Pancham4lyfe

but pick up a scrafty on the route that they appear so that you can evolve it.

welp i just beat the champion and such.

Was kinda easy, but i was somehow overleveled.

I blame the exp share.

Overall though the music got really awesome near the end, so thats great.

I thank that thing for getting me through the game. Less incredibly boring grinding (though there may have been more encounters with trainers/the "bad guys" compared to Gen V).

Just picked up X a little under an hour ago, and finally have made the decision to select Chespin as my starter and name it Stephen. Let's do this.

I don't mind being overpowered. I too am also thankful for the exp share.

It makes raising Pokemon easier, so that it's not like "omg, it's going to take forever to raise all my Pokemon". Plus, it really helps keep your Pokemon about at the same level, so that you aren't always feeling the need to use your best one in a battle, and actually using the others for the most part.

I thank the Exp Share too. It's the first time in any Pokemon where I've gotten my HM slave, generic early game bug, and flying slave all to level 100. Highest I ever bothered to train either was a Bibarel at level 30, Beedrill at 35, and Staraptor at 85. I've never bothered because they were always too weak (well, Diggersby, Vivillon, and Talonflame aren't bad compared to shit like Swellow, Butterfree, Spearow, etc).

shit like Swellow

Wait, wait, wait. Flame Orb + Guts + Max Speed Swellow is in NO way shit. That thing is a monster.

its only base 85 attack though, plenty of crap can wall it and swellow is pretty frail too, so it doesnt take much to take it down.

It's okay i guess, but there are better flying types and certainly better guts users.

Yes, but it gets the maximum effect of Facade, plus it gets STAB from it. It also gets Brave Bird. It is pretty frail like you say, though. There certainly are better Guts users out there.

Dont get me wrong though swellow aint too bad, but it would be better if it had a more impressive attack stat(or a boost), plus if memory serves it cant do much to steel and rock types.

Maybe the server has difficulty keeping a record of pretty much everything done by every person playing the game with an Internet connection simultaneously. Go on Pokémon Global Link and look at your logbook for an idea of what gets recorded.

GUYS GUYS GUYS!!! I FOUND A NEW METHOD FOR CHAINING…

fishing encounters.
What you’ll need:
-A Pokemon with Suction Cups / Sticky Hold
-Decent reaction times
-Access to a camera so you can be smug when you catch a shiny
-A fishing rod and a Pokemon with surf

What you need to do:
-Find a fishing spot where the tile you aim to fish in is adjacent to a rock (see: here)
-Put the Pokemon with Suction Cups as your lead, fainting it is acceptable if its shit like my Octillery
-Surf to where the aforementioned pic shows, register your rod for easy access
-What you’ll need to do is ‘chain fish’, this should be relatively easy. Simply remain in the aforementioned spot, don’t move, and try and consecutively fish around 20-40 Pokemon without breaking your chain.
-You’re pretty much guaranteed a shiny encounter after not too long

- You CAN flee from the pokemon. it doesn’t have to be fainted or caught.

-Your chain WILL restart once you have a successful shiny encounter.

i FOUND SHINY RECALINTH AFTER LIKE 19 ENCOUNTERS SO.

this works, i caught a female shiny chinchou with it and if the rumor of being able to mass produce shiny children with a shiny mother now is true i'll start handing them out

I've enjoyed catching shitty pokemon then naming them after bad robots in robot wars then wonder trading them

So, from what I can tell, the negatives are there is little post-game, and the story isn't as good as Gen 5's? While I'm a bit disappointed with that, and I do want post-game, I spent over 100 hours on my original Platinum game, and I spent most of my time catching and evolving Pokemon. Considering there are a lot of Pokemon in this game, I hope it'll last me as long.

I definitely do think that Gen V had the better story in terms of the villains and their reasons for what they do (it was actually a reason that I could see being a problem with some people), but I dunno...

Just, once you got the the story-heavy part in this game, it was pretty intense. I really liked it.
