  • I've been playing a lot of Mr. Game & Watch recently, and I think the only thing that needs to be changed is his Up-Air. His F-Air is fine, I do like his old one, but they're both so different I can't say prefer one over the other. His Up-Air is almost useless, it can't be comboed out of, and it doesn't kill, making I really situational and awkward move to use. His old Up-Air, while inconsistent, at least was able to kill.

At this point I'm starting to consider making him my main again. I may or may not have overreacted to his changes for the past year.

his up air seems alright from what I've seen of Maister, he usually uses it to juggle characters that attempt to fall from above and that sort of conditions them to approach diagonally so he can catch them with bair or fair.

but Maister is also just really good, he makes g dubs look busted.

I love playing as Mr. Game & Watch! In Smash for 3DS, he's my 4th favourite playable character.

Mr. Game & Watch has a juggling play style. I like using uair to rack up damage from a safe distance and pressure characters, and it's more ranged than nair. Up B is his most annoying but effective kit, so use it and watch others curse.

Tommy Oliver whether he be the OG green ranger, white ranger, red zeo ranger or black dino ranger. I haven't watched the show in forever but I remember him being cool.

Also the red ranger from Time Force was also pretty cool.
Everytime I listen to King Dedede's Theme, I expect it to turn into Harder to Breath. I need to stop watching SiIvaGunner.

Most of my favourite VG music comes from the Mario RPGs but I don't play many games outside of Mario so I'd find it hard to judge for VGs in general

I find it easy to overdo the fast paced songs to the point they risk sounding alike but on the other hand, Mortal Kombat's main theme, Marvel vs Capcom, ....
Solitaire should've been the Microsoft character in Smash.
Let's devote a separate post entirely about a hypothetical Sega mascot fighter in the same vein as Sega & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Of course, the Daytona Hornet should be playable.

We've got obvious ones such as Sonic, Tails, Eggman, NiGHTs, Beat, Akira, AiAi, Vyse, Alex Kidd, and Danica Patrick

What chances do Ryo, Bayonetta, Ecco, Gunstar Red?

And what about really obscure characters who have only a few entries like Tempo and Dynamite Headdy?
    Toka Hebizuka

Ryo would definitely be playable, but I have a feeling they'd make him DLC again.

While it would be nice to have her, Bayonetta is pretty much a Nintendo character at this point. SEGA only had involvement with the first game, while 2 and the upcoming 3rd game are published by Nintendo. She can be in the game, but I don't think she will.

Ecco would be brilliant, and I don't know why we haven't seen him in an All-Stars game. The time travelling Dolphin that fights Aliens is bound to make it into an All-Stars game eventually, so I can see him being in a fighting game. Gunstar Red is another character I'm surprised hasn't appeared yet. I personally see a Gunstar Heroes character as being an Ice Climbers-esque duo. Speaking of characters I'm surprised haven't appeared yet, Altered Beast. He'd fit right into a Fighting Game, with his specials being using the different animal abilities.

I'd like to see Headdy appear, even if I think his chances are really low. If he was in, he'd have too have a metal arrangement of 'You're Izayoi".

I've never heard of Tempo before, but the fact that he's a Grasshopper reminds me off Bug! You know, that one Saturn launch title that no-one remembers? Speaking of launch titles that no-one remembers, how about Sparky from Pen Pen TriIcelon? He's the bright blue abomination among this cast of lovely abominations (my favourite's the pink Hippo). I think it's about time that the final third of Fighters Megamix got acknowledged, Fighting Vipers. It's a fighting game developed by SEGA, so I see no reason not to put a character in. Finally I'd like to give an honourable mention to Seaman, Segata Sanshiro, and this roster I made a while back.
In addition to the Hornet from Daytona USA being a playable fighter in Smash I also support:

    • Mercedes-Benz GLA from Mario Kart with a Mario Kart moveset
    • Devil Car from Earthbound as a new Mother rep
    • Stunt Race FX vehicles. All of them.
    • Volkswagen Beetles from Beetle Adventure Racing who use missiles and traps and cloaking devices
    • Putt Putt for an edutainment mascot
    • Lightning Mcqueen with kachow

And have the Magic School Bus, Chevron cars, and that car from Who Framed Roger Rabbit as spirits.

The issue with All-Stars is that most companies wouldn't let their characters be used unless they could be used for promotional purposes, so that's why we ended up with Raiden and the version of Dante we don't talk about, but not Snake, Cloud, Dante or Crash Bandicoot. The game could've used some non-humanoid characters. as they always provide creative and unique movesets.

I really hope we get a SEGA crossover fighting game where Hornet is playable, think Fighters Megamix but with the roster of an All-Stars games, and then some. There's a lot of untapped potential with a roster for a crossover game featuring SEGA character, imagine a game where Sonic, Hatsune Miku, Segata Sanshiro, Ecco the Dolphin, Bin and Pin (or Bean), Football Manager, Jack Frost, Arle, Bayonetta, Kazuma Kiryu and (of course) Hornet are all playable. It would be crazy.

