Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Practically all of the Pixls were useless except maybe the Hammer guy and Carrie. They were used like Zelda dungeon items.

Half the Pixls were only used like twice or thrice anyways. Slim, Dottie if you didn't care about shopping at Itty Bits, and Piccolo come to mind. I guess Dashell could be considered useless as well, but I used him to get around Flopside and Flipside much faster.
Slim is used all of Merlee's Mansion minus 2-1, Dottie is used all over the caveman place for the fortress, Slim is used for quite a few other levels, so yeah. But Piccolo was kind of useless except for removing status conditions, and the Underwhere Chain Chomp.

I much preferred Pixls to no partners at all.
Yeah, I mean, even though the Pixl's had zero to do with anything other than their powers after they were introduced, at least they had SOME personality hinted at. Not to mention, I suppose you could also count Peach, Bowser, and Luigi as partners in that game...

I got this game yesterday, I've played it up until W2-3, and I have some questions. First off, is it really worth your time fighting all of these enemies? From what I've seen, fighting only yields coins, health and the occasional sticker, which you could have gotten by other means, anyway. And since there is no experience system, subsequently meaning you don't gain any experience by fighting enemies — I feel that battling is pointless in this game. That and you just waste stickers every turn you want to do something, which is the dumbest thing ever. And what's with the fact that they don't provide tutorials or similar things for you if you want to train a specific battle command? Because I'd definitely like to have something like that.

Kersti made a comment about how I wasn't being effective about my sticker usage after having beaten the first boss. Is there really a way you can make your sticker usage more effective? Because if there is, please let me know.

I've heard the scissors are quite effective against them and yes I do agree that there is not a lot of point the battle enemies.

So converting the things into rare stickers is the way to go? That doesn't sound very strategic to me.

hes right, you have to use a specific thing sticker to defeat most of the bosses

or you could turn the game off and never turn it back on again. save yourself

Yeah, I thought that having no tutorials was very dumb.

And apparently every boss is weak to a certain Thing sticker from the same world. Otherwise, it's nearly impossible to kill them. (except for the boss of World 5, for some reason he was the easiest one...) Really lame.

You know what I think I'll just get this game and play TTYD the rest of the time anyway.

... How exactly are you meant to figure this out? Does the game explicitly tell you, or is it just a bunch of guesswork? In case that it's the latter, that's pretty god damn dumb.

From what I heard, you're just supposed to throw a bunch of random stickers and hope they work in this game.

The game will tell you that you need something, but it won't tell you exactly what you need, and it certainly won't tell you where to find it.

As far as Thing stickers go, pretty much.

So what then, battling doesn't even matter?
Pretty much, just as the first three games apparently didn't matter in the least to Miyamoto.

Lame.

I really think this game will be A BIT enjoyable, but I don't think it's gonna beat the other three games.

Yeah, it sucks to not know the bosses' weaknesses.

That's what the STRATEGY GUIDE is for!

Megasparkle Goomba - Scissors + Fan combo when all 16 are showing
Tower Power Pokey - Bat when the entire body is there
Gooper Blooper - Sponge when he's ready to spit poison
Mizzter Blizzard - Anything related to fire (Fire Flowers, Burnhammers, Radiator...)
Petey Piranha - Squirt Gun, at least when he's tipped over
Bowser - First Thumbtack, then Eekhammer + Hair Shears, then Shaved Ice + Bellows combo, then Tail.

Yeah, that pissed me off, too! I remember someone responded to me complaining about lack of EXP., but I can't really remember... Not to mention, thank GOD someone also had a problem with the action commands. Like, they give you NOT in-game instructions on what to do, and the fact that there are so many stickers means you basically have to use trial and error to figure out what does what, and how you go about doing more damage. There are STILL stickers that I have no idea how to get an "Excellent" for... Like the Eekhammer, no freaking clue what to do there...

Also, Kersti's a jerk. Supposedly, someone I talked to said she gets better later on, but somehow I seriously doubt that.

I wish that the next paper mario is seriously A REAL PAPER MARIO.

WITH EXP AND PARTNERS AND GRINDING AND BADGES AND THE LIKE!

better fill out those club nintendo surveys, then.

If that's what it'll take, I'll gladly do it. Especially since I registered a Club Nintendo account the other day. But still... I can't believe Miyamoto actually entertained the thought of those surveys speaking for the entire fanbase.

Some of the hints are vague, but others are fairly obvious.

Tower Power Pokey starts off with a "Play Ball" and the arena is shaped like a baseball stadium.
The Sponge is first covered in poison when you get it.
Mizzter Blizzard is a snowman, so just use Pokemon logic (fire is strong against ice).

By the way, the Thing Stickers that are strong against the bosses are found in the same world, aside from the final boss obviously.

too late, i already replied with just "mario" in everything :mario:

Exactly what is required to make a Club Nintendo account?
It's free. All you need is an e-mail to sign-up. You register your games and you get coins by registering them. You can use the coins to buy rewards and stuff.

At least he listens to the fans, even if a lot of their ideas are shit.

I was wondering. Does every boss require you to use a specific sticker like using the scissors against Bowser Jr, or are you allowed some flexibility in your strategies?
