John Williams will score Episode 7.
Okay, at least the music will be good.

I don't know, I don't think I'll go see these movies. Unless they use Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command as the story arc.

I'd pay tons of money to see a movie made of those.

They won't be movies but they might be some of the spin-offs that have been mentioned.

Okay guys. We all know we've got a new trilogy coming soon.

However, Disney has appointed a group of writers to determine a new official canon.

This effectively wipes the entire EU from existence.

Disney can either nail it or fail it for Episode VII-IX. Here are my expectations:

-Reasonable acting
-Believable plot (nothing too crazy)
-More female characters (both trilogies did a bad job with this, as there was only 1 female lead.)
-Much less political discussion

I really don't get why people say Disney Star Wars in going to suck, I honestly think that this upcoming trilogy will much better than the last trilogy.

why? what does disney bring to the table that will make star wars better?

it's certainly not money, because lucas was not short of money.

It's probably not so much a question of what Disney brings to the table, but of how it would even be possible to produce something worse than the prequel trilogy.

I mean, to accomplish that you'd have to do something like... I don't know... have Han Solo dance around wearing elephant-shaped underpants while rotating and reading from the telephone book for two hours. Except that might actually still be better, idk.

hahaha
the only thing I liked about the prequels were the new species that appeared
and the droids

overall I preferred it aesthetically, but I think its plot was awful

I feel the same way about the star wars prequels compared to the original trilogy as I do about the third JP compared to the first two

probably the fact that lucas was shit in about every category, im sure it wouldnt take much to make the prequels look like a bad memory compared to the new stuff we will be getting.

i just hope we get some good star wars games out of it, i love star wars games.

Just having Lucas NOT directing is a step forward. He's a great writer, but he's a pretty shitty director. Too much micro managing and a terrible dialogue writer. The best dialogue in the original trilogy was when Lucas wasnt micro managing it, and the other director let the actors improvise.

The best writing for Star Wars has occurred when Lucas has taken a hands off approach and set the guidelines of the story and the universe, but letting other people craft the characters and settings.

"I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth."

As long as the dialogue isn't as bad as that, we should be good.

I agree with what was said earlier. Lucas needs to be more hands-off and let most of the directing fall to J.J. Abrams.

yeah lucas is great at developing the story and universe and cool technologies/aliens but not at dialogue

still, i don't really see how simply taking him away from directing will automatically make this a good movie. it could easily be just as terrible without lucas as episodes I and II were with him.

and plus disney is deleting the expanded universe. that alone is enough to make me suspicious of how well they're going to do on these movies.

i mean honestly how hard would it have been to do an adaptation of the thrawn trilogy. that would have been awesome.
