they do a great job spat stopping Bowser from hurting Peach.

Just look at Smash, where she uses them as meat shields. Peach knows what to do with them.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Toads' reactions):
Watch as suspicious cake arrives.
Stand and watch as Koopalings and Bowser Jr. jump out of the cake, kidnap Peach and fly away in an airship, and then watch Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad chase after them.
Finally react, by bringing along a cannon and launching Princess Peach's birthday presents randomly into the air.

Wow Toads, that is so helpful and will totally stop Bowser carrying out his plan.

Super Mario-Kun volume 22 is probably the most disgusting Mario media I've looked at. It's disgusting, even for Super Mario-Kun standards. Super Mario-Kun usually does bodily humor occasionally, but I think volume 22 has a lot of it.

  • Page 12 has a Hammer Bros., perched on a cloud and pooping out projectiles
  • Page 21 has Bowser surprise farting
  • Page 42 Mario, before getting hit in the head by a spear, slides his head and his head goes through his crotch. I think this gag is repeated in the manga, but I'll note that anyway.
  • Chapter 6 is probably the worst thing here. Mario, Wario, Luigi, and Yoshi are on a tightrope, in that order. Mario sprays something on Wario's eyes, I don't know. After this, I think Mario accidentally farts and Wario falls off. Later on, Luigi sees Mario pokes Mario's butt and Mario is seen straining. Mario then takes a big dump on top of Luigi and Luigi falls off. Mario starts crying afterward so I also think it's accidental. Then, I think some giant slime monster shoots cannonballs at Yoshi. Yoshi eats them all and is filled up. Mario fights this slime monster, but how he defeats the monster is by jumping on Yoshi and having a lot of stuff spew out of Yoshi's rear end into the monster's face.
  • Page 85; Mario is involved in a crane game and Bowser holds Luigi and Wario hostage as toys in there and Yoshi controls Mario. At page 85, Mario is lowered into Wario's face and kisses him lip-by-lip. Wario has heart eyes and Mario has complete disgust.
  • In page 99, there is Wario (transformed into a machine) bending over and opening a hatch and letting loose poop., cannonballs coming from his nose, and I think farting and afterward, there is a panel that's extremely low-res, you can see individual pixels. IDK if that's censorship or not.
  • In page 115-117, a friendly Bob-omb jabs a pump into Bowser's rear end and pumps Bowser until Bowser explodes, akin to that Mario Party minigame of blowing up Bowser balloons.
  • In page 124, Mario pisses on tied-up Bob-ombs. When characters piss in the manga, they never take their pants down, so I guess thank goodness for that?
  • In page 132, Yoshi takes a big dump on Spinies after the other Yoshis fight the Spinies.
  • Farting Boo at page 149.

Though there are some better stuff in there like Mario teaming up with Wario and Wario slams onto Mario to transform him into Bouncy Mario. Mario even imitates the Bouncy Wario artwork from Wario Land II. I also like how there is a narrative spun into some of the minigames, like the minigame where you fish for coins. In that one, the characters pull up a giant Cheep Cheep who essentially eats everyone.

Oh and I guess I'll add that in volume 37, Francis eats Mario. Bowser, who I think can control Mario by picking up a Wii Remote, shakes the Wii Remote really hard. You then see Mario's face poking out of Francic's rear end, page 150.

Anyone more versed in manga, especially children's ones, know how the possible French and Spanish translations will work out? I don't think this stuff jives well for the more "Western" audience. But again, there is a cross-dressing Wario in page 167.

Is that series still going?

You bet. Volume 52 is the latest volume and is released at March 28, 2017.

Damn, everyone looks cute in that manga.

good lord.

what are they currently adapting?

As someone who's more versed in anime, I can at least say that it's unlikely that the manga will be modified in any serious way. Nowadays, since a lot of Western-oriented anime is online, where its consumers are plenty able to see the previous versions, the content mostly remains unchanged. While the visuals almost always stay the same, the dialog may be slightly changed if, for example, they make a joke that relies entirely on knowledge that Western individuals wouldn't have. If it airs on TV, then they'll likely see the same thing that Japanese viewers saw on TV. Back in the day, though, anime suffered a lot from "Westernization". 4Kids got a lot of flack for this...

But really, nobody got out unscathed.

Nowadays, nothing even close to this is happening. While I can't say for certain if manga has followed the same trend as anime, I can at least say with some certainty that unless someone visibly shows their undesirables, I don't think much will change.

Well, they were adapting Super Mario 3D World, but the latest cover doesn't tell me much.

And recent Super Mario-Kun is not completely free of disgusting stuff. In volume 48 for instance

  • Bowser picks his nose with a Clown Car on his pinky. When he takes it out, you can even see some snot attached to it. Page 61.
  • Page 138, the Potted Piranha Mario adopts bites Mario on the head. You can see blood leaking out on his cap.
And that's about it in terms of what I found is disgusting or "wow that's not something you see every day" shock. It's nothing compared to volume 22. To its credit, Cat Mario never throws out a hairball, not in this volume at least. I really give credit for that. Not sure about the later volumes though.

There is a chapter where Luigi teams up with Yoshi against a Cooligan and a Walrus thing disrupting the environment. They manage to defeat them by getting sick and using their fever to melt everything.

There is quite a bit of cross-dressing and detailed "character with beaten up face with leaking nostrils" but I think that's a common trait, especially leaking nostrils, in Japanese children's manga so I don't count those.

And from the manga, I'm pretty sure Mario is invincible given all those battles he's in and he never really seems to die or get defeated to the point where he stops fighting. Comedy slapstick, the good guy always wins. I think the fights are okay though since it's more how Mario fights can get pretty crazy.

In a Yoshi's Island Super Mario-Kun manga, Mario and friends pull down Burt the Bashful and behold, you see his genitals. I'm sure that's easily censored in manga. Same goes for blood, and yeah, there is the occasional blood in Super Mario-Kun.

You know it amuses me how much the M&L series recycles plot points.

Take the first 2 games for example, both start with Bowser's attempt at kidnapping Peach ruined by the arrival of another villain, both have temporary team ups between them and the bros on board the koopa cruiser which is then destroyed by said villain and then Bowser becomes a minor antagonist for the rest of the game.

Then there is crap like how both times the bros team up with an alternate version of themselves they first get defeated by some minor enemies with an unavoidable attack until the alt versions comes and saves them.

Plus 2 games revolving around badguys getting wish granting thingies

I think the only time a M&L wish-granting object was actually a threat in the hands of a villain was DT when Bowser almost despawned the Bros. with the Dream Stone. The Beanstar literally never used any of its supposed powers in the entirety of Superstar Saga, neither by the villains or the heroes (who could've probably used it to more easily defeat Bowletta in the end since they had both it and Peach)

wishes and dreams seems to be a major recurring plot element in the Mario RPGs as a whole

at least its not "four elemental beach balls" bullshit

Indeed, if you really look into it, these games are full of plotholes and stuff like that. Or at least really bad leaps in logic from the protagonists and antagonists.

Ah well, always said plot was never these game's strong points.

I have contemplated making one like it just for shits and giggles.
