Unpopular opinions about the Mario series

i classify them as generic for the sole reason that a lot of koopas, lakitus, etc. have the same design in the main series

which seem generic, its not based on the original design, its based on how the other versions of them have the same design

and all i want is some rpg characters to be playable from time to time, sure the main characters such as mario and peach are great, but sometimes i just wish they'd mix it up a bit

But if the only thing that would be emphasized is physical appearance then them being ''generic'' within the context of the series means nothing.

Just like those people who say Nintendo is doomed, its a bs statement that has no backbone to it.

Hm...when Mario dies you know Nintendo's gonna go the way of Sega right?
Nah, they'll keep shelling out Mario games long after all the good stuff about it is long gone. I can already picture them releasing Brand New Super Mario Bros. 10: Featuring Green Toad!!!!

*sigh*

the point is i dont like they're common design, unlike other rpg characters of the same species which may only be merely modifications, but its something more interesting then the common enemy.

Besides, a physical appearance is almost everything for a character.

Often times people dont like a character just because of their design, so saying its meaningless is pretty laughable in its self.

huh wouldnt they have to ask alphadream/intelligent systems to put RPG characters in other spinoffs? its like the thing with square maybe that has to do with it

i guess, although it was quite surprising to see dry dry desert in a mk game as well as the star sprites in mp5.

So its possible but hasnt really been done.

I do think that Mario is a bit generic, but that's probably because I'm familiar with the series.

The only thing that is dying is Mario Party

actually i think mario party is about half-dead at this point

if it weren't for the really unspectacular board gameplay, it would have been at least decent. but since the really unspectacular board gameplay is a major part of the game, yeaaaaahhhh

Just the main series, Mario Party, Paper Mario, and arguably Mario Kart.
Eh, I'd argue only Mario Party.

The main series are stagnating and Mario Kart is still going strong.

If you want an example of stagnating convolution, but mostly stagnation, I'll turn you to Pokemon.

yeah from the looks of it mario party feels very....dead, lifeless, etc.

mario kart on the other hand is pretty awesome, or at least mk7 is and mk8 doesnt look too shabby either

main games i dunno

havent played a main mario game since like galaxy

Eh, some other platformers I've played kind of spoiled my expectations and views on Mario platformers.

My view on Mario platformers isn't really high anymore.

Mario platformers are just...solid

That's about it, really. If you know what you're gonna get, you'll love Mario platformers.

Otherwise, if you're expecting something entirely new and game-changing, good luck with that

Also, Mario vs. Donkey Kong needs a game like the first one again. :{

... but that's not really unpopular....

I agree so much on this. I loved the first Mario vs. DK and the only thing that saved the second one was the stage builder, but when all the other ones were like that I kinda lost interest.
