Because Microsoft did well in gen 6? Brand loyalty?

Nintendo has been suffering the last two console gens and handhelds are suffering in part due to mobile gaming on smart phones.
 
i don't think mobile gaming on smartphones has much to do with it, honestly

people act as if the state of the console industry right now is the same as it was ten years ago, and it's not

there are new games, new exclusives, and people found those games on the ps3 and xbox360

now they want to play those games on the ps4 and xbox1

Well actually I think Forza 5 and Ryse Son of Rome looks good. I don't want them enough to buy a new console for them but they do look quite good IMO.
