Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch)

I think the funniest part so far is when a really easy battle (say, two goombas or koopas), takes one turn in the first chapters because of the stage parts benefiting you.
Also, doing the *No HP upgrades* thing is quite the thrill ride, especially when I have to superguard, which I'm ironically better at than guarding

I may have found a way to cheese the first phase of the final boss
Use Clock Out and if it hits, Power Lift the next turn and whale on her. Then, if you managed to Bingo a Star Power refill, repeat the process again and again. It stopped working at 60HP remaining for me, but it helps skip the first phase if you die like I did.

So after completing the Switch version of TTYD, here are my thoughts.

As someone who's played the original many times, it took some time to get used to the 30 FPS of the remaster. It was surprisingly tricky to get the timings down of guarding and attacking due to the decreased framerate. But once I got used to it, it didn't bother me too much. Also, menus aren't as smooth as it was on GameCube.

Minor things, but I don't like that they removed the option to rewind text and speeding up text. And some of the sound effects that were change was disappointing. (Like the scream when you hit one of the hater audience members isn't in the Switch version).

I like how the graphics look on Switch, it looks very clean while still looking like the original GameCube game. That's really all I wanted for the graphics.

I love that the partners and other characters have more expressive sprites and back sprites as well. It sounds like a small thing, but it really makes the cutscenes more fun to watch with the characters being more expressive.

I was hoping to see more cutscenes where all the current partners are shown. There were two more cutscenes that was edited to have all the partners out. (When bringing the map to the door and the Blimp). I do wish there were more added, but I did like the moments when they did.

It was very well appreciated that they reduced the backtracking in areas. Like adding a pipe to avoid the unnecessary third time traveling back to the haunted house just to have the big fight with Doopliss and adding the room with the pipes to previous locations so the General White quest doesn't take as long to do.

The remade music is pretty good. Of course there's some music where I prefer the original (Rawk Hawk fight for an example), but I generally liked the remade music. I also like that they added new music cues during certain moments. And it was cool that they remixed the battle theme for each chapter. And there's the option to switch to the GC soundtrack early on.

The game was really generous with the coins. I liked in Chapter 3, they kept a reminder of the battle conditions for each fight in the Glitz Pit. The option to skip repeated cutscenes is also appreciated.

So that was my thoughts on the TTYD on Switch. I overall enjoyed the experience! A Paper Mario N64 remaster like this one would be welcomed.
