Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

If it exists in the Mario universe, it has a shot. Hell, recent DLC additions show that anything in the Nintendo universe has a shot (as much as it makes me cringe)

Want more proof? OK. King Goomba (who debuted in an RPG) was a boss in Mario Kart DS. Oh, and Baby Peach... um, yeah. If you really want to count her, she debuted in Partners in Time. It's not out of the question, especially if they're versions of mainline characters (A trait Baby Peach shares with the characters I mentioned a few posts up)

Re: Mario Kart 8

Goomboss was in Mario Kart DS, Dark Bones was in Super Sluggers, the Star Spirits were in Mario Party, and Baby Peach has appeared in several titles since. That's why I'm open to more.

However, those are isolated incidents. That's why I know that an RPG character not named Baby Peach has very slim chances.

Ok, they have a shot, but not a large one. Their priority is fairly low. Every Mario character does debatably have a shot, but I would wager dollars to donuts that characters like Wanda and Foreman Spike will never appear in Mario Kart. Most RPG characters are on the same level.

The dlc doesn't mean anything really. It's three special guests from other games and three existing characters with different costumes. Pretty much just a bonus.

The only reason that King Goomba appeared in MKDS was because he was put into SM64DS and I believe every boss from SM64 also made it into MKDS. Have we received any other elements from RPG games other than those 2? Also every MK character has been in some other game except PGP and Baby Rosalina because they are new, and all MK characters have appeared in a 3D environment game.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I read that there's a Double Dash option in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, but I've searched for pictures and videos to no avail. Has anyone here seen any of that?

besides dark bones isn't an rpg-based character, it was originally called red bones and its design looks nothing like the rpg dark counterpart

it's not really double-dash gameplay. two karts merge and form a single tank

So basically you're using the law of probability, where there is a chance that something could happen. The law also states that there is a (very slim) chance that I could be launched into space in 5 minutes, or that when you open your dryer that the clothes will be folded from the tumble.

King Goomba was not pulled from Paper Mario though; Goomboss was pulled from Super Mario 64 DS. I mean, King Goomba is basically Goomboss, but MKDS pulled Goomboss from the Platformer game rather than the RPG character.

Baby Peach was also pulled from the Yoshi's Island DS game. Partners in Time obviously used Baby Peach first, but she wasn't implimented into Mario Kart until after she was a playable character in Yoshi's Island. And this argument is not that strong since I'm sure that they would have made Baby Peach - whether or not she debutted in a rpg, a platformer, the yoshi game, etc. - just like how both Baby Daisy and Baby Rosalina were brought into Mario Kart as their debut.

And we have gone through how many games without even a single hint to any RPG characters being playable? I would like to know why Nintendo should add an RPG character, other than the fact that "it would celebrate the different spin-offs of the Mario series" or "I don't like generic characters". The next playable characters that they are going to add are probably going to be Bowser enemies, skins of the main Mario characters, characters that they create for the game, and major characters from the mainstream series. So basically just look at the roster for Mario Super Sluggers, and we'll probably see characters added from there in the next few Mario Kart games (plus characters like Luma and Nabbit and other post-MSS characters).

Like, I can just list 10 characters that would most likely get in before any of the RPG characters you want: Goomba, Hammer Bro, Magikoopa, Boo, Blooper, Luma, Nabbit, Dixie Kong, Pianta, Noki. And then characters that were in MK before and would probably return eventually, like Petey Piranha, King Boo, Birdo, Diddy Kong, Bowser Jr, Wiggler, Dry Bowser, and even Honey Queen. That is 18 characters right there, and that's just off to the top of my head. And that's not even including if they plan to ever bring non-Mario characters back in Mario Kart.

I mean, if an RPG isn't even added in the biggest roster of any of Mario game ever, then what chance does it have to be in a Mario Kart game? At least the characters I brought up have actually been playable characters before in a Mario game.

I should really get working on a bingo card for this PRATT so people like Baby Mario Ploops doesn't have to waste time typing paragraphs.

To add on, characters like :toadette: :pgp: didn't even exist prior to their Mario Kart debuts. Just to show you that made-up characters have more of a chance than those stinking RPG characters.

I just realized that all the characters that have debutted in Mario Kart have all been female: (Toadette, Baby Daisy, Baby Rosalina, PGP).

shows you how little female characters there really are in the mario kart series

it's a bit depressing, really

Re: Mario Kart 8

I don't even use the female characters a whole lot, but I guess gender variety would be really nice.

At least they made characters for it so that there was a bit more diversity, though I do wish there was a bit more. At least Mario Kart seems best about trying to be equal gender-wise.

There is Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Rosalina, Pink Gold Peach, Wendy, and Toadette, which make 8 out of the 29 characters, or 9 out of the 30 if you count female Miis. And then of course we have Cat Peach and Isabel for DLC so that makes a total of 11 out of 32 character, which is a 1/3 of the roster, so it's not bad, and the most females a Mario Kart game, though would have been more had they kept Birdo. And we got additions like Honey Queen in MK7 that was interesting. They could add Dixie Kong as another female rep, which would help I guess.

I dunno, I'm personally okay with all the female characters added and would rather not have them try forcing female characters than to have quite the gender gap. I mean, Pink Gold Peach and Cat Peach are obviously just stretching the limits here. Personally Mario games need some more original female characters (and I mean original and not a baby or power-up palette of that character), as they haven't added one since Rosalina in 2007. At least they kept Rosie, which was a smart part on them due to her popularity and as a heavy-weight female in Mario Kart.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I never really cared about gender equality for the rosters, in the sense that while I am perfectly ok with adding more females, its not really something I personally think about.

As for the tired subject of rpg characters, ain't gonna happen.

Re: Mario Kart 8

i'm not for adding female characters for the sake of it, it's just that, well, there's just so much made-up female characters instead of doing a rosalina where a female character plays a major role in a game and make more female characters play bigger roles

i mean we have captain syrup and pauline but they aren't mainseries characters so they don't have much chance of making it in mario kart anywya

Re: Mario Kart 8

Makes me wonder what things would be like if they actually implemented that ''Warui'' version of Peach.

Re: Mario Kart 8

i hope that, that's lazy :P

Re: Mario Kart 8

What would they even call it anyway?

Wapeach?

Weach?

Re: Mario Kart 8

weach sounds like a terrible pun on witch

Re: Mario Kart 8

Then thats probably what they'd call it, always room for terrible puns in this franchise.

Re: Mario Kart 8

And to think that Wapeach was this close to being an actual thing... http://www.camelot.co.jp/gimon/gimon13.html
