No, yes, and maybe.

You saw fans about Honey bee, and I think Lubba would only get more hate. Toadsworth would be great, but it all depends on balance and such. Gads I could see, but at the same time I have doubts.

From the beta elements of MKW, I do feel like Hammer Bro. Will be appearing in this one. They may also put back in Petey Piranha, which would be cool.

Blooper's an item again, so he's not going to be playable (damn it).

They got rid of Petey because his head is too big to see around, you wouldn't get as clear of a view as other characters. Hammer Bro I can see though.

Yeah, I am sick and tired of seeing Daisy unlockable, she's my favorite princess but why unlockable?
kinda reminds me of fortune street
daisy was a starter and peach wasnt, which pissed me off.
Peach is always a starter for being a musthave heroine in all SMB games. For Daisy, here are two problem: one for her absence in SMB for a long time.

The other is since Daisy is the number 2 heroine, being unlockable means most female charcters aren't starters, or few female charcters are included in most rosters. Both are not good things.

Adding new characters can never be a bad thing. Fans should get mad only when other popular characters didn't get in first, not when those chosen ones look awful. At least I don't think H.Q. or Lubba looks awful at all.

I personally think Pauline or Dixie fits in racer type more, while Lubba, Toadsworth or Gadd are more like referee type. I don't mean they can't enter Kart games, but I'm more upset with their absence in all recent SMB and spinoffs.

Re: Mario Kart 8

@Dorayaki

You seriously think PAULINE OF ALL CHARACTERS has a better chance then any of the three I mentioned?

Really? Pauline. She has no relevance to the Mario series anymore.

And I don't think Lubba would get Honey Queen hate, either. He was a major character from Galaxy 2 and also represents the Lumas (would you rather have a generic Luma be playable? (Honest I would kinda like that, but I suggested Lubba since I thought Luma would be turned down from everyone))

E. Gadd I suggested because of the Medium character slot. There really aren't that many other great additions to add there, so E. Gadd would be cool to see there. (no, E. Gadd is not a Small character).

I'm serious due to her latest appearance, just like Gadd. I'd rather say Goombella when I'm dreaming. Being a Mario universe character is the criteria, or you can recommend Zelda or Wi-fi trainer. The lack of story and character relevance is what Nintendo had been known for in such a long time.
I meant that young kongs and ladies are the used types of racers used in Kart games, so it wouldn't be a surprise.

I like Lubba, but in your words I don't like to see too many Galaxy representives or elements, while other titles should be choices too.

Who's his partner in Double Dash?

That was a different one.

Had a feeling someone would mention that.

The only other thing I can say is both Petey and Kingboo debuting in Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion, respectively, and Nintendo thought they'd make a good team.

Otherwise...*head explodes*

Re: Mario Kart 8

It's like if they added Kamella and Major Burrows together as a team if Mario Kart Wii had been Mario Kart Double Dash.

E.Gadd fits more into the small spot and there is enough medium spots out.

Re: Mario Kart 8

A really dumb thing they could do is add Kersti as a playable character. I don't hate her, but she's minor and unpopular.

Yes. Nintendo, let's not repeat another Queen Bee.

I'd love to see Hammer Bro.. Have been wanting to see him in a Mario Kart(playable) since MKWii. ._.

Why the hell would they make Kersti the first RPG representative, makes no sense at all! Plus how would she drive? Unless they blow her up the way they shrunk Honey Queen (shudders)

We could do without more generics.

Who would you propose we have then?
I'm not going to repeat myself, as everyone would just flame me about it, and I don't want anymore tension. Maybe I should say a bit more about my previous post though: Out of the generics, Hammer Bro is a good choice. I wouldn't mind him in, except there's tons of characters who should have priority over generics.

Um...NSM, you seem to be taking a rather biased approach to this (not saying that we aren't all biased in some way, shape, or form).

You seem to think that Pauline, a character that still appears from game to game and appears more than all the Super Mario Galaxy characters, would be the worse decision ever, while Lubba seems like the perfect addition. Luma WOULD honestly be better since they already had Luma as a playable character in Mario Tennis Open.

And I definitely have to disagree with the Medium slot. I feel that there definitely a lot of medium characters to be added to the game, and I think that Medium is one of the biggest categories of them all. I mean, a lot of characters could easily fit into the medium slot, which can be a problem since they'll want to balance out the slots more than they would want to balance out all of them like they did in MKW.

Well, generics are better than specific characters in this case since they want to make sure they please as many fans as possible, and generics can help do that. Did you notice that most of the specific characters are only the most popular ones and are found in basically every Mario spin-off game?

I'm neutral with both. Luma is indeed a signature of Galaxy and the creamy Luma seems to be a real individual. Maybe Luma or Lubba appears in different games and fits in their needs for a light or heavy player.

I hope Medium class can be split into two in MK8, so we can have four classes and 32 characters. That's enough to put 16 important character who are between light and heavy classes.

Different species is a kind of diversity. However, fans' love for characters and for species are two different things.
If there are representives of species, I'd go with them. For Hammer bros, unfortunately I can't come up with a character from this tribe for now, so I have no words for him/her.

There are still tons of notable specific characters who haven't made in Kart games, as mentioned above. The lack of variation in rosters only represents a problem caused by Nintendo.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Honestly, just have the five classes from MK7 - Feather, Light, Medium, Cruiser, Heavy - and have three of each as default (15), and then have 15 unlockables for a total of 30 characters, which would be a good trade-of to ensure that there are many characters in the game while still having a good balance of categories. Medium is definitely a big enough category to start splitting up.

Good idea. 30 characters is pretty realistic.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I'm really happy to see :toadette: is back. I thought she was dumped some time ago.

My personal preference for new racers would be Pauline, Lubba or Luma, Whittle, Gadd, Captain Syrup, and Dixie.

Everything about the game is looking so well so far.

Just because she hasn't appeared since 2008 doesn't mean that she was dumped. There are plenty of characters that had longer periods between appearances.

But yeah, I really do love having her back. She definitely is a good character.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Still, I can't remember any Handheld Mario Kart game with Toadette in it.

For a characater who's been absent in every SMB game, I don't see any reason how she dissapears for a long time.

Even so, we don't see the staff make up for her appearances by other spinoff playable or many referee chances. Same for Toadsworth

Nice choices, but Syrup is a concern due to her lack of recent appearance, unlike the others in this list.

Wario series is mostly composed of Warioware minigames, and thefore Warioware crew have more appearances than Syrup who only returned in Wario Land Shake It! and didn't get a Warioware appearance. I believe that she has a huge potential as the only major female boss in Marioverse so far, but she needs more appearances in other major games first.

I would like Syrup to return as it would be fun to have a recurring female villain to go toe to toe with the likes of Wario, Peach, and Bowser. She's kinda like the WaruPeachy that got scrapped during the development of Mario Tennis 64, but with more potential and possibly more likeable. XD