    ---------------------------

Enough tangents about inferior fighting games (one of which doesn't even exist), let's talk about Cars in Smash. While it was a good film, we're not getting any non-video game characters in Smash, so it won't happen unfortunately. I'm pretty sure you already know that I support Putt-Putt, and obviously Hornet, I also support a Stunt Race FX rep. While I would prefer Porky, the Devil Car a is car so it isn't too bad of a choice either. I'd also like to see the previously mentioned car from Wipeout, so we can get what an F-Zero character should've been.

For a car from non-video game franchises, Lightning McQueen would be my first choice (I like the films too much), but I also think Herbie and the Truck from Monster Trucks (yes that film exists) could be interesting, the former is iconic, while the latter has a lot of moveset potential as it has a monster inside of it.

Finally there's real life cars, you've sold me on having the Beetle from Beetles Adventure Racing in the game. I'd be happy with GLA, though I'd prefer if it was an echo fighter or an alt. costume of the Standard Kart. For other games, Gran Turismo and Forza have potential, but unlike Mario they don't have a car that's frequently associated with them, as they keep changing which car is used in the marketing for each game, and often use multiple for each game. I can totally see the Fiera being used to represent Ridge Racer, though I'd expect them to represent the series using Reiko Nagase.

For the GLA, would you prefer it with 8-Bit Mario inside (like in SMM), without the roof (like in MK8), or a normal GLA?
    Ray Trace
    Ray Trace
I'd like to have just a GLA without any sort of rider whatsoever and with a roof. A go-kart would be a perfect rep for the Mario Kart series and it can use all sorts Mario Kart-related items and use tricks and gliders for its moves as well. If we're going to talk about Mario RPGs getting reps such as Geno or Paper Mario, then why not have a Mario Kart specific rep? Mario Kart already has three total stages in the entire Mario franchise: Paper Mario has only exactly one. Mario Kart go-karts like you said can be just alternate karts like model imports, and we can have a variety of karts from a large variety from Mario Kart games, such as a Pipe Frame, the Wario Car, the Koopa King, etc.

Burnout games also have a great rep for cars as well, as they can use boosters and they wreck themselves in lots of glorious ways: the cinematic wreckages can be part of their final smash where they can hit characters and get wrecked in the process. Though if we were to limit real car reps to other series, Burnout can be represented by a stage like Paradise City instead, and hell yeah let's get Gun & Roses to get music into Smash that would be simply amazing.

A Japanese car can be used from nonvideo game franchises as well. The iconic Toyota AE86 Trueno from the anime Initial D definitely deserves a shot for an appearance like a spirit and hell we can even get Initial D music, which is great, like Running from the 90's.

    Toka Hebizuka
I completely forgot about Burnout, it would be perfect for a fighting game considering it's a racing game about being aggressive to the other racers. I also remembered that Need for Speed exists, but it suffers from a similar problem to Forza and GT.

The Toyota AE86 is a must have, if only for, as you mentioned, the music.
I've modded my DSi, so now I can play Newer Super Mario Bros. DS in the highest possible quality.

The DSi XL is probably one of the best ways to play DS games, as the method the 3DS uses for upscaling DS games blurs the image, and makes the colours washed out.

can't you also play newer super mario bros. ds with emulation though

I only emulate consoles I don't have access to, so I don't use emulators for consoles such as the Wii or DS as I can play games on the console itself.
Who is your favorite character in Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled? I'm pretty sure you can guess mine, but I got the game just so I can input controller combos so I can play as Penta Penguin from the getgo. Penta's best color scheme is the blue jay one, and I want to get the Ninja Penta. Yay penguin yay one!
    Toka Hebizuka
    Toka Hebizuka
Penta's the one I use the most too. He's rather unique compared to rest of the advanced characters, being a cute penguin rather then a some what boring villain. I like the references to the original CTR with the fact that he's unlocked via a cheat code (a rare occurrence for modern video games), and the Yay Penguin One voice clip. I normally use Penta Parrot, as I like how colourful it is.
    Zelda and Tri
    Zelda and Tri
I would main Coco, Penta, Polar, Pura, Zam, Tawna, all trophy girls, and Baby Coco, sometimes play as Velo and Zem, and occasionally play as Oxide if I had the game. I'm currently holding out for CTR: NF right now, as there are other games like Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Super Mario Party that I want right now. I wouldn't mind having it, but it's not something I'd play very often because it requires NSO, which I don't have yet.
I just realised that my theme fits into the doctor name change fad before the change to XenForo.

    Toka Hebizuka
    Toka Hebizuka
I did use this underwater base somewhere in Kingdom Valley back in '06, but Sonic just waltzed right in. I didn't make that base however, so if it was made by me then he wouldn't have been able to get in.
Should Mr. Game & Watch's parachute be used as an attack again?
    LeftyGreenMario
    LeftyGreenMario
Parachute is a simple strongish attack that has a wide range. Has some start up lag compared to the fish bowl, but it's stronger and great for offstage offense or just general offense rather than racking up damage. It's also a combo tool iirc, so it's a versatile move, just probably more of a finisher than a damage racker, though.

Oh yeah, he needs kill options. Only fsmash does really anything. Game & Watch is supposed to fill the archetype of a glass cannon, everything about that just seems nerfed after Barlw.
