whats your pokemon party

Yeah, I guess if that's how you want to play...

It is easier to raise more Pokemon this gen because they changed the EXP formula. It now gives more EXP the lower your level, so the EXP is distributed in a more balanced way. This means that if you train 6 Pokemon, you technically get more experience because your Pokemon's levels will be lower because the total amount of EXP you gain is divided by six among the team.

Pretty good, it's nice to see someone who didn't pick Typhlosion.

I got fed up with my Pidgeot in LeafGreen and stopped training them, they aren't very good.

Ampharos is definitely one of the best Gen II Pokemon (though that's not saying much).

Espeon has great stats; a 130 base Sp. Atk and base 110 Speed is impressive. I prefer it's faster cousin Jolteon but Espeon is pretty good too.

Magmar is mediocre, it's Magmortar that's good and you can't get him in Gold, so...I'd say train something else if possible. Maybe a Skarmory?

Yeah, I find the fire starters a little bit overrated, but they're still good, so I can't blame everyone else for picking them.

Pidgeot's not bad, I used one in both of my FireRed playthroughs.

I love electric types. :)

Jolteon's awesome, I agree, but as you can see, I've already got an electric type and I don't think you can get Eevee's Gen I evolutions yet.

I need Magmar since I want to have a fire type on my team, and I can't really find any other fire-types right now. Besides, it hasn't let me down yet.

Thanks for the input though.

Pidgeot really is pathetic compared to other Pokemon such as Gyarados and being Flying type isn't very useful offensively. I ended up dropping it midway through the game because I got better Pokemon such as Gengar, Alakazam, Jolteon, Gyarados, Machamp...

Yeah, having Jolteon and Ampharos would be pointless.

Magmar is one of the better Pokemon in that game, he's certainly better than Magcargo anyways. I suppose the reason why people pick Typholsion is because there aren't many good Fire types available in Gen II. That and people are usually biased towards the Fire types; people are choosing Emboar a lot these days and he's terrible. If you'd picked Cyndiquill then you could be training the Red Gyarados right now, but it is good to be different.

A Flying type? What for? Anyways...

I trained a Swellow before, it's not bad but it really pales in comparison to other Pokemon. And techically Gyarados is a Flying type, so I'll just say train one of those. :P

Don't train these, but you can teach Fly to:

Tailow
Swellow
Wingull
Pelipper
Swablu
Altaria

You can also teach it to Flygon and Salamence; those are strong Pokemon but hard to obtain.

EDIT: Also Tropius.

I'm going to guess you're in Icirrus City right now?

Yamask (later Cofa grigus) is an excellent defensive Pokemon, not very strong but he he great at what he does. A good choice, and one I personally haven't done yet. He's slow, but that is not a major problem for him because he is a defensive Pokemon.

Solosis (later Reuniclus) is rather difficult to use, he has amazing HP and Sp. Atk and decent everything else except Speed. His speed is rock-bottom, and he is only able to outspeed people who are even worse (such as Gigalith). The best sets I've read for him are only doable after the Elite Four, such as using Calm Mind and Trick Room (those TMs are obtained after the Elite Four). My advice is to drop him and wait until after the Elite Four to train him.

Tranquill is a Pokemon who looks promising, but in the end doesn't have the stats to fight very well. My advice is to drop him.

Gurdurr (later Conkeldurr) are a nice addition to your team, his movepool basically only has Fighting and Rock moves but in the end, this guy is an absolute powerhouse and you will definitely want him on your team. If you can get him to evolve, that is. If you don't have anyone to trade with, I would suggest dropping him. My brother tried to train a Gurdurr without evolving and it just didn't work. Also, he isn't very fast, but he isn't really slow either.

Boldore (later Gigalith) is a pretty impressive Pokemon. He has huge amounts of Attack and Defense, but his special side is very low and his Speed is literally the third slowest out of all fully evolved Pokemon in Gen V. That's even slower than Reuniclus. It's really up to you whether or not to train him, if you don't think his special weakness will be too limiting then go ahead.

