As for Thanos, I once heard that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to play him and honestly, I'm glad that was just a rumor.

hahahaha what
Josh Brolin? Josh Bro...excuse me. (yells and breaks things that are fragile) Okay I'm back

well

okay then

no he's a fantastic director, but they've chosen two directors well known for their comedy movies (Edgar Wright with Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz/World's End, and Adam McKay with Anchorman/Anchorman 2), and they got Paul Rudd in the role, who I'm not even sure has appeared in a serious role yet.

i'm really upset about this

i mean, yes, all of wright's movies have had comedic elements, but they're never taken away from the other elements of the film

shaun of the dead and the world's end were both intense, and hot fuzz and scott pilgrim had some amazing action scenes

but i've been reading on wikipedia, and it seems that wright wanted to make ant-man a standalone movie, which is probably why he had to leave (seeing as marvel likes their continuity so much)

Don't forget The Other Guys, that one is my favorite. Really, he's directing it? I guess there are superhero films (besides The Dark Knight) I'll enjoy, I love the new X-Men movie, Guardians of the Galaxy looks funny, now McKay is directing Ant-Man? That sounds good

Really? I read that on Twitter he said, while Stan Lee and Jack Kirby are his heroes, he's busy with other projects at the moment.

Goddamn it! Well I hope it's any of these directors who can direct an action-comedy:
Brett Ratner (Rush Hour trilogy)
David O. Russell (Three Kings, The Fighter, Silver Lining's Playbook, American Hustle)
Ridley Scott (Alien, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Blade Runner)
Martin Scorsese

Or it could just be an action movie. It doesn't have to be a comedy, you know.

Then again, Thor 2 felt like an action-comedy film, so who knows?

Hey, not news or anything, but...

Darkhawk? Speedball? ...How would you like to see THEM in the next Avengers movie? Or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Or in that upcoming Defenders mini-series? Or... at all?

You need to watch Spirited Away to understand.

SO ANYWAY

Yay Dr. Strange

We know Phase 3 is gonna have seven movies, So our phase 3 line up looks like this so far.

Ant-Man
Captain America 3
Dr. Strange
???
???
???
Avengers 3

Place your bets people. I'm thinking Thor 3, Black Panther, and the last one is a wildcard. If Guardians does well I can see that getting a sequel, especially if Avengers 3 is about Thanos. I could also see it being a black Widow or Ms. Marvel film.

AWWW YEAAAAH!!! ...Still wonder if they're still going to get Johnny Depp as Doctor Strange himself.

black widow movie please

she's easily one of the best marvel characters right now, was awesome in avengers and winter soldier

id rather have ms marvel personally, been one of my favorites for quite some time.

and really black widow only has my interest in the movies, never was fond of her otherwise.

Rawson Thurber passes on Ant-Man.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06/04/another-director-passes-on-marvels-ant-man

I'm starting to get worried for this movie. This is, what, the 3rd or 4th director declining this?

Is it bad that every time I hear about a new superhero appearing in these movies, I think in the back of my mind "More corpses for Thanos in Avengers 3?" I think Avengers 3 is going to be a massive film for the cinematic universe. I expect some dead heores. Especially considering that the contracts for Downey Jr. and Chris Evans expire with Avengers 3.

Can I just say, I just realised that none of the Avengers are really that compelling to me? Like, their origin stories don't really make them that interesting as characters. Except Iron Man, but I think that had to do with Robert Downey Jr's performance. I mean, sure, you've got to work with what you can get, but I don't really find them interesting.

Ant-Man should've been written into the first Avengers film to begin with. While he's one of the original members, he really doesn't have enough star power(for lack of a better term) to warrant his own movie. Especially to the general movie-going public.
