Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Yeah that's the case with most Mario RPGs I think.

That game didn't let you save after beating Bowser, so of course the NPCs in PM64 acted like you hadn't beaten because according to the game's memory, you hadn't. Same applies to M&L: Superstar Saga, Super Mario World and Super Mario 64.

Partners in Time too, but the game lampshaded it

BIS also

And SM64 didn't let me get off of the cake screen D:

I turned off the game since I thought my A button broke

In what way?

Well, you can save in the last sequences of the game, but Stuffwell lets you go all the way back before you fought Princess Shroob. So it technically explains the never-ending game.

Just got it and played it for about an hour now.

Not sure why this game is getting a bad rap. I'm quite enjoying it so far actually. (of course, only did the first little goal thing, so we'll see).

Has that same Paper Mario humor that I love. And I like how the Toads and such act actually like paper.

Couple annoying things I've seen so far (like sorting your sticker book) but I'm still enjoying it (not as much as the other 3 games, but than again, it's a handheld game)

but the giant goat made it better than the others by default

Okay, I played some at my friends and I realized how easy of a game it is.

Have you not been reading the previous posts in this thread? The game's "getting a bad rap", not only because of Miyamoto outright throwing away so many things that the first three games have established, but his reasons for doing so were hypocritical. He complained about the Paper Mario 3DS build being "a port of the Gamecube game" (which came out eight years ago), and yet he sees no problem whatsoever with all the New Super Mario Bros. rehashes; one of them which came out in less than three years, and the next within a span of a few months. Sure, those games are mostly Tezuka's doing, but you don't see Miyamoto meddling with those games, and telling the developers to change things because of them being too similar to previous games. That is a prime example of double standards.

Just 2 Days until I can play this game.

I'll get to find out if it's really as bad as people say. Which I highly doubt but we'll see.

I wasn't going to say this at first, but I've had the game for two weeks now (only because of the Club Nintendo offer regarding Donkey Kong: Original Edition), and as much as I'd hate to admit it, it's not an outright terrible game. It had some pretty creative gameplay ideas, and it did recycle some trends that were started in some of the first three games but at the same time, I still consider it to be the weakest installment in the Paper Mario series. Again, this is coming from someone who not only thoroughly enjoyed Super Paper Mario, but has beaten it several times.

Then don't just complain about a game you never played again.

So what? I think a lot of people are still mad over dumb things like "oh they didn't have partners".

It's still a good game. (Just as Super Paper Mario was. I enjoyed that game very much, but people hated it because they removed RPG style and other stuff like that.)

I do admit, there ARE some flaws with this game, but there are also many improvements.

To me, all though some people don't say so, it feels exactly like a Paper Mario game should. Funny humor, REAL paper elements this time, RPG battle style, open environment....

I think some of the major problems people have is that enemies don't give you anything but coins so they're almost pointless, there isn't chapters but instead stages, there's no leveling up and no partners. Probably missed stuff, these are just the things I think people wouldn't like if they were humongous paper Mario fans.

I don't think they'll be a problem for me honestly.

In the past I have but I know it's just a stupid thing to do. Also please quote what I posted.

I've already said several times in this thread that it was far more than just the lack of partners that people had an issue with. Even if that was the case, people had every right to complain about that, since the E3 demo had originally presented itself as a welcome-back return to the original formula, and then they ended up getting removed for such a BS reason, which was because of it being too similar to Thousand-Year Door, which is what people wanted in the first place.

WHAT. They just say that all the big games are for PS3 and XBox 360 but they are all to do with Blood and Killing.

I agree with everything you said there. I still like some things in the game though like some of the Sticker powerups.

I wasn't directing that comment to you in particular, just a lot of people I've seen.

That was a horrible post, changed a lot since then.

The thing is, the game is no longer a Paper Mario game. It doesn't feel like a Paper Mario game.
