in which bryan admits that book two sucks

like i'm sorry but if you don't have an explanation as to what jinora did then that is just bad storytelling

platinum games?? korra??? is this a prank?????

I still don't have high hopes for the game. The TLA games were all really bad.

Mike and Bryan didn’t intend on making Aang look like a terrible parent. It was more about how Kia and Bumi interpreted Aang’s constant absence, which was due to the fact that Aang was the Avatar. Aang ended up taking Tenzin around the world because, as the second-to-last-airbender, he had the best chance of carrying on his legacy and keeping his culture going. Aang simply had a tough time finding balance in all of the duties he had on his plate. The idea that Aang is a terrible father is an extremely exaggerated interpretation.
yeah fuck you aang is a terrible father :bowser: :bowser: :bowser:

It's being developed by Platinum Games, aka the people from Clover Studios, who have created such titles as Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Viewtiful Joe, all of which are fucking awesome action games.

MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED

KORRA IS STARTING TO SUCK LESS

It's still got a long way to go, of course. I don't like that they're going for another Dai Lee conspiracy theory plot, because it feels like a repeat of TLA Book 2. And there are still other flaws of logic, like how that bender can use water for arms. But whatever, it's progress.

what

i just watched episode 1 and it seemed to be the same old shit

*korra saves peoples' lives*

everyone: WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU KORRA

*korra saves more peopels lives*

everyong: GOD JESUS CHRIST KORRA YOU SUCK

How is it a Dai Lee plot?
It's just a coalition of particularly powerful, specialized benders (like Combustion Man and Hama) finally coming together as a group.
Also since Waterbending means you can change the temperature of the water you're bending on a whim, I figure she's turning the contact points into ice so that she can grip it. Just a theory.[/quote]

Pretty good start. The villains seem promising, Asami's already had more A-plot focus in three episodes than she did pretty much during all of season 2, we're out of Republic City...

And the portals restoring the balance is a good way to get more airbenders in the series. I don't care much about the thief kid yet, and Jinora still doesn't feel central cast-worthy to me, but ah well. Zuzu's back and being awesome, and glad to see Desna and Eska again - dunno if they'll stick around once their prisoner gets out, but ah well, it's better than nothing. Now all that's needed is for Lin to show up and start kicking some ass.

Just got to watch the three episodes. Off to a good start so far.

Loving these new villains. I like the idea of an anti-team avatar. The Dai Li are back and up to no good. I know some people are thinking this will be a retread of Avatar Book 2, but that season was awesome so I don't mind. Love that Asami's getting some more attention (Shipping Korrasami now, make it happen). Love having Zuko back. One thing that stood put to me is that Zuko mentioned that Unalaq had a hand in setting up the prison. If even Unalaq felt this bender needed to be heavily locked up, she's gonna be a big threat. Also cool to have the twins back. The exchange in the elevator was funny.

I love seeing Bolin and Mako meet their family. Also, having Bolin trying to be the big brother figure is just adorable. I hope the kid ends up changing for the better.

Why does it seem every authority figure in this show is either corrupt or ignorant?

The thief kid does seem kinda stupid. Like, we already know what's going to happen to him. Was he only added to be Jinora's love interest?

But it does have a more promising start than Season 2. I, for one, didn't care about the spirit stuff. Political intrigue! Yay!

Now I'm confused what the point of the Republic of Nations was in the first place. If the nations are still self-ruling, why would they bother making a centralised government? What power does Republic City even have if, say, the Earth Queen decides to invade?

some thoughts

-kai has to be sokka's grandson
-the art direction bothers me. the color palette and lighting stuff is cool but there's too much unnecessary use of 3d animation that makes it look really weird
-it looks like airbending is now only usable in adrenaline rushes, like how korra got her airbending powers. i guess, you know, connecting with your spiritual side and intense training aren't necessary anymore
-they better explain why people are getting powers (portals being open doesn't really mean anything) and why only those people are getting airbending
-why are vines taking over republic city? i thought they just opened the portals, not combine the two worlds. spirits are rude
-president of republic city sucks at diplomacy
-korra sucks at diplomacy
-everyone in this show sucks at diplomacy jfc
-kai/jinora is unnecessary and gross. they're like, what, 10 at the most?
-they brought up the love triangle briefly with asami and korra and i hope that doesn't happen ever again
-mako has kinda been in and out this season but when he does get character development i think it'll be good
-the conversation between korra and tenzin at the beginning of this season was really nice. i think it's the first time korra has emptied her feelings and hasn't come off to me as whiny
-they're saying that the avatar is no longer necessary in this new world, but judging from the past two seasons, that's not true...?
-political and spiritual changes are coming, basically. it all depends on where they take this season

I see the Kai/Jinora thing more as a small crush. You know, like little kids. No serious romantic tension going on there. Also, I'm pretty sure Unavatuu created those vines, not the spirits.

kai/jinora is still dumb and there's no reason to include it in the show besides the chance of another shipping opportunity for the fandom

did they explicitly say unavatuu created those vines? either way, the spirits obviously don't seem to care about them

I'm pretty sure the narrator said it in the recap before the first episode. We also see him creating the vines at the end of Season 2.

It was to avoid war following the failure of the Harmony Restoration Movement (the HRM is covered in The Promise, I think).

Republic City used to be governed by representatives of (and has a population composed of people from) all four nations, so for the ruler of any one nation (e.g. the Earth Queen) to invade it would be considered a declaration of war against the nations of which the ruler is not a part.

^Not to mention that Yakone proves you don't need hands to bend.
