i really shouldn't bother trying to bring logic into a series where people can control the elements with martial arts moves

but using water for arms would be pointless for holding onto much. freezing it into ice would probably make it too heavy to hold anything, and if you're swinging from beams like that person in the recent episode did, the impact would shatter the ice (and also you wouldn't have any friction, that's another thing)

I'm pretty sure that people who control these elements can alter the composition and behavior of the elements to suit their needs.

It will be over about the first week of August, then. I wonder if a similar thing will happen for book 4. As for whether or not it's rushed, it is on the Friday night death slot. They're not going to cancel it, but book 2 probably didn't impact the network's ratings as much as hoped.

It's a shame stuff like this happens yet Nick feels the need to marathon Spongebob every other night. I think part of this is due to the leaks, which I understand. But the leaks only went up to episode six. After that, you can go back to the regular pace.

It's not as extreme as the entire fourth season of Arrested Development being released at the same time. Afaik, that was done in response to how people often take in shows as Netflix/DVD marathons these days, rather than the more traditional one-episode-at-a-time method. I feel like the thinking behind rapidly doling out the new Korra episodes might be similar: they know everyone wants to dig into the new season, and they've got it done, so rather than sitting on it, they're movin' it. Hell, even Avatar: The Last Airbender gave up the gradual-release game at the end and gave us the final four episodes all at once (or at least they did in Canada).

Or they're doing it so that it doesn't spill over once the summer ends and force them to work the fall lineup around it, but that's a more cynical take of it.

Episode 4 and 5 just aired.

Yes! We're starting to learn about Lin's backstory. Not a fan of bitchy in thpugh. She's acting like such a jerk. Why do you do this to Naga? We'll probably find out more in the coming episodes. I need to know about the family drama! Hoping we find out who the fathers for Lin and her sister are. Also, Toph may still be alive. I think we may see her in Book 4.

I want to know the motive behind our villains. My theory is that they were the ones who killed Aang. They seem to hate the avatar, were locked up by Aang's friends, and they want to kill Korra too. I'm probably wrong, but t's just an idea. Also notice that Sokka was one of the ones who imprisoned the four (yay Sokka name drop)? Notice how he's not around anymore? I wouldn't be surprised if Zaheer killed him as well.

Fight scenes were good, but I hope this isn't the last we see of Zuko and the twins. Unfortunately, all the Zuko scenes from the trailer have already been seen. Still holding out though.

I think the Earth King is likely to hold a grudge. She did just theaten to declare war on korra. We'll just have to see where that leads. On that note, the Dai LI, catacombs, and Lake Laogai got me really nostalgic. It was like Avatar Book 2 all over again.

Opal X Bolin. I guarantee there will be fanart by the time I wake up tomorrow.

Also, MOTHERFUCKING VARRICK!

There seems a better balance between the overall story arcs and the specific episodic goings on in this season (unlike season 2, which just careened headlong from show to show more often than not). Also...

Woo Lin! Woo Varrick! Woo Toph being alive! Woooo!

It'd be cool if she makes an entrance during a fight with the evil Team Avatar. In the meantime, I hope Korra and the gang will stay in metal city for a couple episodes. Like how they were in Ba Sing Se for only a bit: not too short, not too long, just the right amount to feed the interest/nostalgia (love the Lake Laogai memories) and keep the plot rolling. Anyway, I feel like we won't find out who Toph's baby daddies were, but to me, that's a good thing: it seems like Toph's style to raise her girls alone and not even feel it was worth telling them who helped her make 'em.

I feel like it's very plausible that the evil team killed Aang: they tried to kidnap Korra soon after she had been identified, so maybe they wanted to raise her as their own personal Avatar, for one reason or another - but obviously that ship's sailed now, so their new plan would be to kill her like Aang, thus forcing the cycle along again and giving them another chance to get the next baby Avatar.

The only downside... I miss Mako's scarf.

You now how in the premiere Bolin made that joke about finding his grandmother? He ended that joke with "then she dies". Well, they did meet their grandmother.

Please don't die.

Well, Mako would get the scarf back then...

Maybe the evil queen will have it delivered after she kidnaps their big ol' family as a way to try to get to Korra.

Maybe Azula is The Earth Queen's military adviser.

