Some series that need to come back

The next Wario Land should have Waluigi, and allow Wario & Waluigi co-op play, i have no idea why Waluigi hasn't been utilized in any of Wario's games despite them being like, inseparable in the Mario spinoffs.

A sequel to Super Mario RPG should happen too. I know Paper Mario was originally gonna be that, but I mean like another RPG style Mario game that's not explicitly part of the Paper Mario or M&L series, but maybe with elements taken from them (I think Mario RPG's battle system is pretty dated and it could really use the enhancements the later RPGs added to give it more oomph)

Either that or a remake, either way I think it should tie in to Geno being in Smash

also Mario Strikers, and its artwork better be just as gritty and badass as the original games, none of this sterilization please

This is actually a really good idea

Mario Super Sluggers and Mario Strikers Charged (as well as Wario Land) have completely skipped 2010s so I hope I get to see them within the next 10 years.

btw I refuse to say Wario World is a Wario Land game

Mario vs Donkey Kong

Wario Land

DK Jungle Beat 2.

The Wario Land games are built around the main character's strength and burliness. Waluigi, on the other hand, is more on the tall, lanky side. I could maybe see him in a Mario platformer as an extreme version of Luigi akin to Weird Mario that is unreasonably tractionless but jumps very high. But that simply wouldn't work in a puzzle-oriented platformer like Wario Land where the controls have to be very tight, aka the character has to respond perfectly to the player's command to facilitate the puzzle aspect. Waluigi would be useless in a context like this--not that he already isn't useless everywhere.

I agree. There's also the fact that Waluigi was never really meant to be a "real" character anyway - he was created for Mario Tennis and... that's it. I strongly agree, however, that a new Wario Land game should be released - and they should keep the art style of Shake It!, because that looked gorgeous.

Another baseball game and Strikers 3 could also have a lot of potential, though another Strikers isn't likely.

I REALLY hope we get a new WarioWare this year...

What do you considered for a character to be "real", then?

Thank you for reading.

Oh yeah, that I absolutely agree with. But as much of a fan of the Wario platform games (even Master of Disguise) as I am, I opine that the series has never reached perfection. Shake It was cool, but it was more of the same thing as Wario Land 4 and was pretty easy--didn't feel like the righteous Wario Land revival fans were expecting, as much as something like Pizza Tower shapes up to be. Which, by the way, actually feels like what Shake It should have been imo.

A new game would be perfect if they'd manage to mix in all the good things from previous Wario Land games--the whackiness of Wario Land 4, the razzle-dazzleness of Shake It (the casino level felt at home in the series), a character dynamic and story like in Master of Disguise (Wario's characterization in that game was the best in any game he's been in) and, of course, a brand new mechanic to complement the already excellent gameplay established in the series.

I do too, but I mean, Gold was last year those character trailers running into 2019 broke my brain

Last year? This is 2020

Whelp, they've got you there :yoshi:

What I meant by that was that Waluigi isn't in his game of origin for any actual reason in-universe, which sets him apart from most of the other characters in the series. Basically, what I mean is if Waluigi didn't exist, none of the games he was in would be notably different. (And yes, I do know he had a story role in some spin-offs, but he could have easily been replaced / removed entirely and there wouldn't be a huge difference.)

I suppose that there's a point there since the people who didn't take to Waluigi have a similar sentiment. With that said, it doesn't strike me that a character needs to have a huge justification to be considered justified.

I actually think that Waluigi being introduced in a seemingly unimportant game is what makes his introduction unique, especially because he's the only regular that's neither introduced in Super Mario or Mario Kart. And besides, he's has his fans so it's not like he's unlikeable in the same way Tingle was. In addition to this, it's never too late for a character introduced in a spin-off to get some noteworthy acknowledgements (like Toadette, who only begun springing up regularly since Captain Toad, 11 years after her introduction).

Thank you for reading.

True that. I'm definitely not saying that a spin-off character can't eventually begin appearing in mainline games - in fact, I neglected to realize in the first place that Toadette was really in the same boat as Waluigi - she was there because Toad needed a parallel character, like Waluigi was to Wario. However, Waluigi is different from Toadette in the fact that some people like him a lot, while others feel that he should be cast into the fires of Mount Pajamaja from whence he came (I take a neutral stance). This is probably the prime reason why Nintendo doesn't include him in the games that the most people will end up playing - it could end up being a huge miss because of that. (I mean, if I had a truly negative stance on Waluigi, I would imagine I would just ignore it, but I don't know how far some people might go.)

