Wii U

Nice guy intel

Actually, Nabber, it was in one of those Nintendo Directs, as far as my memory goes.
And yet it didn't prove my point, Developers, especially the bigger ones, don't announce anything, if they haven't made it yet.
Making something doesn't mean they need to release it.

Not really, that's why Vaporware exists, just look at Bioshock Infinite or Duke Nukem or Half Life 2: Episode 3

They still must have done at least something, before the announcement.
It's really not that easy to tell the world, "I'm going to make Duke Nukem with talking trees in it!".
10 years later, it turns out they didn't even start on it.

Power is the reason behind it.

Not many games will use it anyway. Nintendo could be heading in the same direction as Sega.

Did Sega have a killer IP like Pokemon, which has sold over 125 million units Lifetime-to-date? Did Sega have a console that sold over 100 million units worldwide before the Dreamcast launched? Did Sega have 812.8 BILLION Yen in the bank during the Dreamcast days? Did Sega have Mario, Metroid, or Donkey Kong? Did Sega have a market leading portable that dominates the sales charts? The answer to all these questions is no. Nintendo is not Sega, the Wii U is not the next Dreamcast. Nintendo has stronger IPs that sell. The Wii U doesn’t have to sell as much as the Wii to be successful. They can sell 40 to 50 million units in 5-6 years and be ok. Nintendo might have had a weak January and Feb, but that doesn’t turn them into Sega. Lets list all the failed hardware Sega had before the downfall of the Dreamcast:

1. Sega GameGear
2. Sega CD
3. Sega 32X
4 Sega Saturn
5. Sega Nomad

Lakitu, they're actually aiming on the currently High-End PC, PS4, and the new Xbox, which are all more powerful than the Wii U.
I know, the Wii U is more powerful than a PS3 or Xbox 360, that's why it supports Unreal Engine 3, and so the iPhone does.
I've been on their site today, so yeah.

It could be.
At least, the iPhone 5 is.
It's not that I said so, but it's possible.

Wii U is such a console, Mr. Rein.

It's only next-gen in the sense of "it's an eighth generation console". Other than that, it's not boasting a next-gen GPU, next-gen RAM capacity, and it sure as hell isn't boasting a next-gen CPU. I love the Wii U and I love Nintendo just as much as anybody else, but when a current-gen console is failing to support current-gen technology, that's a problem for both the consumer and the developers.

It's this kind of shit, you see, why the Wii was a mess third-party wise last generation. Yes, it made fucktons of money off of casual games and shovelware, but that mine's already been excavated: the people who came for that have Androids and iPhones for their simple game fixes, and for the most part, a vast majority of gamers left in this arena are serious, devoted ones like you or me. Nintendo making a system that's:

  • Harder to develop for
  • Weaker than its competition, to the point where ports require a change of engine (this was present in the Wii as well)
  • Has a strange, new function that people don't feel like messing with ("We couldn't do anything with the Tablet controller" says Platinum, developers of Metal Gear Rising, EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE DEVELOPING OTHER GAMES FOR THE SYSTEM)
  • Lacking a large, established base (The problem here is that a lot of devs are unwilling to make titles for the Wii U because they think there isn't a market there- and because they aren't going and, you know, making a market there, the Wii U's fanbase suffers)

No Unreal Engine wouldn't be a problem if Nintendo wasn't actually trying to depend on third parties for games, unlike the Wii, so that's why I think it's sure a big issue this time.

Uh...how are they depending on third parties? They're releasing a lot more first and second-party exclusives at this point in the seventh generation than they have in the sixth.

They have, however, done their best to draw in the indie developers and are getting some decent third party support.
