Eh, no 2D Mario beats Super Mario World for me.

Per, none of the other 2Ds even come close to being as good as World in my eyes.

I was pointing out best games in the franchise, not just 2D platformers. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door can also fit the bill in terms of Nintendo's fanbase, but the casual market says otherwise.
