I can't say for certain it was Andrew's intent, but either to keep the comic relatively SFW or to keep troll sexuality a mystery, he wouldn't have been able to actually portray an on-screen rape, so it feels to me like he settled for the next best thing, which is to have her forcefully kiss him while he's in a vulnerable position and clearly not enjoying himself. Then the mind control comes along and wow I didn't even remember that part. Wow.

I wouldn't make it akin to rape, just weird unreciprocated teenage romance shit. Which is kind of what the trolls are all about anyways.
 
I'll have you know that I'm the expert on metaphorical but not literal rape scenes because I read Dracula and that had one.



The saddest part is how every adaptation since the Francis Ford Coppola version now insists on having an actual romance between those two characters

I didn't think of Vriska luring Tavros to her place was rapey, seeing as she was absolutely clueless that Tavros might not reciprocate: she genuinely thought he'd like her dressing up as a fairy and throwing herself at him. It was when she realized he wasn't into it and briefly started using her mind powers to force him to try to kiss her that she started to cross the morality line, but she didn't go through with it - unlike her ancestor, whom she's always idolized and wanted to emulate, adding another level of interestingness to the scene once you find out about those Mindfang/Dolorosa parallels/contrasts.
 
It's not her intent that does or doesn't make it (still metaphorical) rape. It's defined by what the victim wants or doesn't want. A lot of rapists in real life don't see what they're doing as rape, but they still get the same treatment from the law as people who knowingly rape.
 
welp, i've made it to the intermission again

kinda hard to believe how short the first three acts are in comparison to how stupidly huge act 6 was
 
so there's an update on the game
basically:

-there may be two games, if the first one does well
-both will be able to stand alone and don't have much to do with each other, besides the central concept
-the concept is that a human and a troll swap places (human on alternia, troll on earth) and try to get back home
-this takes place before homestuck, but won't be a backstory game
-the first game is called Hiveswap
-the games will be released episodically, to get content out quicker
 
i'm still mad that they didn't just make a sburb game, i mean that would have been so cool

...

but i didn't contribute any money or anything so i'm not that mad

I'd take that as an actual example of terrifying, rapey shit opposed to Vriska's awkward coming-onto-Tavros.
 
oh god i just reached the trickster bullshit aka where i stopped reading homestuck so literally everything minus S Game Over will be new for me

the only redeeming thing is the scrolling assortment of food items from kirby

so we saw... half of gamzee. and the other half is cut off by the frame. so he's still alive, somewhat

so it does seem as if this may be what turns him into lord english? i hope not, because that feels kinda cheap.
 
Well, at one point he was shown burping out "Pure Art", like how LE spits out the blasts of dream-bubble-breaking energy. He was also shown sorta hunching dejectedly one panel which reminded me of LE's stance, and could possibly be foreshadowing as well.

And he has to grow up and become LE at some point, so the start of dark(er)ness could easily be now. It also just occurred to me that something/someone said that Jake was the one who deals Caliborn his first defeat, but Jake and John look so similar, perhaps the prediction got the name wrong...

But mostly, I think that whatever happens next will involve Jade and Calliope's stage show, as their stage (which just appeared in the void, and was from neither of their memories) looks just like what Caliborn's blueprints were of. Caliborn's always talking about wanting to be the cause of everything, so perhaps the next stage is literally the stage, and making people act out his Homosuck stories. And then he moves on to being the reason for everything in Homestuck happening.
 
Ok i finally caught up so S Game over makes sense now....or as much sense as you can make of homestuck. I really missed a lot in the 8 months I stopped reading (Technically like a year and a half, but im not going to count the gigapause). Glad Tavros still has a role in the story even though he kinda just fucked off in his most recent appearance...hope he comes back. :'(

and i'll admit, while i dont really like caliborn he is somewhat amusing, i think it's just the punchable face
 
Okay, so now I think we've got four potential candidates for who will destroy LE.

Jake, based on Aranea's speculation/hope powers

John, cause he's got retcon powers/main character privileges

Vriska of course thinks she'll get to do it

Dave could count cause of his pimpslayer title I guess, unless there are any other pimps I don't know about
 
if it's only one person to kill lord english, it won't be vriska, unless her plan to kill him has some negative consequence. same thing with dave, i guess. dave's whole purpose in this story is to be a tragic hero, and it does seem like a lot of things are leading up to him killing lord english
