Unpopular opinions about the Mario series

Actually I disagree on some things. Call the artstyle uncreative all you want, but it was certainly done to convey a feeling of being in a new dimension, so it was done well, Bowser is the worst playable character in the game, although Peach is not off the hook herself, Chapter 2 wasn't exactly tedious besides ONE part, although it was lackluster and the old battle system wouldn't work with a side-scroller, and as such, it's actually ok to have them be linear in the style of going from A to B, and badges too wouldn't really be as useful as they would be in the older games. Lastly, doesn't mean if Pixls are all the same and don't talk after their introduction that they're inferior to partners. In fact, I think they're better: you consider them as items and therefore don't need development, while partners are actual characters whose personalities are just not that fleshed out and leave much to be desired. But that's just my opinion.

Of course, maybe its original characters are a bit overrated but that doesn't mean I find them bad, and tbh Bleck is better than Dimentio by a long shot (in fact, Dimentio is pretty stupid), and besides the story, Chapter 6 is the worst. And I highly agree that the bosses are for the most part, disappointing, especially BoneChill.

How the heck is Bowser the worst character in the game?

His double damage kills everything in seconds.

imo I don't think the art style is uncreative, I find it just extremely jarring, inconsistent, and hideous.

Yes, it can work in a side-scroller. Child of Light is an RPG side-scroller that has you traveling in the overworld and battle enemies as you encounter them, and additionally has some action-command like elements in its gameplay.

Additionally, how a battle system functions isn't directly correlated to the linearity of the game, they're two separate elements.

Badges are one of the key things of Paper Mario that makes it stand out among other RPGs so their absence of customization options is extremely jarring.

The thing is, people did see them as partners because they acted as replacements and had some lines of dialogue when you first collect them. I think it's natural for people to expect them to be as such when you earn them, and I don't blame them one bit for being disappointed in what they (and reveals what the partners are to an extent) are: talking tools. I think it would be so much better if Pixls actually had a personality and developed through the game. Tippi could talk just fine, for example.

Badges could easily work in a 2D platformer action rpg.

I've seen other platformer rpgs do it in the past with similar ideas.

Eh, just my own shitty opinion on the game, y'know.

Well those aren't allowed. You must now commit yourself to 30 years of hard labor.

You can have your shitty opinion as long as you hold the following

1. Isabelle is terrible
2. Super Paper Mario is lame.
3. Baby Luigi is the best character.

I guess I can live with the second one, but...

Ummm... why is this thread called "Unpopular opinions" again?

But you know, that opinion doesn't matter much to me anyway, because I'm not in love with the game or anything. In fact, if I could trade it with any other Paper Mario it would be Color Splash, but I just am an overall easy-going person when it comes to games, so you won't see me complain about things everyone complains about.

Bowser is the worst character in the game, yes, but not necessarily bad. But he's just a bit too slow for my tastes.

I'm probably the complainer type, hahahaha. Already having my issues with Smash Ultimate. :P

Only 18 days left, Koops...

18... long... I mean... 18 days...

And you'll get to beat the crap out of Ridley using only a fishing rod and party poppers.

Do it on Brinstar Depths too, for maximum loliness at that juxtaposition.

This isn't even an opinion, this is a literal fact.

Let's run away from Koops now, I think that's a good idea.

You know what actually is a literal fact?

The fact that you are both dying the 20th of December.

I think Mario should be celebrated for the character, and not just from Super Mario Bros. What I mean is, his anniversary is based on 1981, and not 1985 because that makes people assume that Mario started in 1985, when that's not the case. It's not like Donkey Kong the game is all that obscure, because it's a game that made Nintendo famous as a video game developer. It's just that Mario needs to be celebrated from his origin compared to the game that introduced his most iconic elements.

Unpopular opinion (ESPECIALLY with a certain Shy Guy): MKWii is one of the more "ehhh" MK games.

It's interesting because Mario Kart Wii is the best-selling Mario Kart game, even selling better than Mario Kart DS. Therefore to a lot of people it's not the worst and I even say that some players even prefer how this game's rushed state is even preferable for some people because the glitches allowed people to do all sort of stuff unintended by the developers.

For me, I thought the tracks are kind of straight-forward. For example, Mario Circuit in Wii is probably the simplest looking layout among Mario Karts, even more than Mario Circuit for the SNES (only because it has 4 versions).

Thank you for reading.

That's not unpopular. Most people would call it the worst 3D Mario Kart, so...

Seriously? That's really surprising. Almost everyone I know likes it as much as, if not more than, MK8.

She shouldn't have attempted a terribly-executed d-air while I was in the middle of using the Bomber to blow up. It's on her.

You DID post it by quoting my post though, so I had to take it you really wanted to tickle my Izzy bone.

I like Wrecking Crew. Visuals are sort of bland and dated but everything else is fine.

I don't even know how unpopular that is because no one ever talks about this game. A reboot or something would be cool.
