Criticism for mp4-8: "It's the same thing!"I agree that while Mario Party 9 might be treated harshly by fans of the series, I still admired the NDcube entries of Mario Party because I feel like they might have a reason to try something new, like how the older Mario Party games got too many games in a short time so they probably wanted to do something new.
Have you thought about modding Wario over Impostor Bowser in Bowser's Kaboom Squad? At least you can select your teammates in that mode.I do prefer Coinathlon over Koopathlon mostly because you can select your opponent in Coinathlon and even set individual difficulties (so Hard Waluigi is often ahead of Medium DK and Easy Wario).
That being said, I did create a mod where all my opponents were Warios, a Waluigi, and a Donkey Kong, and Coinathlon is soooo much better now.
It sounds like a really great idea, but I guess I'll have to try this out for myself. The mod doesn't actually extract and replace models. All you do is edit a .json file that governs which models and animations load over which slot, which was pretty easy edits all together. It really depends on how the animations play, though, because Imposter Bowser might have some unique animations that show up strangely otherwise if another character is modded over him.Have you thought about modding Wario over Impostor Bowser in Bowser's Kaboom Squad? I'm always fond of the funny scenario of having multiple of the same character. We already have Bowser/Dry Bowser, Mario/Baby Mario/Tanooki Mario, Luigi/Luigi (Super Mario Galaxy is where they don't even pretend to care, and I love that), Toadette/Peachette. Might as well go crazy with that.Such a shame that Mario Party is yet to fully embrace the hilarity of selecting the same character, when certain series either embraced it fully (Mario Kart) or dipped the toes a bit (Mario Tennis).
Thank you for reading.
I would much prefer it was the same formula. Just provide different gimmicks with the new boards of a game.Criticism for mp4-8: "It's the same thing!"
Totally agree that computers have bad AI. They're decent when out and about but sometimes they do cause Impostor Bowser to destroy crates and bombs, which is why I usually make him chase me away from everyone else. As for the minigames, computers are pretty solid most of the time but they can sometimes be stupid in "Puzzle Pandemonium", "Look This Way" and "Match! That! Item"! I declare "Ballistic Bingo" to be the worst one though, not just because of the constant missing that occurs but also the ridiculous requirement to S rank it. "Bath Bob-ombs" too to a lesser extent.Sigh, I concur that it is incredily difficult to get 5 stars in Bowser's Kaboom Squad.
With CPUs it's probably just not possible, and I haven't had much luck with online randoms. They struggle in different areas: The computers are at least competent at the minigames and is easier to S rank minigames than it is with humans. But they are hopeless on the map.
Humans can often let you down in the minigames, but do better on the map. At least if you're grouped with people who know what they're doing...
People need to know that when the purple reticle appears on their character, it means that Bowser will follow them and they should stay away from any crates or bombs on the map. Bowser instantly destroys the crates, and any bombs that he touches will vanish and are lost...Luring Bowser towards the crates is just about the worst thing that you can do, but most don't seem to understand this...
Personally I think that the best way to get 5 stars is a coordinated effort by human players, especially online. I do not know how many humans are required to make the dream come true, but everyone must at least be: (1) great at minigames, and (2) able to handle the bombs and coins.Totally agree that computers have bad AI. I have 4.5 starred all stages but haven't 5 starred any. YET! Don't know if I'll attempt that and if I do, when I'll try. The mode is a blast to play and the only bad thing about it are the final two minigames mentioned above.
