Unpopular opinions about the Mario series

I don't like the remade Cheese Land and Ribbon Road. They don't resemble the older versions at all. At least SNES Donut Plains still somewhat resembled the original.

What does that make you think of N64 Rainbow Road?

N64 Rainbow Road still has the map's shape and theme there. Cheese Land's theme changed from mysterious cheesy planet with Little Mousers to a cheesy desert with Chain Chomps. Ribbon Road lost at least three major turns.

Rainbow Road still has the characters being celebrated in the sky and the general feeling of awe and accomplishment.

  • I love Sticker Star
  • I also like Kersti
  • I dislike Mario Vs Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem's levels because they're too easy. Tipping Stars and Minis on the Move have much better levels.
  • I love Super Mario Sunshine, as I am a hardcore gamer.
  • My favorite voice actor for Rosalina is Laura Faye Smith.
  • There are a few things I like about Pink Gold Peach, even though I still think she wasted a spot on the Mario Kart 8 roster
  • I would love to see or make a video of a real life crudely-designed Mini Mario replica getting attached to some sort of bomb, and exploding unless it's collector's merch (Like some old YouTube video called Exploding Elmo Death)

Super Mario Sunshine hardly qualifies as a "hardcore" game.

The definition of "hardcore" is really shaky and blurred so idk I wouldn't debate would it qualify as.

Hardcore gamers are the type of gamers who care about challenge in games, unlike casual gamers. That's what I mean by "hardcore"

And Super Mario Sunshine is known for being difficult, and would be considered to be an experience for hardcore gamers.

I like challenge but only when it's well designed challenge, IMO Sunshine's most challenging parts are due to really unpredictable (probably barely playtested) physics rather than reasonable tests of skill.

Glitchy pachinko machine.

In an RPG, having all the NPCs be toads isn't a problem if they're written well. It would be nice if they at least looked different, but it's not necessary for the game to be good.

Mario looks better in red overalls than he does in blue.

I s'pose you like him in Fire form then.

I think it applies to all Mario games, not just the RPGs.

I think I kinda liked it a little better back when Paper Mario and Regular Mario were the essentially the same Mario instead of Paper Jam making Paper Mario a alternate universe counterpart.

See, I'd argue that your opinion is the popular one there, and its inverse is unpopular.

It's only one game. I think Paper Mario is Mario outside of Paper Jam still.

Hey, they might still be the same guy, you've seen Mario, Tanooki Mario, Baby Mario and Metal Mario all in Mario Kart 8.

I've just found out that apparently this is unpopular, but my favourite Rainbow Road is the Wii one and my least favourite one is the 3DS one on a par with the SNES one.

Jesus, disliking the 3DS Rainbow Road is pretty unpopular.

I like to believe Metal Mario is his own character, but yeah, Paper Mario never stopped Tanooki Mario or Mario Bros. in general from existing.

I'm on par with this opinion! Coconut Mall is kinda bad honestly. Especially those cars at the end, man.

As for me, though, I like Grumble Volcano, especially the MK8 version. Also, kinda unexpected, but I actually like playing as Isabelle for some reason. And I play mainly as Link.

I never understood the appeal of Coconut Mall's BGM. It always has the most or one of the most views/downloads of Mario Kart Wii BGMs.

I like Coconut Mall, so eh.
