The Official AH NEE MAY Topic

Shokugeki no Souma has really started picking up now that it has a story arc to follow. Today's episode was really good. Next episode should be great, it was my favourite moment from this arc. I think this was the point where they decided they didn't necessarily need the ecchi to sell so the foodgasms became way better (the majority are ecchi though, no mistake) and the story became more engaging/interesting. It all gets better from here.

I may have judged the anime too harshly to begin with but to be fair those first few episodes weren't that great, it might be a Shirobako type of situation where it starts slow and becomes more amazing with time. It has that potential at least.

i just finished watching endless eight from haruhi in what was basically one sitting
uggggggggggggh my brain hurts now
IT JUST KEPT HAPPENING
whoever thought that eight episodes in a row which are virtually the same would be good should be fired
That sounds terrible, I can't imagine watching it in one sitting. Maybe that's why I thought Endless Eight wasn't that bad, because I didn't subject myself to that kind of torture.

Srsly though, what was the main complaint?
The main complaint is this: I don't care. I find none of the characters interesting, I couldn't care that they were being eaten alive. Plus this is an anime for adults and they never show people get eaten. Dragon Ball Z is an anime for kids AND adults, yet it showed Piccolo performing a special kameyameya wave through Goku's chest, some sexual activity, and a psycho alien chick blowing her fucking brains out! And what does Attack on Titan, an anime for adults have? The sound of people getting eaten, and cutting to people running just as soon as a titan opens its mouth just so we don't have to see the travesty at all...yay.

iirc there's people getting eaten in the very second episode, but okay

i can understand why you wouldnt care for the characters, but i at least found them fitting for the purpose of the series

No, I'm a guy who doesn't care much about how cool an action scene looks or how bloody a scene looks, I want to care for characters. I just thought I'd point out that it's an anime geared towards adults and it doesn't really take any risks

welp jojos part 3 ended and im at a loss what i should watch next

hmmm

Not all adult animation is Ralph Bakshi or South Park.

well its rated 16+ here which excludes young teens but id probably say the target demographic is around 16 to mid 20

welp finished rewatching fist of the north star like the 5th time not too long ago

an anime that inspired it all

convinced walkazo to wath md geist.

It's an important movie

Yahari ended, I don't know how far it got into Vol11 it got but it's an unfinished story as expected. Commie made the intro ten times better.

It was a great episode compared to the last two. Annoying ending for someone that doesn't want to wait until the season 3 that probably won't happen, good ending for anyone else that is keeping up with the source material.

Shokugeki was good again as well. The past few episodes have been great, this one included. More Erina moments are always welcome considering that she sort of becomes irrelevant for a while.

At about three in the morning I decided to try the free! dub since the first episode was out and I wanted to see how horrible it was as everyone was saying it was horrible.
It was horrible, it was like free!: the no-homo dudebro edition, I think I was most annoyed with Haruka's entire characterisation in the dub (as it was NOTHING like how he acts in the sub... like I got so pissed they changed his 'the water is alive' speech) and Rin's voice.
Eh... I don't know if I will want to suffer enough to watch the rest... I will probably watch the Australia episode as I am fascinated to see how it is handled in the dub.
