I agree with Ugo and Garlic. Raising a number doesn't really do anything important. :-\

It (at least in my opinion) would be better for the forum than just not counting posts. Post count is for counting posts; making it live up to its name would improve the forum.

I find it odd how people try to exclude posts from the count because they are not quality. The only thing that is wrong with that logic is that quantity =/= quality. They really shouldn't be tied together, either. It just doesn't seem reasonable to have the posts excluded when people are actually making those posts.

Besides, "Quality" is a matter of opinion. One person can look at a post that says "Per." As you can imagine by now, there is a bit of a debate as to whether "Per"ring someone is a quality post.

That is why quality of posts should not be mixed up with quantity: The quality of a certain post is up to the reader to decide. There is nothing disputable about a number of posts that are accumulating.

I love how people first troll me for my opinions on my one-word posts. I love how as I propose something, I end up getting trolled over a matter of the meaning of a word. I felt it was a suggestion to improve the forum, so I posted it here. Get over it.

Sigh. You're the one taking my post out of context. What I'm saying is that things like these are all subjective, and you saying that something "doesn't matter" is like saying that anything else doesn't matter. If one person thinks something matters and no one else does, why should everyone elses' opinion matter more than his?

He is just blatantly trying to tick me/us off there, or so it would appear. He then proceeds to just say things like "No it wouldn't improve the forum." No reasoning as to why he thinks that. He could have at least said "Per NG" or whoever. I may be sounding paranoid, but I'm not surprised if he's going out of his way to tick me off.

Only an idiot would think that I didn't suggest it with the intentions of improving the forum. In your opinion, it may not improve the forum. Improvement is an aspect of the mind, just like quality of posts is. I felt it would improve the forum, so I suggested it.



Back to the topic, though. I feel it would be better to just allow the post counts. All you guys are doing is bickering over the definition of the word "Improvement." As Uniju said a page or two back, if there is an aspect to the forum that doesn't really matter, it should be left on as opposed to the latest decision.

It would also improve the forum by actually making a distinction between the quality and quantity of one's posts. A person can make 1,000 different, pointless posts. Another could have 5 meaningful posts. so what? Post count is nothing but a number.

It is very hypocritical to yell at me like "WTF man it doesn't matter they're post counts :( :( :(." If it really doesn't matter, you'd just concede.
 
Hey, I'm just stating my opinion too. I'm fine with either thing, but I'm annoyed that you're going out of your way to imply anyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot.

Nice way to take a part of my quote out of context. I never said that anybody was an idiot. You guys are making me sound like an idiot for suggesting what I felt would be an improvement in this thread.

To me, it seems like I'm being attacked. Maybe that's just because it's three people extensively arguing this out against one person. Or perhaps I'm just tired. o_O

Either way, I didn't mean to seem like I was calling anybody an idiot; and I apologize if that's what you concluded from that. I tend to read into people's comments on a more negative note, so sorry if I said that you guys were trolling me.

I'll stop with all of my other dumb comments.

But I'm still with my opinion that we should just let posts count. If it isn't detrimental to the forum, and I see it as an improvement, then why not just let them count?

Because you're obviously just saying that because if the subject is left alone, your side will continue to have their way.