A great choice. Samurott is a fairly Powerful Pokemon who doesn't lack defenses either. His Sp. Atk is slightly higher than his Attack, but you can still use physical moves regardless as they are both high. I really don't have much to say about this guy.

My advice is to certainly drop Tranquill and possibly Boldore and Gurdurr (only if you can't evolve them). I also would caution against training six Pokemon at a time as the Elite Four are not very weak this gen. They aren't ridiculously strong though and it is possible to beat them, but very difficult. I only trained four Pokemon: Excadrill, Reuniclus, Conkeldurr, and Larvesta. You can train five though, I've done it before.

If you have to drop Gurdurr and Boldore, I would suggest replacing them with Joltik (later Galvantula), Klink (later Klinklang), Drilbur (later Excadrill), Sandile (later Krookodile), or Vanillite (later Vanilluxe).

I'm evolving Gurdurr tomorrow. I'll trade with my friend, then trade back.

Thanks for the advice, I actually caught Drilbur for Excadrill and Sandile for Krookodile. Vanillite needs some serious training. I'm training Yamask to evolve it into Cofa garious.

Farthest I've gotten is Route 7. Currently in Driftveil City abusing the Lucky Egg and the Audino trick on Yamask.

Route 7 with a Cubchoo? How is this possible?

I'm guessing you decided not to train Boldore then, it's a good choice in my opinion. I tried training him and it was hard and I really hate using slow Pokemon, so I finally just stopped.

It's overkill to have Excadrill and Krookodile, pick one or the other. I picked Excadrill, but it's really up to you. Excadrill is the fastest Pokemon in the entire game in a sandstorm, but Krookodile fights better outside of one.

Vanilluxe is great, I used it in my first run through. A bit frail, but you can OHKO so many things with Ice Beam.

It's winter in mine as well, but I played through the whole game in Spring and Summer first, so I didn't know. Make sure you get to Twist Mountain and Icirrus City while it's still winter; you can access a lot more stuff.

I started a Nuzlocke on Crystal, and here's what I have so far (I'm about to battle Whitney):

Pokey (Slowpoke) level 7
Ratty (Rattata) level 18
Polly (Poliwag) level 19
Geo (Geodude) level 18
Monty (Ekans) level 17
Zuby (Zubat) level 8

Laid to rest in the Heaven PC box are:

Hooty (Hoothoot) level 10
Gasty (Gastly) level 17
Quilly (Quilava) level 18
:'(

Yeah, it's gonna be pretty tough battling Whitney with these guys. I did have a strategy combining Gasty's Hypnosis and immunity to Normal and Geo's resistance to Normal, but now I'm either gonna have to figure out a new strategy (not likely with these guys) or just grind, grind, grind, grind on wild Pokemon to level them up.

PS Again with the oh-so-creative nicknames, huh? In Nuzlocke, you're encouraged to nickname your Pokemon to make a kind of emotional bond, so I figured, why not.

Tauros? Good? What?!?

How about Blissey and Snorlax? People are still using Blissey because of that ridiculous base HP.

I guess I'll just use 5 Pokemon then.

Anyway, I don't know if I've already posted my White team, but,

1. Samurott
2. Unfenzant
3. Eelektross
4. Krookodile
5. Pansear
6.

You need to put a space between Cofa and grigus because the auto censor blocks it.

That's a fairly good team, except for Unfezant and Pansear. Pansear is great when you get him but there are better Fire types available such as Volcarona and Darmanitan. I hate Darmanitan because he's so OP, but I respect my enemies. I still don't know why people are training Unfezant, even Stoutland is better.

Meh, I just like having a flying type on my team and I'm not good with pure normal types.

Darmanitan is cool and I like how it's part psychic in it's Zen mode, but I don't think I have time to catch a Darumaka and I don't want to spend time wasting time and money on Pokeballs trying to find with with the Zen Mode ability.

You can use your RageCandyBars to awaken the Darmanitan outside of Relic Castle, and they all will have the ability Zen Mode.

I use Braviary as my Flying type because he looks cooler, has a cooler name, and has better stats. I don't train him though, just use him to Fly. Why do you want a flying type on your team anyway? They aren't that good.
