I remember when that song came out. I specifically remember being in class and my friend telling me "hey there's a new Homestuck album" and I listened to the whole thing at once

that was almost two years ago
 
Guys, I just realized something horrible.

LOHAC was one of the planets that got smashed. And the Mayor is on LOHAC! :o

But
considering how long they managed to survive on Earth while the universe was getting destroyed by Red Miles, he's probably fine for a while. Surviving planet destruction in Homestuck is pretty easy, in terms of "things that are would normally be impossible to survive".
 
Yeah, I know, and he's survived worse (lookin' at you, Cascade), but still, it's probably not gonna be a fun time for him.

I was not prepared for any of that. At all.

I am shaking. That is like...a whole new level of just wtf. And I thought that there was a lot going on in some of the previous things but no, this just took it to a whole new level.
 
it probably wasn't a good idea to watch the new update after not reading homestuck for nearly two years because i became lost instantly lol (music was great as usual, though)

i....might actually have to re-read some of the past updates because i forgot like everything starting with the guardians as children (jane, dirk, etc)

i watched it, was confused, then read from here which cleared up a lot of stuff i'd got fuzzy on. after reading through that the flash made perfect sense again

honestly i could deal with jane, jake, gamzee, aranea, and kanaya dying, BUT NOT KARKAT (and to a slightly lesser extent, dave) !!!!!

So, based on the information given, and assuming that Jade somehow revives on her death bed again, That means that all 4 Beta kids are alive, 3 of the Beta kids are alive, and 1 Troll is alive (I never knew what happened with Sollux and Aradia, so I'm probably way off with these calculations). If that's theory is right, then 413.

But seriously, I just...I thought it was going to be intense as in no main character dying, and then I saw Gamzee stab Karkat and I was like "Tavros flashbacks" and then he fell in the lava and I was like "omg he's for real dead" and then Jake was stabbed, and then Jane as well, and I was still recovering from Karkat's death. And then Kanaya came and just sliced Gamzee in half and it was so satisfying to see him finally be killed, but then that lazer killing Kanaya, and Dave being killed, and but not really since his death was Heroic, as well as Jake's, and ugh, it was just so much to take in at a time. Terezi was still alive and Rose was saved by Roxy just in time, and the fact that all of them didn't die and that some are coming back via heroic death makes me think that this timeline is not just some misleading crap Hussie has done before (such as when Vriska was about to fight Bec Noir only to have it return to when Terezi was doing the coin flip), and while I do hope it's a doomed Timeline, I just don't see it.

If that is true, then RIP Jane, Karkat, and Terezi. Those were the ones that really made me feel really sad because I mean, Karkat I thought for sure was going to be the last troll surviving out of all of them if Hussie did decide to kill all but one. Heck, I don't even know if Rose and Terezi will survive their wounds.

Marowak said the same thing, but the death of almost everyone I like pretty much eclipses everything I could have appreciated.

EDIT:
Also, Javelin is correct: A heroic death is permanent, just like a just one is. God tiers can only recover from deaths that are neither heroic nor just.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think this'll be resolved without retconning. The alive total is Rose, John (2 B1 kids); Roxy, Dirk (2 B2 kids); Terezi, Aradia, sorta-Sollux? (2.5 trolls), plus the sprites and assorted other characters. The Condesce taking Aranea's ring means Jane might be revived with it, and she'll bring Jake and Jade back even if Bec Noir's Quest Bed gambit doesn't work, although there's a big question mark about Dave still. Karkat, Kanaya and Gamzee's only hopes are that there were no "dead" panels for them; like I said before, I wonder if Echidna will somehow get involved in saving Karkat at least (and maybe the planets smashing together will result in other Denizens showing up).

Sollux is fully alive.
I have this theory of mine: Remember when Terezi stabbed Vriska and the latter just died. And she's probably stronger than Terezi because she's higher on the hemospectrum. And now Terezi got beaten up, stabbed the same way and she's still barely alive. Well, I really think that she's left alive JUST so she can tell John about what happened, then die. Since there's no one around who can tell him exactly what happened, unless Roxy and Rose are still there and didn't teleport into the void or whatever.
As for Karkat, as much as I hate the theory of him being dead forever. Maybe that's what happens. Maybe that whole Meenah/Karkat thing is going to actually going to happen since he dies. We'll just wait and see i guess.
 
I'm not sure the hemospectrum's influence on power-match-ups is as big as you think. I mean Kanaya is of lower birth than Terezi, and she managed to kill two other guys that were born higher than Vriska.

I never really got the impression that Vriska is especially strong anyways. Vriska's shtick is that she's super lucky and knows how to bend the rules in her favor. This makes her seem much more battle proficient than she actually is. Like, if you compared her to an RPG character, I think her stats would be fairly average, but it doesn't seem that way because every one of her attacks turns into a critical hit.

If Vriska hadn't ascended to the god tiers, I wager she and Terezi would be about evenly matched. And even with the added bonus of being a god, it doesn't seem like it makes you any less likely to succumb to a pierced heart/stomach. The god part only gives you a chance of actually getting back up again after you died.

So I'm not sure the logic behind "Terezi < Vriska, so since Vriska died, Terezi is doomed by default" quite holds up.

So the latest Paradox Space has been including trigger warnings for implied rape. I get where they're coming from, but it seems kind of strange to me because it doesn't seem like something the main comic would do. That one part where Vriska lured Tavros to her hive already felt to me like a rape scene, even if there wasn't anything in it that was actually sexual.
 
wait since when does homestuck actually care about triggers

i thought they made fun of triggers with kankri in that flash