I can see The Earth Queen trying to wage war on Republic City. Korra would come in and try to settle the dispute between the Queen and President Raiko.

the first episode had WAY too much fighting and not enough plot development

i'm very, very happy to see that jinora is using that power again. you know, the one that the writers couldn't explain but said the fans could come up with explanations for it. and of course, despite that power being incredibly useful, they're not going to use it at all unless there's no other way they can find the information they need

kai suddenly seems unimportant, though of course we've still got jinora/kai for the shipping fans. even though they're already like 9 they're kissing. whatever. and oh boy, another ship! bo lin/opal. for no reason at all, they're forcing the comic relief guy into a stale love plot. and let us not forget whoever was kissing on the anti-team avatar

backstory on toph is greatly appreciated even though they keep teasing us without really saying anything. lin better have another reason for being so cold-hearted. anyway, the first time we saw her sister, she had sokka's bands on. gonna bet her father is sokka

my sister was annoyed that they keep pausing for bad one-liners and stuff when they should really be escaping

kinda pissed that korra is teaching opal how to do airbending when korra refused to listen to those techniques herself. how does she even know them??

and meanwhile, they keep slipping in "change" in the dialog.

okay not really but one never gives up the opportunity to quote the princess bride

That's part of Korra maturing as a character. She's trying to be wise and a teacher. She probably learned them off-screen between Book 1 and 2.

Haven't quite dropped in quite a bit. But I'll try to be short as I can be about this. Part of the reason I haven't posted though is because I missed the day of the premiere. But I did manage to find all three episodes online and also saw the previous two that aired last Friday.

It's an interesting beginning to be sure. The four bad guys who seems to be really good at each of the known bending arts could potentially be an excellent group of baddies.

It's also cool to know that now not only is Katara still alive, but Zuko is as well, and there's hints that Toph is somewhere out there as well.

The people becoming Airbenders are kinda interesting. It's good to see how happy Tenzin was when the prisoners agreed to come with them to become Air Nomads.

They are kind of including quite a bit of romance already. What with Jinora/Kai and Bolin/Opal. They also had two of the bad guys show love for eachother, but I think it's nice that for once it's a villain couple instead of just the heroes.

I am curious at just what is Lin's problem in regards to her family. So I'll be sure to see how that goes.

It's cool that we're getting an hour episodes. Though it does seem rather like they're just trying to get Korra out of the way so they can go back to airing the usual crap they have going. They never re-run Korra episodes after all. Not a big deal. But it kinda feels that way.

If Toph is still alive, that means she can finally go on a 'life changing field trip' with Zuko

It really pisses me off the way Nick handles Korra. I guess if it doesn't have constant bathroom jokes then it's not considered good enough. I also heard Nock was hesitant to have a female protagonist.

A little detail i noted in the latest episodes.
When Jinora is in her spirit form and is searching for Kai, did anyone notice that she visited the room that Jet died in?

I think I did see some things familiar. Like even with some of the battle damage left in the fights with the Dai Li and the Gaang in the original. Actually this reminds me. This may be a bit of a nitpick but I have something to ask...

How exactly was Ba Sing Se allowed to keep the Dai Li after not only was it's leader corrupt and was used for corrupt reason. The Dai Li essentially allied with the Fire Nation during the War? I understand that maybe the Dai Li wasn't always like this. But shouldn't there had been a goal of making the Dai Li less controlling then it was during the last years of the war that the original series covered?

It feels almost like the Avatar equivalent of allowing Germany to keep the Gestapo after World War II

Did anyone outside of the higher ups in the Earth Kingdom even know about the Dai Li, or at least their true nature? Considering how shady it is, the Earth Queen could have easily brought it back. The Earth King was being manipulated while the Earth Queen intentionally has them like this.

I was under the impression that the Earth Queen was the highest authority in the kingdom.

Episode 4 and 5:
OK, guys, seriously? Seriously? Stop putting romance in TLOK. It's NEVER worked. Every time you put a romantic subplot, it detracts from the overall story. We've had Mako/Korra/Asami, Bolin/Eska, and now Bolin/Opal and Jinora/Kai. Please stop.

But, overall, these episodes were pretty good. I'm liking the villains a lot more. I want to know their motivation for kidnapping Korra. Were they trying to raise her to be evil or something? Toph's family has also been interesting. But surely Lin would accept this stuff. She's had seasons of character development, too.

And it looks like the Earth Queen is going to invade Republic City eventually. Terrific. The Avatar universe really needs some better authority figures, they're all corrupt.

ummmmmm speak for yourself

comic relief guy x crazy ice woman is my otp

Yeah

It made me sad when she broke it off in the end.

Really, I'd love to see more of the twins in general. Them, Bumi and that one episode about Wan were the best parts of last season.

I agree. I hope we see them a lot more.

As for current stuff, I wonder if there's going to be some kind of screening process/background check for new airbenders now that Zaheer was able to mingle among the others so easily. On a different note, I can't help feeling that Suyin is LOK's Earth King. There being no secrets in the city sounds no different from there being no war between the walls.

>show tells me toph is alive
>i don't get to see her

fucking cockteases. now every single episode i'll be distracted the whole time with "DO I GET TO SEE TOPH?"