Mario vs. Donkey Kong - Preferably styled after Donkey Kong '94 and the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong where you control Mario instead of the Minis.
Paper Mario Switch - It is inevitable at some point. (Please be like the OG trilogy. Please. I'm on my hands and knees begging here.)
Mario Strikers Switch - The cameo in Luigi's Mansion 3 gave me a little hope.
Wario Land Switch - We are LOOOOOOOOOONG overdue. Utilize Waluigi too please.
WarioWare Switchin' it Up - Okay that's obviously not the subtitle, but somehow I kinda got a feeling there's going to be a pun in there somewhere.
Diddy Kong Racing 2 - If Ninty can't get the rights to use the Rare-exclusive characters, I'm perfectly content with them using the other characters introduced later in the DK universe after Microsoft bought Rare.

Oh yeah Mario vs. Donkey Kong in the style of the GBA entry and DK94, that's another one we're long overdue for. Seriously they had something so great, then they released what should've been a spinoff, called it a sequel, and every game after used that other style.

And yeah Paper Mario needs to be like the first 3 again. Aspects I have a particular focus on are the cast of characters (do not restrict it to main series only/nothing original again) and the story (i want it to take the story in the direction it had been going before Sticker Star. Limit references to SS/CS to a minimum, though I'll gladly welcome a return of Huey as long as other original characters are there)

Anyway, I haven't answered the question.

My primary longing for a series that needs a grand return is Wario's Woods, although I can settle it if they title it after Toad. Maybe it's a bit more difficult to get into compared to the likes of Dr. Mario or the average Mario Party puzzle minigame, but it's a very unique and rewarding type of puzzle game. The one in Brain Age is just not the same.

The Donkey Kong-styled Mario platformer is another good answer: Mario's typically defined by the Super Mario platformer, but a return of his Donkey Kong day would be lovely because of how unique it made Mario. Adding a moveset similar to a 2D Super Mario 64 is brilliant for Mario to overcome his jumping limitations. Plus, Donkey Kong as a villain would be a nice change of pace after the many iterations of Bowser villainous shenanigans.

Thank you for reading.

Mario & Luigi - AlphaDream may be gone but I really don't want the series to die. I sincerely hope it is able to continue on Switch. Preferably with multiplayer, too.

Paper Mario - If M&L6 isn't possible then I'll take a Paper Mario. I don't care whether it's like the original duology or SS/CS or something entirely new, as long as it's fun to play and doesn't go out of control on story and characters (looking at you, SPM).

Mario Baseball - Mario hasn't held a baseball bat in over a decade (well okay, there was Sports Superstars, but still); it's high time we see him hit a home run again. A Mario Golf game would be good too, considering that it's been a little while since World Tour and that game was pretty great.

Mario vs Donkey Kong - Preferably in the original style, but I'll be cool if they choose to use the Mini style again.

Wario Land - Haven't played a Wario Land game yet, but would like to try one. This series is long overdue.

And finally...

Mario Kart - It's been six years since the last proper Mario Kart, and Switch still doesn't have one to call its own. MK8 is not the Switch's flagship Mario Kart, and I sure hope Nintendo isn't trying to make it so.

> Wario Land
> Waluigi

While I'm fine with this idea and do question why Waluigi wasn't considered in the last WL game, the issue of lack of Waluigi's mainstream spotlights also work for other Warioware titles and Mario games like Luigi's Mansion. So the return of WL isn't just for Waluigi's redemption. Waluigi's redemption could had been relealized in many other games.

Relunctantly I also like to see Captain Syrup reprise her main antagonist role, but similiarly I still think Syrup could had fit in Wariowares too.

> Super Mario RPG
> Geno

As you already note, the RPGs are not necessarily continuous stoyline. I get that you like the system and artworks from the original game, but a potential SMRPG2 isn't necessarily the storywise sequel, neither does. At this point I just think every rpg title better stay independent so that people don't need to review the old story since people might have trouble with getting the game from an old console, unless NIntendo make enough support for virtual contents.

Just like what I said about Waluigi, Geno should make more appearances across different kinds of games and his oppotunity exists in every game. It isn't restricted only in a SMRPG, and if it is, that only shows he is very restricted and can never have a significant status.

Regarding the the topic in general, I'd think I like to see:
Mario vs DK, aka Mini March series. But with further contents from respective series and it might be interesting to see the two main casts from each series also participate as well. We haven't really seen Mario cast and DK cast make diret rivalry altogether.

Mario RPGs in general, yeah, I'm not quite sure about M&L, but just hope that the whole RPG line won't get discontinued.

For other spinoffs I really miss Mario Superstar Baseball, it's a rare Mario spinoff that has big roster and high freedom for team formation. It's sad to not see it in WiiU era, and I think it's the most deserving Mario sport game for every console.

Oh, I mentioned Warioware so it's prbobaly time for a new one.

They could take elements from M&L and have him as Wario's partner, he could specialize in fitting into tight spaces, distracting or sneaking by enemies, carrying Wario across hazardous areas, all with the help of Wario beating him up to make it happen. Or he could be the damsel in distress for Wario to rescue because he has the treasure on him.
