Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Re: Mario Kart 8

She's not a Wario hater, she a Wario sadist.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Because it's freaking hilarious to race a giant Wario ass. And to see him fall in a pit.

Nonetheless, MKWii is undeniably full of duplicate files. Even Item boxes and Goomba's are stored per-track. I hope MK8 uses their space wisely.

True. Same goes for coins in Battle Mode. I don't know how much space they will save if they just make item boxes universal just like green shells, bananas, and balloons, but... I'm wondering if there is a catch to all of those duplicates.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I think item boxes are part of the course file (just as how the trees, pipes, cars, and monty moles are), not part of the more-dynamic common file. But that's just my two cents.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I just checked the Mario Kart 8 article on the Wiki and in the part of all compatible controllers, I saw that the Pro Controller doesn't appear there.

Is it that the Pro Controller hasn't been confirmed yet or am I not going to be able to use it to play Mario Kart 8?

Re: Mario Kart 8

It's not gonna affect me as I was planning to use the Gamepad anyway.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I wouldn't stress out on Pro Controller compatibility. It should be a given at this point, and if it isn't, Nintendo may correct their mistake swiftly.

In case anyone hasn't figured this out, New Super Mario Bros. U originally didn't have Pro Controller compatibility when it was first released. It eventually gained that compatibility from one of its updates.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I don't get why people are so opposed to using a controller that's supposed to be the main focus of the system?

Though options wouldn't hurt either

I know, but that's why I mentioned that even if it doesn't, you can count on updates. It doesn't excuse anything, but at least you can still use it.

Mmm... It's good, but there are too many Kong characters... Luma is too small to drive a car, so I'd replace him with Toadsworth, and I'd replace the ghost from Luigi's Mansion with E. Gadd, who is much more relevant (and was actually going to be a racer in Mario Kart DS before he got replaced by Dry Bones).

King K. Rool could work, but I'd replace Kritter with Lubba, who is more part of the Mario series. Aside from that, I'm ok with everything :)
NO FUCK LUBBA

Re: Mario Kart 8

I want to chase after Lubba in Battle Mode though, just like H. Queen

I plan on using the Game Pad too, but remember you can sync a maximum of two Game Pads per console. I want to know if other people are going to be able to play with my Pro Controllers.

Re: Mario Kart 8

If anyone hasn't really understood how my stat system idea works, I've decided to explain the system more.

Character Types
Accelerator: Characters focus more on acceleration and control over speed. However, their drifting abilities do get hindered.
Balanced: The character's stats are well-balanced for his/her size class. Stats can't reach their highest/lowest possible levels for this type.
Speedster: Characters focus more on high speed than acceleration. While this type offers better drifting, its handling does get hindered.

Vehicle Statistics
Speed: How high the vehicle's top speed is.
Acceleration: How quickly the vehicle can reach its top speed.
Weight: How heavy the vehicle is.
Handling: How well the vehicle can normally steer.
Drift: How sharply the vehicle can turn while drifting.
Off-Road: Determines how much speed is lost while on off-road terrain.
Shocks: Determines how bouncy the vehicle is. A higher value makes the vehicle less prone to bouncing.
Mini-Turbo: How strong the vehicle's mini-turbo boost is after performing a drift.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Tires also provide traction too. Has anyone realized that Slick tires have less traction than Slim?

Re: Mario Kart 8

MnSG, the point was that there were too many characters, and I don't think they would go that far yet. It would be strange to just leap an extra 12 characters.

And also, i don't think they would use that. Not saying it is bad or anything like that, but it's Nintendo. They don't always make the most balanced things (coughSSBBcough). You saw how on MKW had the best balance per se, but I don't think they would go that far into detailing the characters' stats and stuff. Plus, narrowing the categories only make it to where it'll be harder to fit characters into categories without basically making clone racers.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart Wii had serious flaws with its stat distributions though. Mario Kart 7 improved on this a little, but Metal Mario did throw a monkey wrench into the mix; despite being a heavy class character, the body frames for his karts are equivalent to that of a Light and Medium class character.

Yes, I know that my inputs will likely never be considered, but after seeing what the past Mario Karts had, one does need to wonder what it would be like if everyone was treated equally with their stat totals; different stat distribution, same stat total in the end.

Re: Mario Kart 8

All those stats left me seriously confused. Good thing that to me every single character is exactly the same.

Actually, Metal Mario had a medium frame. The difference is negligible in races but that didn't stop people from spamming him the same reason Funky Kong got spammed.

Metal Mario is still a smaller target than Bowser, Wario, and Honey Queen though, so that gave him the upper hand, despite sharing the exact same stats as them.
